The Westin Pasadena garners applause for its cleanliness and stylish atmosphere, with many guests finding the contemporary rooms and spacious lobby particularly inviting. While its location is a hit for easy access to attractions and parking convenience, opinions on the hotel's overall upkeep are divided. Guest experiences with service and value vary, ranging from praise for professionalism to frustration over unexpected costs. Room comfort is appreciated by some, yet others point out maintenance issues. Amenities like the elegant pool, despite being considered small by some, add to the hotel's appeal.

The great advantage of this property is the location. It's an easy walk to downtown Pasadena activities. The parking was also smartly managed. There's a public lot beneath the hotel and the hotel offers a modest discount on the nightly rate -- very simple and reasonably priced for an urban location.

The pool area is a bit small for a property of this size. I'm not sure what can be done. We had breakfast at the on-site restaurant which was pleasantly arranged with very comfortable outdoor seating (indoor was also available.

The hotel restaurant is in desperate need of organization and run in an efficient manner and even a menu upgrade. The staff could not seat people, clean tables or take orders in an efficient manner. They had plenty of staff but were disorganized. The manager came in once and took some food and left. He could see there were at least ten people waiting to be seated and tables to be cleaned but did nothing. The staff were nice but in efficient. We went to the restaurant for Thanksgiving for $94.00 a plate and the ham and salad and dessert was terrible. Salad had soft over ripe tomatoes and the lettuce was wilted and soft. We had to return utensils and plates that were dirty. The chairs were filthy and lumpy. A very poor representation of a restaurant in a Westin.

Check in was smooth and we put our request in for extra Towels pre- arrival on the Marriott Bonvoy App. A late 4:00 pm check out request as Platinum Marriott members along with a breakfast voucher ( worth $50) per day were offered or points. I chose the breakfast. You can eat inside Venetia or outside on the fountain patio. The full breakfast, Burrito breakfast and granola with fruit and yogurt were excellent. OJ, and Starbucks coffee . The breakfast choices were very good to start the day. The restaurant staff were exceptional, fast, and friendly.
Our room on the 9th floor gave us views of the San Gabriel Mountains and City Buildings. We turned off the central air and enjoyed a cool breeze from 2 room windows you can open but not enough to fall out. The beds were heavenly and the 2 bedroom had a hidden refrig, and large TV . Our room was missing a hair dryer but After a call room services delivered one 40 min later. Rainfall shower head with hot water and good pressure. The toilet seat was a little too low for ease and comfort for me plus it would have been nice to have a hook somewhere to hang a robe in the bathroom. The bathroom doors are pocket sliders. We ate at a local fav “ Lucky Boy” 1 block away . There are other restaurants very close by. Not much masking in California but the staff in the restaurant and cleaning services were masking. We are from the east coast and chose to mask in public places, elevators , hotels etc. Hand sanitizer stations were in the lobby, a computer with printing in the “ Library” was there for guests.@ An Asian Museum and City Hall are close. We were in for the CrueleFest concert at the Rose-bowl. A short drive away. We drove from LAX to Pasadena - about 1 hr depending on freeway traffic.A church and gas station are near by. We used the $ 22 self park with in and out privileges that connects to the hotel which was convenient. Street Parking is metered with an App credit card set up on the street. We didn’t want to deal with that hassle and walked to Old Town Pasadena instead. We booked months ahead of time to get a better rate. The hotel was sold out. We enjoyed our stay.

I stayed at the Westin in June 2024 for the Nebula Conference. It was a very disappointing hotel experience. When a hotel charges $399 per night for a room that is not even a suite, the room should at least be well-maintained. The Westin Pasadena is overpriced and in dire need of refurbishing. The curtains in my room were torn, the cabinet below the bathroom sink was peeling and stained, and the bathroom's baseboards and area around the shower were stained, warped, and battered.

I contacted management and complained about the condition of the room. The general manager responded to my message with this apology: "Please allow me to apologize for the condition of the hotel and your guest room. The hotel was last fully renovated in 2017. There was a pause during the pandemic, but discussions are taking place for another renovation in the next 12-18 months. However, I realize this does not change your experience. I realize you may be hesitant to return, however, we would certainly appreciate another opportunity to provide you with the accommodations and customer service that we both expect. Please contact me directly and I will be happy to assist with any arrangements."

I'm glad that I checked out of the Westin early and stayed at a better hotel. I have no intention of ever staying at the Westin Pasadena again. And I will avoid staying at any Westin hotel. There are plenty of other hotels that offer better accommodations and better service.

