The Hyatt Centric Santa Clara garners praise for its cleanliness and modern amenities, including an inviting outdoor fire pit. While the atmosphere is often described as relaxing and the location convenient, some guests have reported issues with pool maintenance and service inconsistencies. Spacious rooms are a highlight for many travelers, although others have encountered odors and cleanliness concerns. Additionally, there are mixed feelings about the value, with hidden costs and unmet expectations being a drawback for some.

Stayed here for four nights in December for work. The hotel isn't much to look at from the outside, but is really nice on the inside. The staff aren't really welcoming or helpful otherwise I would've given the place five stars. Parking is easy, although not free. You could probably get away with telling them you don't have a car and they wouldn't charge you. There is no valet. Location is good. The rooms are nice and spacious and are a suite. They are also very dark which is great. I slept well here despite the highway noise from the 101 and my room facing away from it. Was able to get a lot of office work done as the hallways and room was quiet for the most part. Did not like that housekeeping elected to checkin on me and look around my room while I had a do not disturb sign on the door. Was asked by the front desk if I'd need housekeeping during my stay and I said no, so why did they come into the room when I asked them not too? Other than that my stay was good. Might try to ask for a room the farthest away from the highway next time.

I'd have to say that service during week nights are pretty good since this property caters towards the tech crowd however if you do happen to stay over the weekend the service staff is quite reduced. During our Saturday portion of our stay we did not get house cleaning. The front desk staff claimed we had do not disturb signs on our room door but we did not.

Other than that hiccup the staff serving breakfast was kind and gracious. Ambiance is relaxing and you wouldn't think you are surrounded by freeways while sitting outside by the pool at night with a fire pit.

The Hyatt Centric is a great option if you need to stay in the Santa Clara/North San Jose area of Silicon Valley. About the only negative I can think of is if you are a light sleeper, you may want to have the fan on in your room, or bring a white noise machine. Most hotels in this area are located directly against one of the busy Expressways or Freeways, so traffic noise is unavoidable, as it would be in any other property in this area.

Overall the hotel itself is nicely appointed and updated, and the rooms were clean and exceeded expectations. In-lobby coffee and water is a nice amenity. The outside fire pit areas near the pool looked really inviting, and many guests used that space to gather. The fact they have an onsite restaurant and bar is a huge plus, as there are not many walkable restaurant options in this area. Note that a la carte ordering is not available for breakfast if the hotel is fairly full, and only a buffet option is offered.

A definite will stay again.

My first review of this hotel, written in 2015 or 2016, was positive but the hotel has gone down hill in the meantime. Let me say I like the way the suites are laid out, very cosy and roomy. The furniture is showing signs of wear, beaten up around the edges. However, this is not why the hotel got the poor review. When I checked in I was very tired and hungry and I was told that the restaurant was closed (for an indeterminable amount of time) but that food could be ordered if we sat at the bar. We had invited a friend who lived locally to join us for dinner but the ambiance now was a brightly lit and empty bar. No good. Then when almost finished checking in the real shocker came and I quote from the typewritten sheet of paper I was handed: "......We will be undergoing a water shut off on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 9AM to 7PM. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause and hope to have the water on as soon as possible....." Which meant that the next day from 9AM to noon (I had asked for a late check out) there would be no water for the toilet and that any shower had to be taken on their schedule. It is unbelievable; not the way to treat customers. This info should have been told to potential customers either when making the reservation or an email sent out when the hotel knew the day and time of water shut off. No attempt was made by the hotel to reduce the rent for the room either. The last line of the note I was handed went like this: "Thank you again for staying at The Plaza Suites and we do hope you enjoy your stay." We won't be staying again.

Don’t leave things in your room. Your things will most likely be gone through. Take photos of your room and the towels and bathrobes. Check your invoices for extra miscellaneous fees.

Not worth the the money for the hotel location, services and cleanliness. Also not worth the hassle to try and get back money they charged erroneously to you for items that were in the room when you checked out.

Beware of the Smash and Grabs all over the area. We were advised multiple times of not leaving anything in your vehicles. I didn’t have a vehicle but I definitely feel like this pertains to the hotel rooms themselves as well.

The pool was not heated even when requested, bathroom does not have any sink to wash the hands. Bathroom door consisted of two small halves with no lock. No breakfast. Window in the room was damaged and had just one glass instead of 2. The air conditioner was so noisy I could not sleep.

We stayed at the Hyatt for 3 nights, we had a good start, Elaine at check in was nice and professional. We enjoyed our room, spacious and comfy! The bar/restaurant manager was very friendly!!

