From early check in Sunday to our departure we encountered some very capable people doing what they needed to do to ensure a safe and satisfying, I daresay relaxing experience. Raymond at the front desk is exceptionally capable who responded quickly to our few needs. He really needs to move into a higher level position here or elsewhere as his talents are underutilized and will undoubtedly wither.

The grounds were very well maintained. Unlike our previous stay at the Westin Desert Willow, (see my recent review), we did not see a single discarded mask or glove or litter anywhere on the property. Housekeeping staffing seemed more than ample to deal with daily housekeeping duties and all of our interactions with them were pleasant and professional. Someone is treating and training them well and it shows.

The spacious two bedroom villa we occupied was well appointed with all the supplies we needed to enjoy preparing most meals in the villa. Every request for additional towels and toiletries was answered quickly.

The grounds were exceptionally clean and neat which made for a very enjoyable stay.

To the exception: we visited the Mesquite pool a few times. The place was spotless, cleaning was done thoroughly and 'social distance keeping' was provided and monitored. That said, according to the rules, people cannot bring their own music to the pool. Frankly it's rude and inconsiderate and stupid to annoy others who don't perhaps agree with the choice. When we made the attendant aware of several miscreants playing music, I asked if it was permitted and she said 'absolutely not'. Then she asked, 'where is it coming from'. She, the attendant spoke with the offenders and was told they were paying enough money and they were going to continue to listen to the noise. 'Marriott needs my money more than I need Marriott' was one choice response. Thinking that the attendant called someone with more leverage to address the situation, we noticed a badge-wearing, red shirted character come into the enclosure, walk by the people making the noise, and he said not a word to them and left.

There's really no need to provide details of added remarks made by the offenders about the 'inconsiderate pool attendant'. Suffice to say, there seems to be one set of rules for those displaying their 'white privilege', asking for peace and quiet, and another for those who perceive themselves as exempt. I can assure readers that this form of microaggression and others will continue and in time a great resort like this one will experience a similar flight plaguing many shopping malls unless rules are enforced uniformly! Reasonable people don't want to be bothered by people ignoring rules. All in all, we enjoyed a great stay.

My wife and I scheduled a one night visit on short notice to this property and were very happy with the villa we were assigned. I read a few reviews about this property, so maybe there is a large variability between units, but I can tell you that our was first class. We were on the second floor with a view of the golf course. Our villa had two rooms and a large, spacious balcony, The bedroom had a very comfortable king bed and a large bathroom with multiple counters. It had a door that led outside to the balcony. The living area had a large, comfortable couch and a a kitchen.

Our all in cost for one night was about $250 which compares very favorably to hotels in the area that offer less square footage and amenities.

Check in is 4:00 and we were there ahead of time, so we spent the afternoon at one of the pools. At check in they made some promises about getting us in the room early and they did deliver on that promise. We were assigned a room at 3:30. The check in process is flawless, with one exception.

In the registration area, we were asked to go to a desk to receive a discount card for restaurants in the area. I am always a little suspicious of these, but it seemed straight forward so we did that and, surprise! They wanted us to buy another vacation. We did not need or want the sales pitch. If we had to do it again, I would skip the discount card - there are limited uses anyway - and skip the sales pitch.

But, and this is the reason for our less than stellar rating, their check out time is 10:00 a.m. That is very aggressive. One of the conditions of our rate is that we would not ask for a late checkout, so we did in fact get out by 10:00, but it did’t feel very good. With a 4:00 check in, a noon checkout is more appropriate in my view.

Oh, and we received a phone call prior to checkout asking us to be sure to stop by the registration area to receive our special offer. Didn’t fall for it. We checked out by phone.

We stayed a week at the villas and loved every minute. The check in experience was wonderful, they were courteous, friendly and helpful. It is a time share so of course there is the option for another vacation if you listen to a promo, but no pushiness at all, just say no if you don't want it. We were given a discount card for various restaurants in the area which we used a couple times during the week.

