The room we were given was off a narrow hallway and so the room was quite dark. It was quite small. There was peeling paint and scuff marks on the walls. The toilet roll dispenser bar was missing and an electric outlet plate was broken (very easy things to fix). The website states that the kitchen is fully equipped but there was only a microwave and a small refrigerator--no bowls, spoons, etc. We did not even have mugs for the coffee machine. And there was only one plastic cup for the two of us. We would not return to the Sunset Motel.
It seems like they have a lot of homeless in the area. Lot of people coming and going, little bags on the ground, people kept coming to the next door neighbors room until 2 or 3 in the morning, or they were leaving ever 20 minutes, not sure which. We got worried to leave our car anywhere close to the hotel. hotel was nice and clean enough
The major complaint about my stay here was the lumpy mattress and the awful sheets. They were so ruff and uncomfortable. The other item was the tub shower combo... for an elderly person it was so dangerous trying to get over the side of the tub and there was no grip bar. The motel is on a busy street and near a convenience store. Didn’t feel really safe.
Never will I stay here or give them a dime of my money. Such a rude woman at the front desk. I had a reservation and she cancels it becuase I didnt show up at 5pm. I showed up at 7:30pm after a loooooong 7hour drive to find that instead of calling me to see where I was she decided I didn't need a room and cancelled my reservation! What a terrible thing to do to somebody! A quick phone call was all that needed to be done and I had made sure to provide my phone number when I booked! Never again!
Upon our arrival, Hansa, the motel owner, changed our quoted single-night price by over $26. No advance notice was given. We made reservations over 4 months in advance, and Hansa gave us the price, including taxes, to the penny. Although I requested it, she doesn’t provide a reservation number, nor send any e-mail with either a confirmation or the room's price. That said, she does use a computer system, and it had our information in it. Clever, but crooked. After Hansa saw my detailed, typed notes of our phone conversation, she adjusted the price by $10. Still, for a single night, we paid over $16 more than her quoted price. For us, it was not only about how much we were overcharged. It was also the deception. In my 71 years, I’ve stayed in well over 150 motels and hotels and have never had this happen…until now.…
