My motel of first resort when I make my annual treks to the Redwoods. It puts you mere minutes away from the utterly amazing Newton B Drury Scenic Hwy 101 bypass, the Ladybird Johnson Grove, & the Tall Trees Trail (for which you'll need a special pass from the PineCreek Ranger Station just south of Trinidad). Ive stayed here perhaps... More

We were traveling from San Fran, CA to Seattle, WA and wanted a one night stay somewhere in between the long trip on Highway 101... We googled hotels and came up with the Palm Café and Motel.. This place was a gem in the rough and Spencer at the desk was very friendly. He was very accommodating and we would... More

Room had a bad infestation of bed bugs. They refunded the money after we showed them the bugs crawling on the pillows and bed. Worried all our stuff is infested now. My brother even had one on his lap after we changed and got in the car. The room smelled like dogs the mattress smelled like dogs as well

We had a reservation for two nights so that we could visit the redwoods. After the first night we discovered bedbugs crawling everywhere. We had to throw away our suitcases and all off our belongings. After showing the employees the bugs and a picture of what a bedbug is on Google they refunded our money and we left. We spent... More

Needed a place to stay whilst heading up California's north coast. A room was available and the price was right. This hotel needs some TLC as it easily shows how tired it is. But, for me, a hotel need to be clean, comfortable and safe and although the room needs an update, it was just fine.

Good diner food (burgers and fries, breakfast), but the appearance of the restaurant, both inside and out, is a disaster. We would never have stopped if I hadn't read about it on TripAdvisor. I'm surprised it can pass state food inspections, but hey, we ate their twice (nothing else available) and would give the food a B-B+.

I had the bacon omelet, and my husband had the sausage omelet. They were both fabulous! And they kept the great hot coffee coming! We also bought one of their EXCELLENT fresh-baked pies to take home! We also bought some darling locally-made items in their little gift shop. Loved this place!

The Palms is a nice stop. Decent rooms, if you're not high maintenance, and the food was good enough to satisfy me (strawberry rhubarb pie was to die for.) I stayed here May 28-30, 2016. There was a very disturbing sound between 1:30-2am that was not far from our window. We were in room 5. I was still awake texting... More

We stopped in for a late mid-week lunch while on our trip through the Redwoods. We had a burger and turkey BLT. Both where well prepared. They offered a Salad bar as an option to fries which was pretty good for this size place and a nice change. Nothing fancy but good food and good value for basic café fare.

I ordered the Hamburger steak with caramelized onions. Best choice I could have ever made. Don't even get me started on the pie. Fantastic ceases to describe how good this pie is. We got the chocolate cream pie and the whipped topping looked a bit overwhelming, but we later found it to be absolutely perfect. All of the pies are... More
