Located in downtown Ojai, and a five-minute drive from the Blue Iguana Inn, the Emerald Iguana Inn is Ojai’s most hidden gem. Canopied by majestic oak, sycamore and pepper trees, the Emerald Iguana Inn’s Craftsman Art Nouveau allure is responsible in part to Marc Whitman’s Spanish inspiration, specifically surrealist architect Gaudí. Barcelona influences are reflected in the expressive stone and tile work, accented by dramatic archways and organic lines thus inviting tranquility and an overwhelming sense of peace. Calming water features can be found throughout the property, including an even more dramatic tile-mosaic iguana fountain. The Inn’s serene courtyard pool and spa is surrounded by its cottages and original architectural elements, some dating to 1906, including exposed river rock and brick walls. Guests enjoy complimentary continental breakfast, as well as weekend and holiday wine and cheese, and as with the Blue Iguana Inn, in-room massage therapy are available year-round.
We came to Ojai for a Belinda Carlisle concert. We wanted to stay somewhere that was within walking distance and close enough to restaurants. This resort is so nice and quiet, beautifully decorated, and has wonderful, helpful staff. I would recommend this resort to any couple, who would love a nice getaway in a beautiful location.

Overall it was an ok stay. We were in Ojai for 4 nights and this hotel had the advantage of being with walkers distance of the shopping and restaurants, This was an advantage but note that off the main strip is not walker friendly- there are more or less no pavements which is a bit dangerous at night as you have to share the road with cars. We upgraded the room from the original booking to the Grasshopper. Overall the room was nice. There is a slightly odd arrangement where the bath is on one side of the bedroom and the sink is also in the bedroom not the bathroom. One of the advantages of the room, we thought, was that it had a small patio but we never sat there as it was in the shadows . Overall the room was clean and comfortable. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice lady who also was there at checkout. A couple of things to bear in mind. We had just come from Palm Springs where we stayed in a motel with a well- heated pool. We were told when we arrived at the Emerald Inn that the pool was not heated so we could not use it which was disappointing. On the last evening guests arrived at the room next door which also extended above our room. As there are adjoined doors between rooms we could hear their conversation and movement as I am sure they could hear us. We were lucky it was one night only because it could be a problem for some. Also note reception is closed in the evening so the hotel can feel a bit of a lonely place. Overall we were happy enough but by comparison with other places we stayed in California for a similar price, we were a bit underwhelmed. Overall we were happy enough but I suppose by comparison with other pla…

Emerald Iguana is such a charming spot, within walking distance of all that downtown Ojai has to offer. My room (Feather) was beautiful, clean, and quiet. The front desk staff was helpful and quick when I needed a lightbulb replaced. This is a cozy spot, a nice home away from home for a quick stay and even for a longer one.

We have stayed in Ojai before but never here (or the sister property - Blue Iguana Inn). Had a great time for 2 nites. Loved the quietness of the inn - perfect place to relax and read or just hang out. After driving for a while, it was a nice change to walk into town for our meals. Although we had a coffee maker in the room, liked the idea of the coffee/snack room by the pool. Bed was comfortable and room was very relaxing. The staff that we interacted with were all personable. The grounds have a good feel with all the plants. We would come again if we were in the area. Thank you Emerald Iguana Inn!

Beautiful inn with lovely grounds and cozy, comfortable rooms. The hospitality lounge was great for coffee, snacks and supplies. Great location for easy walks into town for restaurants, shopping and wine tasting. We had a great first visit to Ojai!

A charming inn with detached private rooms- more like casitas - and gorgeous grounds. Our room was huge, with a king bed, leather chairs by the fireplace, a kitchenette nook, bathroom and a private patio. We got a breakfast basket, which had enough food for light breakfasts for three days. The kitchenette nook had a coffeemaker, toaster, mini-fridge, plates, cups, etc., and coffee and tea supplies. We also appreciated the welcome room that had snacks, games and dvds. We would have loved the pool in a warmer season and wish we’d brought swimsuits for the hot tub. The property is 3-minute drive/15-minute walk from downtown Ojai. We’d definitely stay here again.

The property consists of separate units on a beautifully landscaped property which gives all the rooms a sense of privacy and a feeling of being in a garden. A walkway winds through the property and around the pool and jacuzzi. We stayed in the Tree House room which is above the office. The room was huge, with large windows, a seating area with two leather chairs and a small porch on which there are two Adirondack-style chairs. The bathroom was large with a separate toilet closet. The bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this to anyone. It's a gem.

Received a gift certificate for Christmas and booked for August 2023. Took the scenic drive from Santa Barbara (Highway 150) to this beautiful hidden gem in Ojai. At the The Emerald Iguana we were greeted with warm smiles and open arms with a tour of the property and were shown to our standout room (the grasshopper). There are only 13 rooms on the property. The Grasshopper was appointed with rich tones and comfortable furnishings. We had a beautiful claw foot tub, large separate shower, king size bed with pillow suite, fireplace and cable tv. The property has large mature trees, lush foliage and beautiful flowers. A small pool and jacuzzi were perfect after a day exploring the surrounding areas. They offer a hospitality room stocked with amenities such as coffee, teas and snacks. We arranged for an in room couples massage (ask for Kiki) which was very pleasant and relaxing. Already planning to return next year and possibly stay in the Peacock, Feather or Treehouse room. Thank you Kelly for making sure our stay was memorable …

Beautiful property and amazing staff. Free snacks all day, well kept pool, strongest water pressure I’ve had in a hotel in years! 10 minute easy walk into town. Went with friends that stayed in another room and they loved it as well.
