Detailed Reviews
You get what you pay for, this just happened to be a $138 Motel 6, which would usually get something better but not this time!
The new style Motel 6 rooms are functional and fine for a night. I like the laminate floors because I feel like they are potentially cleaner! This room had a strong smell of cleaning liquid when we entered, which I personally was ok with! Sure it could use a deep clean in the corners, but I understand that motel maids are going quickly from room to room so with that in mind it was clean.
Unfortunately our sink leaked very badly, but as it was 1am by the time we'd got there and actually used the sink I didn't bother to tell them until morning so I can't comment on how quickly they would have dealt with that. Although one would think they should have already done that as there's no way someone didn't notice before! I washed my hands and there was a huge puddle under the sink. We threw towels on it and went to bed!
The bed....not the worst I've stayed in but much firmer than we would have liked, didn't get much sleep!! It was however quiet and even though the area didn't look so great in the late hours the actual Motel 6 area felt quite safe.
They don't supply anything but 2 small bars of soap, I didn't expect more and didn't need more although my husband assumed it would have some shampoo and then was left without.
Staff were friendly and polite, so as I said it was fine for a night.

This hotel was clean, safe and the staff was friendly. There were no bells and whistles and no free wifi, but it was good place for travelling through Santa Clara. The floors were clean, the bed was made, and the door locked.

This a Motel6, what more to say?
Slightly strange smell, the second morning only cold water from the shower...
Enough space in the room, the beds were OK, the rooms were remodeled since my last visit some 10 years ago.

Dangerous place. Weirdos that talk to themselves walk the halls trying the doors at night. No security. nutcases asking me or drugs...I am a 60 yr old man and I had to load my 44 to feel safe. I I had to pick up a guy in the parking lot that fell out of his wheelchair because no one else would...WTF

this place had chicken wire for an air conditioner vent! the tub enclosure was peeling. a real section 8 housing kind of place. Not for vacationers. I called the main office for motel 6, and offered pictures I had taken. They were not interested in the least. I was sent a certificate for another stay.

I was in need of a room on short notice. I stopped in, and asked the (very friendly) night manager if she had a room. She only had a handicap access room, and I asked to take a look. I was okay with it, but I failed to check a few things, more on that later.
Price was inexpensive (2nd lowest in Santa Clara), but when you consider what you get, it's actually expensive. No Wifi or free internet, for example: lucky that I could pick up the free city signal.
Then, later, when I went into my room, I realized the lamps over the bed and desk didn't work! Manager said there was nothing she could do. Pretty big breach of maintenance here.
Then, even later, when I'm taking a shower, I realize that not only does the exhaust fan not work, but there was no soap left in the bathroom....nothing....not a single bar! I guess it's BYOS at Motel 6!
The mattress was the worst I've slept on in awhile as well...no support at all, and the edges had metal wire you could feel through the top.
I calmly expressed my problems the next morning, and asked for an adjustment...the day staff was at first a bit confrontive, seeming to think that I should have said somethig about the lamps the night before (I did). They then offered me a very minimal discount. Not being an aggressive bargainer, I asked for them to double it and left it at that. They agreed immediately, but I'm still waiting for it to appear on my card.
Bottom line: this place came across to me as cheap and unprepared in the most basic ways. To not even have soap in the bathroom, or working lamps in the bedroom, it's just embarrassing.

We stayed here overnight at the half way point on a long drive. Check in was very easy, and prices are posted on the wall, so there's no overcharging, which I always feel hotels do. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the room. It was completely remodeled art deco style. Very clean, all new, and no more carpet. I think carpet is filthy, so it was nice to see wood laminate flooring in the entire room and bath. I thought it may be colder in the room with the flooring, but it was warm and comfortable. Still just the basics, soap and small towels. No refrigerator or clock. But they take dogs for free, had plenty of parking, and the staff were nice. The area is nothing fancy, but it was safe. It was a good overnight stay, especially for the price.

Would give this dive negative stars if that were possible. Before I say why, you need to know that I am a huge fan of Motel 6 for the value they provide for the money. This is the 5th Motel 6 we have stayed at in this trip, and I have no complaints until now.
To begin, at check-in, they make you sign a declaration that you will not consume alcohol or make noise after 10 p.m. That should have tipped us off, but we’re old and not as sharp as we used to be, evidently. Around 3 a.m. we awoke to loud music, shouting, and foul language from what sounded like a large group of men and women. This continues as I write, at 7:45 a.m. When my companion inquired at the desk just now, he was told that the offenders had been thrown out after three warnings. They are still here, still making a racket.
Avoid this one. The rooms are fine for the price, but the clientele is something else.

This is a dangerous hotel for business travelers. Both days of my stay at 7am I was stopped at my car by many homeless people asking to stay in my room while I was gone. When I refused they started kicking the sides of my rental car.
I reported this to the front desk both immediately and at checkout. The hotel staff told me this is “typical next to a big city like San Fran especially for women traveling alone”. I often travel alone to NYC, Los Angeles, DC, Tokyo and many locations in Europe without any problems as threatening as these incidents.
Additionally, the hotel has many loud parties and fighting at night.
Not worth spending one penny on this hotel!

Efficient, Friendly Check In. Front Office Staff are energetic and keep a close eye on things. Rooms were comfortable, everything worked. Many stores and restaurants very close by. "Safe" area, relatively quiet at night. Prices follow the daily market...pricing is very high for all lodging in the South Bay Area. Housekeeping was efficient and friendly. No problems with parking. Easy access on/off of El Camino and the side street making travel in any direction quick.
