The Blue Heron Inn is located over the Moosse Cafe, an excellent restaurant. The owners should either change many things or get out of the room rental business and stick to what they do very well, running a fine restaurant. Cons: No closet - No chair - No phone - No clock No radio - No TV - No wastebasket...

This place is a bit unusual.... It's really just a restaurant with three rooms upstairs (two of which share a bathroom!). But it's ideally located, comfortably furnished, and the people are nice as can be. If you stay there, try the restaurant for dinner. They will spoil you silly, and the food is divine. We'd go back in a heartbeat!

We have stayed at the Blue Heron inn twice and have had great experiences both times. We stayed in the room with a private bathroom the first night and we and another couple we brought there stayed in the rooms with the shared bathroom. The rooms are clean and comfortable with views of the water. The location is great, you...

We recently stayed at the Blue Heron Inn above the Moose Cafe in the village of Mendocino; we had stayed there a couple of years ago, and did not realize the ownership has changed. The three rooms above the restaurant are really now an afterthought. We were told the second day when asking about refreshing the room that we were...

We stayed at the Blue Heron Inn in december 2005 and it was no problem to get the "Sunset Room" for just one night, even from Friday to Saturday. The Sunset Room is really nice, and you have two windows from which you can see the cliff and the ocean. 115US$ in off-season for a room with a shared bathroom...

Maybe it was the little red rocking chair in the yellow room that did it, but I felt I could have been in Europe when I walked into the dormer bedroom at the Blue Heron. There were luxurious French linens on the bed and simple furnishings, perfect for the small quarters right in the middle of Mendocino. Under new management...

After being told by E-mail that a room was available, I was given the run-around for 48 hours until being told - three days before travel - that rather than have me stay there one night, they're going to refuse the reservation and leave it vacant in hopes that someone will reserve the room for two consecutive nights. When asked...

“The two rooms without private bath have better views as they have windows that face the ocean. The one with private bath only has a partial view of the ocean. Bring shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer and any other toiletries you might need. Only liquid soap is provided. There is no special guest parking but street parking is really easy to find.”

“The Blue Heron has it's own bathroom, but the other rooms are a bit bigger. As I mention in the review "I've never stayed somewhere where I had to share a bathroom and figured, "why start now". But next time even if the only room available was one of the ones that shares a bathroom, I won't hesitate to take it. I saw the bathroom that is shared and it's a VERY nice, very BIG, very clean bathroom. And it's literally 10 feet from your door. Even for a super anal retentive, somewhat reclusive person like me, it wouldn't be a problem. again, not sure about other places, but here.....no problem. Our bathroom was also very nice and very clean. Clean and soft towels too.”
