So apparently the people who own or run Gold Trail also own or run the Mother Lode which is basically just down the road. They must only have a real office at the Mother Lode because there was a note on the door instructing guests to go to the Mother Lode to check in. Following this, we had to drive... More

There were three of us and two were disables with service dogs we even gave them a copy of their certificates.. The owners ended up charging us for dog stay because we did not take the dogs with us for 2 hours. Service animals are supposed to be free. They gave us no rules and regulations when we checked in.... More

Not the most spectacular of places but it was a clean place to rest our heads for a couple of days. Our bathroom was huge and the towels were nice and fluffy and as I said upon entering it was clean even just by smell. I almost rated it a 2 though just because of several things. The beds are... When you book online they say they can not find your reservation, so you will rent a different and be charged twice never getting your money back from the reservation that they can not find. The rooms are very old, torn down, full of bugs, shower does not work, the bedding and pillows are gross, old and dirty. Matresses and... More

Pleasant people, clean comfortable room. Been there before. Coming back again, too. I must have 200 characters so I'm putting in more characters by typing a whole lot of more characters. I'm done now.

Best all-around deal in the Apple Hill/Tahoe aria. If you’re visiting Apple Hill this fall or on your way to Tahoe do yourself a favor stop in at this locally owned and family run hotel. I was impressed at the newly renovated rooms and great service. I come to the Placerville aria 4 of 5 times a year and this... More

As was mentioned in other reviews, this property and its neighbor to the south are owned by the same family; if there is nobody in the office, go to the next hotel down the hill and they are there. This is a bit unconventional and slightly inconvenient but, the owners are very nice, the price is right and that makes... More

Apparently, this is a completely ordinary and basic motel, alike many other motel along the highway in US. But in spite of its simplicity, there is something at the motel that has done that we have chosen to use this motel several times in a relatively short time. The motel has a very good location just a few minutes east... More

Wow. This place is just... awful. The office is vacant. You have to walk through another property to get to *another* motel to check in, then haul yourselves back up a hill to your room. The room had obviously been remodeled, but... that's about it. No cleaning. No clean bedding. Holes in ceiling. Missing smoke detector. A toilet that didn't... More
