If you are a light house enthusiast this is an awesome stay! We stayed in the west cottage and it was great. It's two rooms bed/living and large bathroom. Bed sleeps good. Bench on patio with a nice view of ocean. Don't leave door open as there are animals that will sneak in looking for food. Lots of wild life... More

Had a great visit, wonderful views and lots of history! The coast of California is something a person can visit any time of the year. The food and refreshments of Fort Bragg will bring us back every year.

We checked in around 4:30, got settled and the hostess announced she was leaving and have a good night. We were the only ones in the place and it was wonderful and very romantic. The breakfast was more than a high school football team could eat and very good.

We spent a very peaceful night in West Cottage, one of three buildings at the Light Station that are available for rent. After the day crowds leave, you pretty much have the place all to yourself. The cottage is compact, but certainly has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed was perfect -- best nights sleep I’ve had... More

This was our third stay in the West Cottage, and we will return again and again. In past years, we have had the privilege of staying in the Head and Assistant Lightkeepers' houses, but can no longer afford them. The cottages, though, remodeled from the garage/workshop behind each of the larger houses, are perfect for a couple. ADA accessible, affordable,... More

We booked both the Head and Assistant Lightkeepers' houses for a long weekend and had the most wonderful time. The houses were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The dining and living rooms were just large enough for us all to squeeze in for communal time, and the houses had enough nooks and crannies to give us solitude in which... More

Stayed one night at the West Cottage and had a very comfortable stay. The cottage was very comfortable and clean. The room has a small refrigerator and microwave in addition to a small coffee pot. We picked up some food to go from the market and bakery in Mendocino so that we could enjoy dinner and breakfast at the cottage.... More

We stayed at the East cottage and enjoyed everything there. Small cottage but larger than it looks in the pictures. Who really cares because there is only the two of us staying and you have 300 acres to yourself. Queen size memory foam bed and pillows. Nice comfortable sitting chairs and ottoman. Heavy Egyptian cotton towels were not expected but... More

Our second time here...and, we hope to return again! So refreshing to not have Internet, cell phone or TV. A small set is there for watching movies! We loved, loved, loved the quiet...and the lighthouse, and the marine exhibits! Whales with babies were heading north...great fun to see! Comfortable bed. Perfect place to relax! Mendocino restaurants and market are nearby... More

Our friends and family rented the lighthouse keeper's house for four nights. Each of the four couples had their own bedroom AND bathroom en suite upstairs and there was another powder room downstairs off the kitchen. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of dinnerware, flatware, pots, pans and utensils. There were wine glasses galore.....many more than drinking glasses! Large... More

“The lighthouse light sweeps the landscape every 10 seconds. The rooms overlooking the lighthouse have blackout shades....but you may want to choose either bedroom just to the right at the top of the stairs to avoid direct beams. All rooms are quiet and have plenty of windows, but the west and south east facing rooms have a view of the ocean.”

“West Cottage does allow pets, East Cottage does not. We did not have a pet nor did we notice any pet smells, etc. The larger 4 bedroom house is also for rent for larger parties and later this summer the 3 bedroom, former Asst. Lighthouse Keeper's house will be available also.”