We picked up a light dinner and lunch from the shop near checkin, it also had other essentials, but we ended up never needing it again.

Our unit was a one bedroom. It was beautiful, with nice furnishings and a comfortable bed and a little patio looking out at the golf course. It was just a little chilly in the morning though so we didn't use it.

The golf courses are beautiful and my husband had a great time on the Palms Course- lost a few balls to the lakes :-)

The pools were beautiful. We were walking distance to two, but only used the larger one so I could swim laps. I can't express what a joy it was to swim at night with only the stars to shine on me- bliss!

I participated in one resort activity and had a good time. There is a walking course with workout stations around the villas and we noticed quite a few couples taking advantage of them. Yoga class every morning out on the grass also was well attended.

We had dinner at the Mikado Restaurant at the hotel one night and again everything was well done and delicious. Taking the boat to the restaurant upped the notch for an outstanding evening.

We found the location to be wonderful and centrally located to many of the places we visited during our week.

Everything about the villas and the workers we interacted with was excellent. I highly recommend staying here and hope that we will be able to do so again.

Our villa felt clean. The kitchen equipment looked almost new since they were so clean. We appreciated the sanitizing wipes and all the safety precautions that were implemented - including the pool reservation system. We didn’t have any trouble getting pool time during our week’s stay and the staff was always friendly.

Checkin was a breeze handeled by a very efficient member of the front dest team, though since she was wearing a face covering and she was talking a mile a minute she was hard to understand.

Had a two bedroom villa and there is everything you will need for a nice stay, though they say that they do a deep clean and sanatize between customers, i brought my own sanatize towels and did my own wipe down of all surfaces and things I may touch during my stay, just to put my mind at ease.

Now onto the not so good points. Hot water, one has to run the fawcett for some considerable time to get the hot water to come out, being that I hate wasting good water especially in the desert, I feel management should address this problem.
Being that the average temparture for the past week was over 105 degrees each day it would be good to be able to soak in a non heated pool each day, but for COVID 19 reasons you only get two hours a day with no chance of getting another reservation for the same day at any of the pools on site. So no cooling off for the best part of the day unless you want to spend all your time in your unit.

All in all I had a very relaxing time at the villas but it would have been better if one could only use the pool for a longer period of time.

Checkout was as fast as the checkin process.

Would I stay here again, maybe but only after Covid 19 has left our shores...

This hotel has been very disappointing from the first day.
The room:
False or misleading information. The room was to be for four guests with a fold-away sofa bed, there was never any mention that the sofa bed was for infants or toddlers. The sofa was a love seat as a trundle bed with a crib mattress; besides, there was no bedding in the room had to request bedding twice and wait for over 45 minutes for service. Also, there were no cups for coffee, had to request his as well, after much complaining I was able to get another room and in the process was charged twice and waited for 5 days to get my refund.
The property:
The property was oversold, it was stated that there was a Starbucks on the property only to find out the little store serves Starbuck’s coffee. Pool hours were much shorter and difficult to reserve than published, overall the service was very poor.

I understand that during these trying times of social distancing there have to be regulations and changes but as things open up there should be more done to help guests made to feel more comfortable. It is ridiculous that there is only one pool with extended hours and all pools have a last hour of reservation at 3:00 pm when we have days over 100 degrees, yet there is no pool for an afternoon swim.

The lost and found is nonresponsive even though they were notified within 1-1/2 hours after check-out of an item left behind. There is very little concern for the guests or their concerns.

I have been a long time Marriot member I have reached Platinum Elite on several occasions and have stayed at Marriot properties in China, Vietnam, Mexico, Canada, and all over the US, and have never experienced this type of treatment. Needless to say, I feel like I will now be promoting Hilton properties.

