I'm always on the look out for a good hotel to stay in the L.A. area. My wife and I travel out here every year around the 4th of July for Anime Expo and we'd rather not spend all of our vacation money on the hotel. We've now stayed at The Floral Inn twice, and I felt compelled to leave a review after our 2nd experience.

The Good
It's rare to find a place in the area that doesn't charge you to park your car. We've stayed at hotels closer to downtown and it's always been both a struggle to find a place to keep the car AND keep the price affordable. Here, your car can stay for free and depending on where you park it, you can likely see it from your hotel window. The area around the hotel isn't too busy so the stress of coming and going is minimal. Inside the room you've got a microwave and refrigerator which you may not expect from the look of this place on the outside. The price is affordable in comparison to a lot of other places nearby.

The Bad
Our room smelled like mildew and urine around the bathroom area. It's a little surprising that cleanliness issues like this aren't addressed. Some of the appliances in the room were simply inoperable. Maybe we just had a bad room during our 2nd stay there, but it seemed like a pretty big difference. The breakfast is about as basic as they come. We opted to not even bother this year (and we're pretty cheap so free breakfast is normally something we jump on). The beds aren't the greatest...but they work.

Overall, this place is all about your balance between cost and quality. Again, it's hard to find a place in L.A. for less than $100 a night that'll offer you the amenities and sense of safety as this place. It's worth a stay if you're looking to save money. If the cost isn't a problem, there are plenty of better places for you.

We stayed here one night on our way home from the bay area. The hotel is located kind of partially in East LA and next to a decent housing neighborhood in Monterey Park. When we pulled into the parking lot I saw a number of late model vehicles which is always a good sign. The person working the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We got a room for 70 dollars which is unheard of these days. The room seemed clean and recently updated although it was very small. We were also told that the hotel served breakfast. When I got up in the am I went to get some coffee I found out the breakfast is a few pieces of fruit, some packaged pastry and instant coffee. I just walked out and thought what should one expect for the rate we paid. All in all this is clean convenient place to lay your head for the night. And for the rates they charge it is worth every penny.

Reservations were made for us at the Floral Inn by people we were attending a convention with.
I would not have picked this hotel had I made reservations on my own. Rooms were remodeled nicely but on the small side. We had a room on the top floor (3rd) facing Floral St. Just had a view of the business building across the street. It was a Saturday night and the traffic was heavy enough to keep us up most of the evening. Try to get a room on the opposite side of the building if you really need to get some sleep. You only get one set of towels per person. No extras in the room. If you need more get them when you check in.

Walk ways needed a serious power washing. It made the place look more run down then it actually was.Pool is tiny and didn't look very clean.

Free breakfast was OK. Had all your basics. Area for eating consisted of two tables right next to the check in counter. The young man at the check-in counter was very pleasant and helpful.

The Floral Inn will do if your on a tight budget. Just make sure your room is not on the Floral St. side.

This place is filthy. I checked out early. There were cockroaches everywhere. There were stains on the sheets and the towels were a shade of yellow/grey that I’ve never seen before. Management didn’t care. Every surface in the room needed a wipe down. I’m not picky when I travel and have stayed at many great Motel 6 locations. But take it from me, do not stay here. It’s disgusting and the building should be demolished. In addition, the hot water wasn’t working while I was there.

I check in after a long flight and took a nap. When I awoke, I made the bed only to find BED BUGS. I had my room switched but never heard from management after my inquiring in regards to hr incident. It seems after a guest slept with disqusting bed bugs they should be notified by someone with an apology or something. Me, nothing of the sorts. Just creeped out and never ever again. Also have to mention that when I called the front desk, nobody answered, I went to the lobby and was told they shut the phones off. WHAT??? And if there is an emergency, then what happens???

We chose the hotel because of a good rate and it was not too far from LA center, about 20 min drive. Clean room, complimentary coke and water in the fridge. Nice little breakfast in the morning. I didn't pay attention to the neighborhood but the hotel is shaped as a square and the parking is in the middle, so it felt safe in there.

Good place for a good night rest . There's always a free coke and a bottle of water. In the mini fridge which is complementary to guest from management. They also have smoke free rooms and also ice machine on each floor . That's always a good thing. Over all I've stayed here at least more than 35 times

My fiance is a truck driver, and the company in which he truck's for is based out of Commerce Ca. we currently reside in Bakersfield CA. so we take turns with our weekly visits, one week he comes home,,,and the other I travel to him.. This was my week to travel to him. Our last experience with the Hotel of choice was not a pleasant one... Im glad to say this one was. The Floral Inn was a great choice, the outside is very floral... front desk clerk very friendly,, and humorous. When my fiance and walked into the room we both smiled at each other, in relief "THE ROOM WAS NICE AND CLEAN" we were putting our beverages into the mini fridge, to get cold and felt very welcomed into our room as there were complimentary water/soda already cold for us... Room was clean, beds were comfy, and their complimentary breakfast hit the spot.... My fiance will be making this our hotel of choice when I return to visit him..
