I visited this hotel during summer vacation. I booked 4 nights online with IHG points. For some reason on my last day, hotel front desk said I did not use points to reserve my last night. I told them, that it did not make sense that I would book three nights with points and one night without points and dollar. Hotel front desk had a lady named Priscilla. He was rude and not helpful at all. Even after showing that I am a IHG customer and card holder for years, she didn't care. She was adamant that I pay prime time night rate and would not help me in any way. Priscilla had worst attitude of any front desk, I have seen in years. We even told her to stop with rudeness, however she would not let it go. I don't mind paying extra money, however bad customer service and bad attitude is uncalled for. IHG and their shareholders owns the property and not Priscilla or front desk. If they treat long time IHG card holder like this, I can only imagine how they treat other customers.…
The hotel was in a great location with decent rooms. The breakfast variety each day was so good. The pool and wifi were nice as well. However, all of this was overshadowed our first night. We went to bed early after travel and time change. We wake up and eat and go to our car to find that someone broke into my rental vehicle. We called the police, and I told the front desk. Another patron came up to me appalled that I had just found out. She and her husband noticed at 8pm the night before and notified the front desk. The staff said they called but we didn't answer so they assumed we were sleeping. My husband asked why they wouldn't knock or leave a note or do anything. Instead, they were laughing and giggling the whole time. A man tried to figure out the cameras but couldn't. We quickly learned from the police officer that another recent break in happened in the same hotel garage just 4 spots down. The older gentleman that worked the desk was the only person who was helpful and attentive. The others just played around and could not care less. They offered for me to talk to the general manager but after six hours of getting a new car and police report there was zero time as we had a wedding and my husband's military bag was stolen. They comped me one night of points. They won't let me post my review for mentioning the car break in because it "promotes an illegal act," and the second time for "containing legally sensitive content." This whole ordeal is just seeming more suspicious between their lack of action, the cameras not working, and trying to keep my review hidden.…
Stayed here for a night, sort of a layover driving back from Anaheim back to the Bay Area. Decent free breakfast buffet. Coffee was weak though. It was like getting coffee from the gas stations. We also had to pay $10 for parking. The TV inside the rooms were small and dark. I believe this is an item they need to consider replacing. Kids had fun at the pool, clean and surprisingly, the temperature of the water was very nice. The spa was good too. The other thing we liked was the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided in the bathrooms. Conveniently placed in bottles with a pump by the showers. The fixture for the shower though, it was hard to tell which way to turn for hot or cold. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and thought this was a very good value.
Clean room, small but functional. Because It is dated, lots of plugs but a lack of USB connectors. That's ok, I'm prepared. What I was not prepared was the A/C not functioning. It was stuffy and the lack of A/C which worked basically as a fan did not nothing to alleviate temps of the room. Glad that we had only one night booked.
The hotel is on a busy street, but not so busy that getting in and out is a major challenge. It is a few miles east of the city center and old town. It has the basic amenities one expects at a Holiday Inn Express. There is an open parking lot outside, and a multi level garage if the lot is full (it wasn't during my stay). Due to COVID restrictions, the breakfast buffet area is closed to guests. Guests fill out an order form and hand it to the person working there, who gathers the items in a to go bag to take back to the room. Scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage (served on alternate days) came in individual serving size foil wrappers. Other options include cereal, yogurt, muffins, and various fruit juices. There is an outdoor pool and hot tub. Currently, the sign says "by appointment only." The room was quite large, with a desk, sofa, television and coffee table right inside the front door, and another television and chair in the bedroom area. The areas are separated by a short corridor but not a door. The hotel appears clean and well maintained, and the staff is friendly and efficient. It was about a 15 minute drive to the Rose Bowl Stadium, and about 30 minutes to Universal Studios. There are several shopping centers in the area, including grocery stores, and some nice restaurants. There is an included refrigerator and separate sink where the coffee maker sits.…
Hotel does a nice job on cleanliness and social distancing. Hot breakfast available (served by staff). Basic but nice. Friendly staff. Parking in lot or garage. Rooms were clean (although I would like to see more attention on the carpet). Reasonable lighting and outlet. Pool open with reservations.
I wasn't entirely sure what to expect as I drove along the road approaching the hotel. But after a very friendly check-in experience and looking around the hotel lobby I realized it was going to be as good as I had hoped for when I booked the room. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. If I were to nit-pick I would have liked another luggage rack. The breakfast the next morning was hot, tasty, and had good variety. The breakfast area was well-appointed and there was plenty of room for the guests having breakfast. Overall I felt the staff and facilities were a real credit to the hotel.
On Thanksgiving morning, I found a cockroach scuttling around in our room. I scooped it into a plastic cup and my husband took it down to the front desk. We were also disappointed to find a blood stain on our bed linens--definitely not what we expect from a hotel of this caliber. The manager wasn't on duty, but the clerk assured my husband that we would be contacted by the manger in a day or two. That was two weeks ago, and we still haven't heard a word.
Handicap accessible parking was right at the front door. Handicap accessible bathroom well set up. Room was clean, bed comfortable. Why four stars and not five? Three things: 1. At initial check in, they assigned us a room that was NOT handicap accessible. While they corrected the error immediately, “you only get one chance to make a first impression” and this was an unforced error. 2. After going to the trouble of making the room wheelchair friendly, someone (probably not the original architect) put a few too many pieces of furniture into the room. We had to shift a few pieces to allow maneuverability. 3. The in-room coffee was piss-poor and the coffee with the “free” (=“included”) breakfast was not much better. The rest of the breakfast was good.
Overall, this was a quality stay at a solid hotel. Several things for you to judge for yourself: 1) The staff were polite. A couple of them were eager to help, the others were a little distant (but not in a bad way). They were all professional (and a nice little touch--wore black uniforms that are usually seen at higher end hotels) 2) The building is being renovated, so there was a fair amount of construction noise on one side (I had to move rooms after the first nigth). 3) There is a fair amount of noise from the highway when facing the north side of the building. 4) Breakfast was great for a budget friendly hotel (better than similar hotels from other brands). There were several healthy options--organic soymilk in containers, veggie omelets, turkey sausage, etc. 5) The floor was a bit "creaky"--even gently and slowly walking, it would creak (and I wonder if the guests below could hear that). Note the building is being renovated so maybe this will be addressed. 6) Even in the part that hasn't been renovated yet, the furniture was in great condition. 7) Plenty of parking both in front and around back on a parking deck. 8) The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. 9) Housekeeping was excellent. 10) The air conditioning in one room had a musty smell, but the room that I switched to was fine (and things are being renovated, so may be fine afterward). Overall, really solid stay--nothing particularly exciting or bad, just delivered accommodations that met expectations.…
