We specifically chose this hotel because of the indoor spa fashioned after the Roman baths. Unfortunately, it was closed, and the excuses for that were pretty lame. The front desk clerk was not really helpful. He had earlier mentioned how the owners of this property owned several others in the area. We requested he make arrangements to use the spa at another one of their hotels, and he said that was not possible, with some more lame excuses for why. Honestly, the room was nice, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was about what you'd expect for a nicer continental-type breakfast. There were some nice reproductions of art in the hotel. I might have rated 3 stars but for the full-of-himself clerk. But seriously, the spa being closed was a major blow. The only thing we were offered in response to our comment about the profound disappointment regarding the spa was a suggestion we check out and he'd see if we could get a refund. No, thank you.

Good enough for a nights day but nothing longer. Pros: breakfast was adequate. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Good shower. Good location on Main Street. Cons: they ran out of some thing at breakfast every day. Might be milk might be baked goods might be pancake syrup couldn’t count on the supply to be adequate to the demand. Room was extremely stuffy and difficult to cool down no air-conditioning in the rooms. Sliding glass door did allow cool air to come in however, couldn’t leave it open since it went directly to the parking lot. We had ants in the bathroom, they threaten to charge for bottled water although there’s no source of water other than the bathroom tap on the premises. And worst of all the hot tub was broken. We will not return.

We had a s standard room with balcony. The room was large with queen bed, couch, small table with two chairs, microwave, refrigerator and flatscreen TV. Free wine at 5pm and free breakfast starting at 7:30am. Free parking. Downside the bathroom is very small. The flowers has grown so high that all you see is flowers 3ft from your face.

Very comfortable bed. Spacious, quiet and comfortable rooms. Charming atmosphere. Good location. Friendly, accommodating staff. They have a large indoor jacuzzi that’s very nice and serve complimentary wine in the late afternoon. We will stay there again.

First the oooo and ahhh, the hot tub room, breakfast area, view of Morro bay, free parking but the running and screaming part came into play when you consider that the hot tub room isn't well maintained and the lid to the skimmer had a loose cover. Of course I had the misfortune of falling into the skimmer leaving me with a costly trip to have an xray taken. Nothing broken but ruined my vacation as lots of painful soft tissue damage. Manager called and asked me if I needed anything. I said something to help me walk would be lovely like crutches, a cane or walker. She said, "I meant like extra pillows". Didn't even give me a penny of a discount when we checked out. By the way, being stuck in that room didn't help it was cramped, and had a tiny little window with no view. We went back to check and the cover was still not secured down when we left. The least you could have done was place an orange caution cone on top of it or "caution wet floor sign", anything to warn people to walk around that cover. It would have been less painful on my body and my wallet to have been bitten by a T Rex.

First of all the hotel is just like the pictures on the web site. Situated on Main Street we fairly close to the street but couldn’t hear traffic noise. We had reserved the room with the two person hydrotherapy tub. The room was clean with none of that bleach and other cleaner smell. The carpet looked clean and in fact the carpet in the room opposite ours had been cleaned and had a fan blowing on it overnight to assist in drying. (We couldn’t hear it from our room). It is an old building which is kept up quite well although it needs some tlc in our bathroom anyway. There is no room a/c but we didn’t need it. They do have a ceiling fan if you need it. Bed linens looked fresh and while my wife liked the mattress it was a little soft for me. The wi fi was fast and some cable tv channels were available. Breakfast was the continental type, cereals, fruits etc. they did have a waffle machine though. They have free wine from 5-6 each evening which my wife enjoyed. The room and door locks gave us a few problems but don’t know if it was us or the locks themselves. Parking is right out front with plenty of spaces. At check in the front desk staff were polite and courteous and informed us of what the hotel had to offer. For art lovers there is plenty of paintings throughout the hotel for viewing, hence the name. Now for the best part our stay was totally enjoying the tub in our room but the Roman Spa in the basement was fabulous but be careful when turning it on if you are in the water the jets are strong. Overall I can say we will be back when next in town.

My husband and I grabbed a quick getaway and stayed at this property. Loved the art work, statues, and decor! This rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the wine hour was delightful! We made new friends and enjoyed ourselves. We even used the large indoor spa and appreciated that this location was not right in the midst of Morro Bay’s tourist area….yet very close to enjoy.
