Such a beautiful location nestled amongst the redwood trees. We came up for the weekend from Oakland with our 2 kids and our dog, Smokey. The location is close to everything and there is plenty of outdoor space around the motel allowing for easy physical distancing during the Covid crisis . Our kids swam in the pool, our dog lounged in the sun and took many walks around the area. Due to Covid we picked up take out food and ate on the property at the various outdoor areas without coming close to other guests. After having been mostly at home since March, this was a welcome break at a beautiful location where we felt safe. We picked up food across the street at Bia's cafe ( breakfast) and Northwood Country Club ( great burgers) as well as in Monte Rio and Guernville. We will be back!

We have been coming to this neck of the woods for years and are excited to make Casa Secoya our new base for relaxing and exploring. The new owners and management have transformed the former Northwood Lodge to its full potential. The property features a large and meticulously maintained pool, bathed in sun. Just steps away is a peaceful shady redwood grove. The rooms are comfortable and spotless and the cabins offer even more space to stretch out and are perfect for families. Our dog Oscar loves that he is welcome!
The area has so much to offer. Some of the best cycling in Northern California can be experienced right from Casa Secoya; several river beaches are just minutes away; and Armstrong Woods offers tremendous hiking, from a short jaunt through virgin redwood forests to a strenuous multi-hour loop. Sonoma County's best wineries are 30 minutes away, and Guerneville has many excellent food options just 5 minutes away. Fresh baked goods and espresso can be had just across the street at Bia Cafe.
While the area is best known as a summer destination, I highly recommending in the quieter off season as well.

Our family of four stayed in one of the Quail Cabins during the week of Thanksgiving. The space was just the right size for us. The bedroom had a queen bed, a night stand, an electric heater built into the wall, and enough space for suitcases. In the hallway between the room and the bathroom, there is what looks to be a former closet converted into a small bed which was just enough for our two small children to share. The sofa also converted into a futon bed, but we opted not to use it for that. The TV had plenty of cable channels. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with equipment appropriate for the small kitchenette range. There was a gas fireplace in the corner of the living room that kept the space pretty warm. In fact, it would have been nice to be able to dial down that fireplace in the evening as we all went to bed.
The bathroom was fairly updated with new fixtures and tiling work. Water was hot and plentiful, we never experienced it running out or not being able to maintain temperature. The bathroom is also where we noticed the most "patches" though. There was a spackled spot on the wall that we figured must have been just spackled before we got there as it was still purple and not fully dried. Some of the caulking around the edges of the sink and shower were a bit iffy. These things didn't hurt our stay there, but it just gave the impression that things were 'quickly' converted and maybe not maintained in detail.
The cabins are located towards the back of the property, which means further from the road. This is nice because there is quite a bit of traffic going through at most hours of the day.
There isn't really any lobby to this place for any kind of services besides check-in. It's only staffed in the afternoon, and other service questions will be done over the phone. There is housekeeping onsite making the rounds in the morning.
There was a coffee machine in the kitchenette, but I didn't end up using it because across the street is a charming coffeeshop that also sells many types of breads (banana, coffeecake, muffins, etc).
The only real complaint I might make is that the dining table was bar height, which was difficult for kids to get in and out of. A standard height table and chair set would have been much better in that space.
I was really surprised with the quality of our stay in the cabins because of the very affordable price. We came in November which I suppose is low season for this area, so I wouldn't be surprised if the prices were higher in the warmer months. Casa Secoya is located in a place where there is nice forest hiking on one side, and nice coastal hiking on the other. I'd be happy to come and stay here again.

Our stay at Casa Secoya was lovely, though unanticipated. After a day of driving around the area, including a sunset dinner in Jenner, we elected not to return home (mid-Peninsula). We came across Casa Secoya at about 10 pm, and were welcomed warmly even though we lacked a reservation.
Everything has recently been redone. The rooms were nicely sized and bright. Beds were comfortable. Lanterns were a nice touch.
Setting was really nice...a large yard surrounded by redwoods and filled with fresh air. We didn’t try the pool, but it looked beautiful, with plenty of space to spread out around it while getting some socially distanced sun.
Located close to Guerneville, Armstrong Preserve, and the coast, Casa is situated nicely. Bonus of being about 250 feet from Bia Cafe!
The price was reasonable, especially for the area, making this a great base for exploring the area!

as of 2020, NEW OWNERSHIP. AMAZING experience. I don't even know where to start with how incredible this place was. It's a gorgeous little oasis by the russian river with a palm springs 1950's vibe. Everything was meticulous from the landscaped yard, super clean rooms, comfortable beds, crisp white sheets, cute design details like colored bird hooks, new retro mini fridge and microwave. Movie night on the lawn, golf course next door. I know this place will be REALLY hard to get into as word gets out. The owners have taken so much care and thought into everything and you can just feel it...if I could give 6 stars I would! Cant wait to come back. And oh of course the owners gave me some of their fresh lavender from their garden when i checked out. :)

We’ve been on site a number of times and in the area for years. The property was well loved, but needed an update and that surely has happened. Last weekend a movie was shown under the stars, with ample space to enjoy separately and safely outdoors. The updated grounds, fixtures and rooms give the space a welcoming and modern vibe, without compromising on the connection to the Russian River and the towering redwoods.

Pictures don’t do justice to this unassuming gem!
Small rooms that were immaculately clean and passed the scrutiny of my personal hygiene inspector (something I’ve never passed).
We were so surprised at how well thought out each piece in the room is. Someone or a few people put together a room that has a almost campy vibe ( I really don’t know the exact term but a little actual camp style meets early 60’s meets fresh & new).
The rooms are decorated with things like a mini-fridge with a antique style handle.
They could have done it for less but seemed to keep true to their vision throughout.
Chris the general manager made us feel welcome the second we walked into the office and continued to through our stay.
OH; I forgot to mention the ripping fast wifi speed which I never clocked in at less than 175Mbps. It seems like most places give you the bare minimum required not to throw your phone through the window.
Well Done.

We rented a 4 bed cottage. The kitchen came with modern equipments, clean dishes and utensils. Barbecue tools are available for no cost. We did barbecue most nights and had the dinner in deck which offers a beautiful redwood view. We enjoyed the swimming pool every day also. The pool has towels for the guests. The area was so quiet and peaceful as well. We are already talking about when to go back!

Less than 2 hours away from SF you will venture into a space that feels like another state .
The ease of getting to Casa Secoya and the tranquility of the well designed and intentional space is fantastic. From tiny details such as relaxing music playing in the evening and a beautifully lit pool to clean, organized, and well stocked rooms- Casa Secoya is pretty amazing!

Our favorite types of stays are ones that are exactly what is advertised. The room looks just like the pictures, the location is easy to locate, and the rate is very reasonable.
Only inconvenience: the check in window is 4-7pm. Be sure to coordinate ahead with the property ahead of time, because there is absolutely no cellular (ATT) reception when you arrive.
