We had a wonderful dinner with friends! They had quite a choice of southern food as well as other choices. I ordered the shrimp and grits and was not disappointed. We all ordered different dinners and everyone was very happy.

The rooms are worn and less-than-basic, so I would call it 2-star overall for being unusual in its history and location in a tiny former mining town. Don't count on having a hotel staff member in the building overnight, so be forewarned: If you need something--such as a hair dryer (not in the rooms)--be sure to ask the night before.... More

The hotel is super cute and the decor is true to the gold rush era. To gain access to the veranda you must climb through your bedroom window. Once out there, grab a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset. For dinner, we hopped downstairs to the restaurant and had blood orange martinis (a must!) and flat bread pizza with... More

This old town has not changed, since I was a child. Except the terrible fire last year. Hotel is great. History, pool, jailhouse. Etc. Go on Thursday , Martini night, too meet the friendly townspeople., And the best ribs.

Disorganized staff, dated furnishings, peeling paint, sorry bathroom fixtures. These are the beginnings of a one star review. HOWEVER, staying at the Hotel Leger is a four star experience. Yes, the staff is a bit disorganized. When trying to check in to what appeared to be an abandoned building we finally found our key by the cash register in the... More

IMO, many businesses that run a prime rib special the meal ends up being so/so "tough, bland or flavorless". Very relaxed, friendly place to eat. Chef Steve's prime rib is delicious from the rub, tenderness just all out flavor. All of his soups are homemade. I loved his garlic soup. The deep fried mushrooms are battered fresh not frozen. Portions... More

We stayed in the Boitano Suite with the squeaky wood floors. It's a huge room with chairs, old trunks and dressers. We had been told about being able to climb out the bedroom window and sit on the balcony. It's has a great view of main street and the sunset. The grill is closed on Tuesday nights so we did... Spent two nights for an anniversary. The rustic original old west feel was amazing. This is not a Hilton/Marriott, but the value we received was the best I've ever had. We received a $30 credit toward dining and wasn't sure what to expect. The cuisine was diverse, well-priced and simply amazing. The best value and most entertaining experience we've had... More

We arrived mid-afternoon, check in was very easy and our room (the Boitano Suite) was ready for us. The room was lovely and we had a good laugh about the "squeaky" wooden floor. To sit out on the veranda we had to climb through our bathroom window Which we did to read and enjoy a glass of wine. On Sunday... More

The people were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, quaint and inviting. With no TV or phone you are forced to relax and enjoy the simple things. DINNER AT THE WHITEWATER IS A MUST, reasonably priced and the quality and taste are easily comparable to any 5 star restaurant. Chef Louie is great and talented. Even if you are... More
