Palo Alto motels are generally overpriced with additional taxes and fees. This motel was adequate with comfortable bed, Our room was upstairs and set back from noisy El Camino Real, overlooking the swimming pool filled with leaves and branches from rainstorms. It's about 30 minutes from Stanford Hospital and Clinics and due to an early appointment, we had to leave...

My family stayed here for the night to be close by for a visit at Stanford Hospital. It was about a 10-15 minute drive from Stanford. We'd initially intended on checking in around 5-6 pm but as we were kept late at the hospital we found out that we wouldn't be able to check in as noted. I called the...

This is by far the nicest family-owned and operated motel I have ever stayed in. Extremely clean, very well-appointed, and exceptionally accommodating and gracious hosts. A tremendous surprise in the midst of the Silicon Valley - a real home-away-from-home.

If you are unwilling to pay more than $300 per night for a hotel room in Palo Alto, then you are forced to choose among offerings along El Camino Real which are located in buildings built as motels in the 1950s or 1960s. I've tried a number of those, and it seems like they are either not very good, or...

We stayed here back in July, 2016 and we were impressed. I never stay in motels because they seem to be of less quality than hotels, in general. However, this place has changed my mind. This family owned motel is charming and very well maintained and was a pleasure to stay in. We stayed in The Lounge Room. It was...

Great motel. Family stayed here for medical appointments at Stanford. Short distance, very clean and quiet and take and go breakfast. Would stay here again. Although we didn't use the pool, it was sparkling clean and the furniture around it was very nice.

Their staff were very kind and helpful - the rooms were very CLEAN and COMFORTABLE - it's very quiet there too. When I was discharged from the hospital I stayed an extra...

I have stayed at this hotel many times since the mid 80's and seen the remodels along the way. But this time, it's been a few years, I was very impressed with what they have done with the hotel, outdoor pool very clean, furniture in excellent condition, very comfortable and layed out with a beach towel on lounge chairs so...

Our family (of 45 adults, children and infants) stayed for 6 days at the Country Inn and had a wonderful time. We were in Palo Alto for my nephews wedding and all stayed together. There were so many of us staying at the Inn they decorated the lobby of the Inn to reflect the wedding colors. They might not do...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Palo Alto Country Inn was built in 1954 along the El Camino Real, the main thoroughfare of that time. Shaded by large trees and surrounded by orchards, travelers would stay here when visiting Stanford University or the city of San Francisco. Founded by Italian immigrants, the Cesano family took care to provide excellent service, and clean, well-maintained rooms for their guests. Many became good friends as they made the Country Inn their home away from home. Today, the inn lies at the heart of a busy Silicon Valley. Destinations such as Google, Yahoo, Apple, Stanford and many Bay Area attractions are within easy reach. Although the surroundings may have changed, the Cesano children and grandchildren have carried on the traditions of providing an affordable and comfortable place to stay. The staff and the accommodations continue to earn the trust of returning clientele and the rave reviews of new visitors. Some special features of the Country Inn are the lovely garden patio that greets you as you arrive, the pool area with available barbeques and ample patio furniture, rooms with kitchens, free wi-fi, and consistently friendly service. At the Country Inn you will find all of the modern conveniences as well as enjoy the warmth and welcome of a quaint inn of days gone by. Please consider us as your hosts on your next trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. ... more   less
