While the view was great, our room had no hand towels or wash cloths. The shower was rusty. Screen door and AC broken so the room got hot. There was no information on Wi-Fi or local places to visit for dinner or leisure. No value whatsoever here. Would not recommend.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife found this place as we needed somewhere to stay near the Island Packers dock for our trip to Anacapa Island. I had originally suggested another place, but I’m glad she chose this one. Service is very friendly here. We loved the woman working in the continental breakfast area. She was SO nice. At one point, my 3 year old son was with me being ....silly and she was very It empathetic and understanding (as she mentioned she had a child around that age). I really wish I remembered her name as she was just so pleasant and nice and even remembered me when I returned to the food area (and she was busy). Continental breakfast was good too. The food is served for you in a to go box and/or in a paper bag. Very reasonable offerings especially during this pandemic times. Even hot items were offered which was a surprise. The room was really nice and clean. Everything very pleasant. Covid elevator rules was only 1 family in the elevator but there was never a back up as there were only 3 floors. Pool was closed too which was fine. For those with kids, there is a decent park located right next door. The playground is a little old but safe and enough for the kids to do. There were also some docks about 1 minute away from the park with sea lions resting and barking at times. Pretty neat to see them that close. If we ever return to Oxnard, I would definitely return to this hotel in the future.

We chose this place for a one-night stay as we were going out with friends and didn’t want to drive for an hour in the dark to get back home. Hampton Inns have always been one of the best chains in my experience, but although we paid nearly $300 for the night (including taxes), the room was very disappointing. Ground floor, faced into the parking lot, carpet very stained and old. Indifferently clean (pretzel and other trash on floor at head of bed). Room was dark and felt like a reject. Bathroom was spacious and clean, and although the various outlets and USB plug-ins on the lamps were useful, they were ugly. Plastic ottomans not a turn-on. Hallway also featured a dirty, stained carpet. What really got me, however, was the $12 parking fee … when the lot was half-empty. Since when do offramp chains charge for parking?? Maybe in SF or NYC or other big cities, but come on — this was Oxnard. Not Santa Barbara or Carmel. Hampton Inn redeemed itself somewhat in the morning. We were promised “hot breakfast,” but I thought, yeah right, COVID, maybe there’ll be a waffle setup along with the dry cereal and toast. I was pleasantly surprised to find good old scrambled eggs and bacon, just like 2019 (we didn’t sample the hash browns). There was a waffle maker too, of course, and cranberry juice, a favorite of mine not always available in chain hotels. No English muffins, only white bread and a few sad bagels. Only one flavor of yogurt available. The coffee setup in the lobby included Equal and Splenda, but in the room only (shudder) Sweet’n’Lo. Another inadequacy of the room was providing one coffee cup and one coffee serving, and no bathroom cups. Aren’t there mostly two people in each room? We easily obtained more supplies, but at this price, one shouldn’t have to ask. After breakfast we strolled around to the back of the hotel, where three stories of rooms faced the marina. Yes, I could have asked for an upgrade to one of these rooms, and I probably should have. How much more could they have asked for a decent room that didn’t face out on the parking lot? As it happened, however, we slept in a dump, and paid a lot. Ask for a water-view room and you’ll probably be happier.

Staff is first rate: professional, courteous and helpful. Rooms very well done. Recent remodeling made all the right changes. Views of the marina are delightful. Rates were better than up the coast or farther south. Use GPS to navigate to the address...worth the trip.

We enjoyed our top floor Harborside room - it was very quiet with a patio that allowed us to see the harbor activity. Not just the boats and people, but also seals that entertained us on the deck while we unwound from a busy travel day. Surprisingly, this hotel had a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, and more. Our room was clean and looked newly renovated. Nice spot all in all. NOTE: Be sure to check your final bill. We booked AAA rate with 'free' parking, but this was not reflected initially. I called hotel and on the spot, very nice person apologized and corrected the error, and my card was credited the difference within 48 hours.
