Don't be fooled by the plain and a bit worn looking exterior of the lighthouse keepers accommodations. Structures out here take a beating being so close to the Pacific Ocean! We stayed in the Keepers Room, a cozy room for two with private bath, mini-fridge, gas fireplace, and amazing views of the historic lighthouse, and coastline where the movie Forever...

Thanks for the nice review, Annette, and so glad you enjoyed your stay in the Keeper's Room. We do get the wind and cold sometimes in the winter, but glad the gas fireplace kept you warm and that the ocean lulled you to sleep. Look forward to seeing you again soon!

Had enough stress in your everyday life? Escape to the tranquility of Point Arena and the solitude of a few nights at the guest cottages at the Point Arena Lighthouse. I stayed with my 2 dogs in cottage 3. Though more basic than the newly remodeled cottage 4, it contains all the necessities for a relaxing stay including a full...

I couldn't agree more with your observation about the amazing scenery out here and the sleep inducing sound of the crashing waves. You and your puppies got a great stretch to be out here, and I hope your wife gets to make it out the next time you come. Thanks for staying with us and for the great review.

We have stayed at the cottages before and loved them, but when we entered cottage #4 this year we were awestruck by the improvements! They are beautiful, modern and comfortable! We were impressed by the decor that was representative of the history of the lighthouse and the placards next to each items explaining it's individual history. The staff, as usual...

We loved having you and Barry stay with us, Corinn, and am so glad you will be coming back! We are very proud of the completely remodeled Assistant Keeper's House 4 and are thrilled that you loved it too. Every one of our vacation cottages has views of the ocean and Manchester State Beach, and I just cleaned the windows...

We visited here on our way down the pacific coast in October. It was a nice stopping point because there aren't a lot of places to stop or stay in this area. We took some beautiful pictures and saw seals. The views are spectacular. But we got the best pics on our drive to the lighthouse. We also ate at...

You got one of our classic Fall days out here, with blue skies and big surf! Glad you like the Rollerville Cafe, our neighbor at the start of Lighthouse Road. Hope you can stay with us in one of our six guest houses the next time you come through!

If your looking to stay at a light house with great accommodations look no further. Mark and his team have just renovated one of the 4 cottages at point arena. #4 is complete and we stayed in it and it was wonderful. Everything you though of was there! We were also celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and they included a...

Thanks for the great review, Jim and Joy, and so glad you chose to spend your 40th anniversary in our showplace Assistant Keeper's House 4! It was wonderful getting to know you and share in your enthusiasm for the house, the Lighthouse, our grounds and the rest of the rugged and beautiful Mendocino Coast. Can't wait to have you and...

The light house is in a very scenic location. It is $7.50 EA to climb to the top of the light house which gives a very spectacular view. The museum area is also very interesting. There is also a gift shop. Plan to spend about an hour there. There are rooms next to the lighthouse you can stay at if...

Thanks for visiting, and I agree that guests should plan to spend at least an hour during your visit. The Museum has multiple exhibits that talk to the history and technology of the Light Station over its 146 year existence here on the point. The Whale Watch Room has displays of the history of the Point Arena area, local Pomo...

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at PA Lighthouse in the Head Keepers Quarters. Such an amazing experience. We arrived after hours, but everything was left exactly as instructed for a smooth check in. Thanks for the great review! You definitely got great weather for your stay, September and October are Indian Summer with sunny days and cool, crisp nights that make the stars and Milky Way shine even brighter. We spent some time in the gift shop and museum. I love to look at the old photos and they had plenty. The docents were friendly and informative. We aren't in great shape and were able to make it to the top without much effort. Would be a great place for whale watching.

So glad you enjoyed your visit, and climbed the 145 steps to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast! You are so right about whale watching, particularly from October through May when the gray whales are migrating between Alaska and Baja.

We were there during days of heavy fog and the lighthouse was in and out of it. We did not climb too the top. Too many stairs for us. There is a nice museum and gift shop. I added to my collection of pins and patches.

Whether you stay one night or one week, your experience here in our vacation rentals and incredible location will leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired. Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves against the cliffs, or be serenaded by the howling wind as it rushes across the Point. Perhaps you will hear the faint barking of sea lions or the call of a black cormorant or two, your closest neighbors at this remote location. We offer the luxurious Assistant Keeper's House 4 as our showplace cottage. It is a a fully renovated and re-imagined 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with gourmet chef’s kitchen, beautifully furnished living and dining rooms, custom tile baths, designer furniture and linens in all bedrooms, unique art and decorative features and more! Like all of our Assistant Keeper's Houses it includes a a wood burning fireplace (we provide the wood and kindling), full kitchen, satellite television, CD/DVD player, gas fireplace in the master bedroom and the most incredible views along the California coast, as the Point is surrounded by water on three sides. Our other two Assistant Keeper's homes offer more rustic accommodations, but still offer full 3 bedroom, 2 bath houses with fully stocked kitchens, comfortably furnished living and dining rooms, unique art and decorative features, satellite television, CD/DVD player, gas fireplace in the master bedroom and more! These units are also pet friendly, and share the same incredible views that all of our cottages offer. The Head Keeper's House is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath full home with a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, sleeper sofa in the nicely appointed living room and of course the wood burning stove with all the wood and kindling provided, satellite television, CD/DVD player, books, games and more. The Keeper's Apartment is great for a couple looking to have a romantic cottage on the ocean that allows them all the comforts and amenities of home. This cottage has a queen bedroom, living room, dining room and fully stocked kitchen, and bathroom with shower. This small but fully featured room boasts a queen bed, sitting area with table and chairs, gas fireplace, microwave and mini-fridge and a full bathroom. This is our only cottage that does not offer a kitchen, but you can find many fine restaurants in the area. All of our rentals include unlimited Lighthouse Museum & Tower tours and full access to our 23 acres of grounds for all guests during their stay. You will also find a welcome gift of a bottle of Husch Vineyards wine and chocolates from Mendocino Chocolate Company waiting for you in the dining room of your Assistant Keeper’s home.
