Although I'm nearly a year overdue writing my glowing recommendation of the Bear Valley Inn, my travel notes reminded me quickly of how much I enjoyed my stay. I was a solo guest for a week during June 2014, taking day trips and hikes around the Point Reyes National Seashore and surrounding areas. Perfect location to access everything. My home...

We choose this inn based on the facts that they are a green business and could accommodate a family of five for only 2 nights on a long weekend. The inn has a lot of charm. We were staying in the cottage adjacent to the main house where the owners live. I did not actually meet them (my husband briefly...

We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit to the Point Reyes area. I'm glad that the after hours check-in worked for your family. We have plans to upgrade the sink in the cottage. The rate for the cottage is based on the number of people staying with a base rate of $200 mid-week and $225 on weekends with...

Point Reyes National Seashore is one of our favorite destinations in the world, and we've stayed in various cottages and rental houses when coming here. This time, it was hard to find an available cottage that would sleep 2 adults and 2 children. I was a bit nervous about booking Hummingbird Cottage at the Bear Valley Inn, as the reviews...

I loved this B&B. Spend a chilly night in front of their fire, sipping Sherry, with our feet up on their little stuffed bear, then headed upstairs to enjoy clean, well-appointed rooms with comfy beds and warm comforters. I liked the breakfast and was really delighted to know everything was organic and fresh. Granted, it is not a huge hearty...

We are so pleased you had a good visit to Pt. Reyes. Thank you for your kind words about the inn. We agree that there is a lot to do in the area and we look forward to welcoming you back to the area when you return.

We made a return trip to the Bear Valley Inn and stayed once more in the Hummingbird Cottage. There are many pluses to this little inn--proximity to Pt. Reyes Station, Inverness, and all the great hiking trails nearby, as well as the overall comfortable-ness of the BVI...like a well-worn hiking boot. I appreciated the "green" practices of the Inn and...

We stayed here for a winter getaway and loved it. Cute house and well located for everything we wanted to do. Eat, hike, whale- watch. We got great tips for all of these activities. We will be back! Only request would be to have hand lotion in the room. Nice to have when you have been out in the sun...

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Bear Valley Inn. Due to the dry winter it has been lovely to visit the area (except not quite as green as usual). However, I am very sorry that there was not hand lotion in the rooms. There should be. We will make sure that they have not gone missing.

Tasty organic food, a 'green' operation, and comfy accomodations. Lovely location, withing easy biking distance to Point Reyes Natl Seashore. see http://www.bearvinn.com/breakfast/BVI_Environmental_Award_Article_marinij.pdf for more info.

I really like the owners -- they're helpful and have wonderful tips to share about the area. I also love how they're aiming to make it a green inn. What a nice tea selection too. Areas of improvement: I did agree with some other reviewers that the breakfast seemed to be lacking (at least during the weekdays) The other issue...

We get great guests at the Bear Valley Inn. In 2010 we lowered our rates and changed the breakfast offering, focusing on organic granola and muesli, Straus milk, fresh fruit, juice and coffee and tea (a large selection of Mighty Leaf teas). On the weekends we bake scones or muffins. The breakfast is healthy and leaves lots of room for...

I stayed at the Bear Valley Inn while on a business trip in 2004 and again 2007. My room was very bright and comfortable. It was an easy walk down the road to dinner. The drive and beaches over at Point Reyes are gorgeous. What a quaint area. I would love to go back for fun and relaxation next time.

I secured the Hummingbird Cottage, a separate space adjacent to the main house, at the Bear Valley Inn for 4 women for early December. The cottage is centrally located to Pt. Olema is a very small place with population 50, located just two miles south of the town of Point Reyes Station. However in Olema there are six lodging properties and a public campground. We are located just one half mile from the headquarters for the Point Reyes National Seashore. There are two restaurants and a deli in Olema. I recall...
