Detailed Reviews
We stayed at this hotel the day before our return home flight. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast in the morning had a good enough variety for us to have something to eat before we travelled (yogurt, cereal, fruit, waffles, etc.).
We did have one concern while we were here, and I was disappointed with the response I received from the employee I spoke with at the front desk (I am guessing, but I assume she was the manager's wife). A credit card is required to check in, as is the case with every hotel. We checked in around 4:00 p.m., and I woke up the next morning to emails thanking me for my purchase on my PayPal account from late the night before. I searched the company, and it was in the same area we were staying (keep in mind this is the ONLY place I used my credit card in this city, and we were in town for less than 24 hours). I approached the front desk staff member about it when we were checking out and indicated that I didn't want to accuse anyone of anything but that it was something I thought they should be aware of. She argued with me and became defensive, saying that it "was not possible" that it was anyone from the hotel staff because they "treat their staff like their children, and none of them could do that." I reiterated that I wasn't accusing anyone in particular but that they should look into it.
On a side note, I've been struggling to get a refund from PayPal because they say it is similar to my regular purchases on my account (I use my account to order my child's hot lunches at school twice a year from our home country in a different currency—Canadian—and this was a purchase in USD for a thumbnail clipart for a video game in the same city as this hotel).
To sum up, we wouldn't stay here again because of this incident.

The good:
Its clean. The bathroom, the bedsheets, the bath towels..
The tub, sink, and toilet itself were clean. The tile floor was clean.
No bugs. No roaches.
Front desk staff is great. Based on the cleanliness of what could be cleaned.. The housekeeping staff is also great.
The bad:
The motel is old and grungy.
The carpet looks like it has years and years of dirt embedded.
The mini fridge (I didn't open) makes noise, the fluorescent light makes noise, in fact you can hear everything in the surrounding rooms and outside.
I stayed above the kitchen area and the mornings were the least noisy.
I didn't eat breakfast here so I can't speak to that.
The parking lot is small and tight.

IMO, this hotel falls waaaay short of a "Quality Inn". I do give it credit for having clean linens and comfortable bed; but little else worthy of merit. During a stay of two nights, the shower had no hot water. Shower temperature did eventually get warm after running about ten minutes but it never did get hot. The general condition of the building and its rooms gives the visitor a hint of what to expect because the lack of maintenance reveals itself by simply looking at the building's exterior. We would not recommend this facility unless there was nowhere else in Santa Clara available.

My stay didn't go so well here. First of all I called in 3 days before my reservation and cancelled the first night. I know the rules. I get to the motel and immediately I'm not happy because all of the entry doors are locked and everyone now has to enter through the main lobby. I don't like that at all. Then as I'm getting ready to pay the man behind the desk tells me my bill is over $300! What? Well he begins to try to argue with me telling me I never cancelled my 1st night reservation. Then he told me I had to pay a $100 deposit. What? As a senior citizen living on a fixed income, this did not sit right with me. But I was exhausted and decided I would contact the manager later. Well he told me I would get over $200 credited back to my account but that never happened. The manager just credited my account for the deposit amount only. There's too many other places to stay. that WILL honor a cancellation made ahead of time.

I have stayed here on mutiple occasions 1999 onwards (when it used to be Guesthouse Inn and Suites). The motel is ideally located on El Camino with plenty of Indian restaurants nearby. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Stayed here for 7 nights in mid-December. Stay was mostly fine (reasonable value for money), but I came home with bedbugs. I filled out their online review, and never heard back. I forgot to mention my room number, so they are obviously not serious about taking care of the problem.

This hotel is falling apart! You can hear everything the neighbors do from watching TV to walking around (the floors creak). The shower went from hot to cold the entire time. I ended up with a sunburn and the shower actually went to scalding hot and burned me to the point I screamed. The AC didn’t work in the bdrm. The free WIFI only worked when you’re standing outside. The bedding was disgusting! Stained, full of holes, and falling apart. The bed caved in in the middle too. The bathroom didn’t have a fan so you had to keep the window open during your shower and the window was in the shower. You literally have to stand in front of an open window while showering. Plus, the window in the bathroom didn’t lock so at any point someone could have broken into our room! This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We barely got any sleep the entire week we were there!

The service and response is very bad. We drove 8 hours from Los Angeles to the hotel, and checked in around 8 pm. We found the microwave, fridge and hair dryer didn't work, and called front desk. The front desk said would come and check, but around 30 mins he came and checked, then left and said would come back. We were very tired and hungry and waiting.........
Around 10 pm, he still not came back. So I called him, he said something is wrong with the fuse, but not sure when it will be fixed. I felt very disappoint and contacted the Choice Privileges customer service and was also waiting for 44 mins and the hotel send an electrician to fix the problem.
Wow, it is my first time stay in this hotel and it is a very bad experience.
I asked for the compensation in the office next day, the front desk said would only compensate my about 15%, but so far I receive nothing.
By the way, the chair is mangy and carpet is a little bit dirty and damp.

The hotel looks to be an old flea bag that has been renovated to acquire the Quality Inn motif. The rooms are quite fine, although the walls are paper-thin. I had to sleep with the fan on just to block out TV and conversation noise from neighboring rooms. The bed was very comfortable, but the hotel doesn’t offer you normal pillows, only small square ones the size of throw cushions. They really should provide us with the option of using a normal pillow, since 99.9% of people are accustomed to using them, rather than throw pillows. Useful amenities included a fridge and a safe. The breakfast was quite good, and included scrambled eggs as the hot option. There was plenty of free parking.
The hotel is not well-situated with regard to restaurants. It is in a Korean district, and so you have to make quite a drive to find anything other than Asian food or American fast food.
The worst part of the hotel is a very unreliable Wifi situation. Sometimes the Wifi worked well. At its worst, it took 20 minutes for an email with a PDF attachment to be sent. The hotel really needs to work on bringing its Wifi service into the modern age. I found the situation quite frustrating, and so I would probably look elsewhere if I were to visit San Jose again, since fast Wifi is pretty much the norm at all hotels these days. These guys are way behind the times.

I have three words: Urine soaked bed. That's right - the smell is not the trash dumpster right outside your window, or the moldy a/c unit in the wall - but a bed that someone peed in and was promptly re-made so the next sucker (me) could sleep on it. And despite knowing full well that this health violation took place, they still had the nerve to charge me. Outrageous, and probably illegal. With all of the many options near this location, you can do better, really you can.