We normally do not splurge on hotels for a short trip, but with our adult son traveling with us we went all out for a 2BR/2BA suite. First of all, the line to check in took 1/2 hour; there weren't a lot of people on line, but it went very slowly. Secondly, they couldn't accommodate our request for a top floor/view. The room was OK but very dark. One thing we insist on in a hotel is cleanliness, and when we first got into the shower we found several hairs on the shower wall. Yuck! There was also a smell coming from the kitchen sink so I had to put a lemon in the garbage disposal which helped. This made us question the cleanliness of the whole place, so we weren't comfortable. Definitely not worth the money we spent and would not stay here again.

2 bedroom suite was amazingly spacious. Nice they have pickleball, pool and ping pong available to enjoy and you can borrow the equipment. Fantastic they have water and ice at the pools to keep you hydrated. The grounds look amazing. A bonus that they have several electric car charging stations. Housekeeping was very responsive to requests for more towels, soap, etc.

Disappointed they don't have insects under control. I texted them stating there was a cockroach in our sink under a glass ( I trapped it with a glass since it was alive) and we had already found some ants, a spider and what appeared to be an inchworm and I asked them to spray around our room. All they did was remove the cockroach. Two days later and I had found 3 more inchworms in our room- yes, alive. At that point, they agreed to have pest control spray inside our room while we were gone for the day. Gross. I understand it's the desert and there are lots of insects. We did not have our doors open except to quickly enter and exit. We didn't keep our balcony door open. I found one more dead inchworm after they sprayed. This is just simply unacceptable. This is a Marriott Vacation Club Resort where you expect it not to be a roach motel. I'm a loyal Marriott customer and expect not to be sleeping with insects.

The pools also need to be cleaned. How hard is it to have someone take the net on a pole to remove the major tree debris? Not hard, but it's not done. There was such a large hairball in the pool on our last day that my daughter said "That's it, I'm done with this place". Really, Marriott? Your reputation is supposed to be great, but I'll be looking elsewhere next time I stay in the area.

From the moment we checked in mid January until we left late January we had no problems at all. We had a two bedroom villa with the main door and then two separate doors for each of the two units, keys worked for all three doors, no complaints. Both units were large, complete full kitchens, well stocked with dishes, cups, glasses, pots and pans, dish washer, clothes washer and dryer and soap for both, more if you needed it. One king bed and pull out queen sofa and two queens in the other villa. We had a downstairs villa, big patio looking out onto the first fairway of the Palm course. Pool close at end of our building, small store easy walking distance on the property, plenty of stores and restaurants near by. Covered parking free with villa.
Big TV, chairs, couch, dinning room, living room, stall shower and separate tub. A real gem, very comfortable for eight days. Service at check in and check out was flawless.

Just returned from nine nights here. Overall it was very nice. Room was well equipped and we were able to make most meals in the room. There are several grocery stores within 3 miles of the resort. Golf course is spectacular. We discovered the putting course at the JW Marriott next door and had a great time over there. The only negative was the pool situation. Some were closed on random days, others closed early. Some opened late. The pool in front of our unit had a max capacity of 30 but they never let more than 25 in. It was frustrating when my wife went over and I tried to join 15 minutes later. Pool attendant said they were at capacity but I only counted 24. When I pointed it out he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. It felt like they are still getting staffing figured out. Housekeeping was wonderful. We liked that if we needed towels for the room we just had to text and within 30 minutes they delivered new sets of towels and picked the used towels from just outside our door. I was overall impressed with their COVID protocols. Great location and I’d recommend. We weren’t members but weren’t treated any differently.

Terri, it really will depend upon where you end up in the complex. This is a really, really big monstrosity of a complex. There are a lot of pools here. Find out where they decide to locate you. We were in the Jasmin far-end of the property and saw there were maybe 3 pools (various sizes) in the immediate location. But if you are adventurous, why not hop the free property bus and go up to the hotel for the seriously huge mega-pools which cost nothing extra to use. And you will have loads of resort choices to make this a hotel-level experience. Just saying ...