Another trip to LA County, and another visit to the Westin Pasadena. Always try to get this hotel for government rate when work brings me to this area. If there's any type of event in the stadium, then the hotel is usually booked solid. For this visit, there was some type of large meeting/conference, and I was told hotel was fully booked, so I was happy to have gotten a room. Not just any room, but a surprise upgrade to the "Palm Suite." A very nice room on 5th floor, and nicest I've had at this hotel. Except for some peeling wallpaper in bathroom, the room was exceptional. Just wish they had more channels for the general television viewing.
Check-in very late with Phillip was friendly and easy. As usual, the highlight was Norman in the Ventura Restaurant. He always greets you with a friendly smile and attitude, and goes out of his way to make sure everything is excellent. He exemplifies the "can do" attitude. Always enjoy the Westin breakfast which is made fresh for every order. Especially happy that diet coke products are available at bar.
Valet service throughout week was fairly quick for number of cars coming in/out. Can't wait to return.

This was one of the worst value for price paid, customer service and overall quality of hotel experiences I have had at any Westin property, worldwide.

There is no Marriott/Westin club for premier members. The safes in the room are disabled (and there is NO mention of this on the web site, kind of a surprise when I couldn't lock my laptop). The gift/sundries shop is closed and dark. Breakfast was expensive and incredibly slow (15 minutes for a waiter to show up). The front driveway is poorly designed and always congested, partly because they leave cars double parked and partly because there's just no room for valet, registration and ride share pick up.

The paint was peeling off of our ceiling. The wallpaper was peeling in multiple places. The gym is small but adequate as was the pool, but here was no water in the cooler. The pillows had the consistency of gravel. I gave the service 2 stars -- basically 4 for housekeeping and zero for the front desk who couldn't even greet me by name.

There are several other similar properties nearby.

I arrived to the hotel at midnight. Valet was there and was great. Yes, it is 22 dollars. I checked in quickly. The lobby area was very nice. Went up to the room. The room is very nice as well, all furniture was in good condition. The room itself is what i would expect from a hotel like this. The shower was good as well, however be careful setting anything on the bathroom floor because the showers design allows water to easily fall onto the floor. If you have more than two people, ask for towels ahead of time because the room only had two large towels. A large television in the room and a refrigerator. The refrigerator did have two water bottles inside... i don’t know wether the hotel provided them or if they were left in there by prior guests, so I left them alone. The beds... this was the true disappointment. The beds were not very comfortable and felt like cheap beds. Fix the beds and you have a nice hotel here.

We stayed at the Westin this past week choosing it over the Langham because it said they still had 24 hour room service on their website (totally wrong).
They have the hotel set up so you use all back of the house access. Service elevators, housekeeping hallways, basically all the areas they have kept is out of for the last 50 years. It is very dreary and depressing. The room was absolutely disgusting. Tired, stained and generally unkempt. Linens were hospital level. Needless to say there was no room service and there was no housekeeping for a 5 day stay! The valet is in essence running the whole hotel and taking care of the guests needs. We ended up checking out after a few days. It was better to live in construction than to live in a noisy, dormitory style hotel room.
It could not have been worse (well i guess it could have been).
Kudos to the valet for making the whole thing run. Absolutely shocking how far this hotel has fallen over the years. Sad. Please be advised this is NOT the most beautiful part of Pasadena. Far from it. I am an50 year Pasadena resident and i was mortified to think visitors are coming here with any type of expectation. It’s not the experience you want a visitor to Pasadena to have- Covid or no Covid. Hotels are doing it well elsewhere, someone needs to help this location out from with in the corporation before you completely lose control of it. Sad.

First, we're tough on properties, so that the hotel was remarkable enough to warrant making a review is noteworthy.
We needed a place to stay while letting open house occur at home. Weather has been on the cool side, so beach was not a choice. Add that we have two dogs that would have to make the stay with us
Pasadena has good eats, and good walking areas, so we chose to book here. TBH, the property is certainly not a resort property, but more a business support type feel.
Access to the entrance is a circular drive, the attendants were helpful in finding a luggage cart, and they offer valet and self park for the same price.
It's the front desk that makes this property valuable. We were given an opportunity to upgrade to a junior suite, and they were delightful in doing so.
The junior suite room is spacious, with a 2 TVs, sectional sofa, built in desk, and free internet.
Was some concern the dogs were going to be freaked by staying in a hotel room, and there was quite a bit of growling and burst barks, but eventually they settled in for the night.
There was a wedding party at the hotel, but it wasn't an issue. Briefly there was some rambunctious activity but all was quiet by 10pm
Hotel is close walking to old downtown, and cutting through city hall makes quick work of it, too.
Should mention that there's a nice park just down a couple of blocks, and the dogs were super happy about it.
Back to the front desk. They were kind enough to get us early check AND late check out. We were elated with the results, so we booked another Saturday night. Mark, the front desk person, was exceptional in addressing our needs when we hit a bump on arrival today. Can't say enough about how well he handle us, and was able to take care of the issue.
We just returned from a luxury property in the desert and that front desk wasn't as friendly or as quick of foot as Mark is here at the Westin.
Again, we're a bit painful as hotel guests, so take this in consideration when looking around for accommodations in Pasadena.