Sadly, we only leave 2 stars because we had few glitches during our stay… I requested a spoon at reception, the receptionist told me that she’ll send it to the room , waited for 40 min and never happened …
The next day I asked the same receptionist to have my room serviced, came back after 5pm, the room hasn’t been cleaned….

I let another receptionist know about it, some of her excuses didn’t make sense… ( we don’t have spoons or you need to ask the day before to have your room serviced). I work in the hotel industry….

None of the Ice machine worked, the TV streaming didn’t work, no coffee bar… Anyway, not a good experience unfortunately….

We booked a 2 queen room on the website but once we got to the room it was 2 double beds. This would not work because there was 5 of us and putting 2 adults in a double bed is not ideal or comfortable. I called the front desk and they explained there's nothing they could do as the part of the hotel that has the 2 queen beds was under renovation. I explained my family situation above and was only told "You can try calling back after 8pm when a supervisor gets here and they might wave your $25 parking fee for the night." I asked why would the website let people book rooms that were unavailable due to renovation and the representative just said "I don't know". At this point with it being 7pm, and is being in the Great America theme park all day we were tired and I didn't have the patience to call around to other hotels asking if they have 2 queen rooms and probably having to pay a lot more. I just accepted the fact we won't be using Hyatt anymore and we used sofa cushions for a makeshift bed on the ground for one of our family members to sleep. Book at your own risk.

Hello SLC_Wes Thank you for your review. I am apologetic to you for not enjoying your stay due to the beds. Our hotel was recently undergone a fully extensive renovation. We just opened our hotel in April. The beds were listed on our website as Queens when in fact they are Doubles. I apologize for the incorrect information. We are in the process of correcting all our online messaging as we speak. Our hotel currently charges $20 per car for parking which is comparable to other hotels in the area. Thank you again for your review. I hope we will see you again soon. Sincerely, Paul Medawar, CHA General Manager

The premium internet service is completely dysfunctional, delivering speeds of less than 1Mbps, making it impossible to participate in video meetings or even access webpages.

I am deeply dismayed by the front desk's utter lack of responsiveness, which has had an incredibly adverse impact on my stay. When I initially reported the Wi-Fi issue over the phone, the staff displayed indifference, claiming there was no ongoing Wi-Fi problem and recommending me to try a different devices. It was only when I confronted them in person about the issue that they casually mentioned having informed the IT department for a resolution, but they failed to provide any estimated timeframe for the fix. To compound the issue, this problem persisted for over an agonizing 36 hours, compelling me to rely on my cellular data for critical meetings on at least two nights. This degree of ineptitude and disregard for guest satisfaction is wholly unacceptable.

As a Discoverist member, I received no room upgrade, and I was allocated a room situated directly adjacent to the elevator, leading to continuous elevator noise throughout the night.

unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected—especially for the price I paid.

Room Cleanliness: When I arrived, the room was in unacceptable condition. There were stains on the sheets, the bathroom had a foul odor, and trash from the previous guest was still in the room. This made me question whether the room was cleaned at all.
Noise Issues: The noise level was unbearable. The walls are paper-thin, so I could hear every conversation from the hallway and neighboring rooms. My sleep was interrupted multiple times by loud voices and footsteps, making for an incredibly uncomfortable night.
Customer Service: I approached the front desk with my concerns, and the staff seemed indifferent. There was no offer to resolve the situation, no room change, and no compensation. It felt like my complaints were brushed off without any effort to improve my stay.
False Advertising: Many of the amenities listed were either unavailable or not as advertised. The complimentary breakfast was essentially packaged snacks, and the gym was closed without any prior notice or explanation.
Incorrect Charges: To top it off, I was charged for parking despite my corporate discount specifically including parking. When I mentioned this to the front desk, they refused to correct the error.
Overall, my stay was frustrating and far below the standards I expect from a hotel of this price range. I have requested a refund and will not be returning to this property. Hopefully, management takes this feedback seriously to avoid further disappointing other guests.

They do not have an airport shuttle for SFO but yes for SJC. I would recommend to either use the Caltrain (convenient during the week but slow during the weekend) or get an uber/lyft. Cost is about $50-$60 (off peak hours).

The Prestige rooms only have the bedrooms a bit bigger. All rooms have the one bedroom/one living room combination with a sofa bed in the living room. Prestige rooms also get a complimentary snack delivered on the first day of your stay (it used to be EVERY day :-( Usually consists of a fruit, bag of chips, some candy and a protein-type bar. Another perk is ordering more a la carte at breakfast (vs whatever is on the buffet menu). IMHO not really worth it unless you get free upgrade :-)
