A really nice and comfortable hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff, That said, there were a few glitches. I realize it's an old building, but I had three electrical outlets in my room: one in the bathroom, one in the dressing area, and one about twenty feet from the bed. That would be fine if I didn't have electronics to plug in and recharge. I ultimately went to the nearby Target and bought an extension cord and a surge protector. After that, things were fine. Second, the shower can be wonky and the temperature will change on a moment's notice, and is generally one of those showers where moving one of the taps 1/32nd of an inch will change the temperature from scalding to arctic. Again, once I was used to it and expected it, it was okay. Third, there's no elevator. This isn't a real problem since there are only two floors, but it was really no fun to lug my suitcase up the stairs. Those things aside, it's really a great little hotel. It was comfortable and quiet, the TV lineup is fantastic, and the people couldn't have been friendlier. My caveats are things that are less "these need to change" than "travelers should be aware and ready."…
If you read my other reviews, you’ll see that I typically stay in pricier hotels - This hotel breaks the mold. Don’t overlook it because it’s inexpensive in a pricey location. It has charm and exemplary service from house keeping through management. Patricia, who tends the free Continental breakfast, personally acquired gluten-free bread for me, at her own insistence. She knows everyone’s preference after their first morning and remembers on everyday after. The Deco styling and open, sky-lit hallways call to mind South Beach. The rooms are large and appropriately appointed. Not fancy, and art work could be updated, but having all the space and great care makes up for it. Walkable to Hollywood Blvd and local Hollywood points of interest. I plan to return!
I had a wonderful stay at this boutique hotel. The location can't be beat. Walking distance to everything on Hollywood Blvd., from Target to the Dolby Theater. This hotel feels so safe, with someone at the front desk at all times. The rooms are big, the beds have plenty of pillows. The staff is so nice, so friendly. It's not perfect -- the bathrooms could use an upgrade. (That's not a complaint; I'm just managing your expectations.) But it has personality and heart and I can't wait to go back!
We loved this hotel from the second we walked through the front door. The building it’s self looks a little dated from the outside but it has so much character once you get inside with it’s quirky decor. The staff are as friendly and as helpful as you can get and a big mention to Patricia who works the breakfast area and is amazingly friendly and works so hard to make sure everybody has all they need for breakfast but also gives hints and tips on how to enjoy your stay from riding the subway to renting bikes at Santa Monica beach. The hotel rooms were really big and fantastically clean and very comfortable. We went for the suit which had a dining table and kitchen area too which was very convenient for us. Location was we found the hotel to be perfect just a couple of minutes walk away through the highland centre to the walk of fame on Hollywood boulevard and we even saw Stephen Spielberg on the red carpet at the Chinese theatre. Only two minor points. The car park is a little tight so if you are able too I recommend reversing into your space and the last point is the room could perhaps do with a bit better noise insulation as it can be a little noisy although this didn’t bother us at all. Overall if/when we go back to LA we will stop here again with out a doubt…
This was my 3rd stay - 1st two with family and 3rd solo. Will definitely stay here again whenever I’m in LA PROS: Convenient location to Hollywood walk of fame, Walgreens, Target, metro, food and coffee spots 24/7 reception & friendly hotel door locks after dark to keep guests safe Large rooms Comfortable bed and sufficient pillows Safe for solo stay Vending machine, laundry Room rather quiet CONS: The cleaner had to clean the floor again because it wasn’t as clean as it should be. Besides that, it’s my go to hotel in the area.
Value for the money! The location is great if you want to stay close to Hollywood Boulevard (~5 min walk). If you don’t mind walking West Hollywood and even Beverly Hills is within a walking distance (~5km). We got a room with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen which was very convenient. Car parking was relatively cheap ($15/night). Someone scratched our car during the night but staff was very helpful to sort things out (the parking lot was quite small and crowded). Breakfast was carb-oriented with bagels, cereal, bread and waffles so no protein options, fruits or vegetables but it was free. The only problem in the room was bad sound insulation, not from the street but from the lobby. Also, the heater was very loud so we had to turn it off at night making the room very cold. Overall, we were very happy with the stay and would probably stay here again!…
Its really a motel style hotel. Very art nouveau in appearance which is as really nice & it had been refurbished recently so lovely and clean. Breakfast was bagels & waffles, enough to get you going for the day & you could make yourself a hot drink any time of day. Environmentally friendly is not a thought as they are still using polystyrene cups & everything is single use plastic. Honestly charge a couple of dollars more per room and get recycling plates & cups please. The room was massive, 2 giant beds, dining table, dressing room… it was bigger than my flat in London ;) Bed was comfy, but tiny square pillows are weird. Bathroom is dated but functional and was clean, there were products provided too. Parking is $15pn which I thought was reasonable and the location is great for the sights of LA, there’s also a metro station that makes it easy to get around. The only down side to this hotel is the lack of sound insulation. You can hear everything in the room next door or in the corridor. This is is common problem in the US, but if you are a light sleeper your going to need heat plugs. We live in London so are used to noise so it didn’t bother us 2 much. I would stay here again…
Make sure to say hello to Patricia. She is the sweet and friendly lady who works in the breakfast area in the mornings :) ----- I did a lot of research in the Hollywood area and this hotel is one of the best places you can book to get the most bang for your buck. We booked the double king / 2 room suite. Rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was quiet and in a relatively quiet location. Breakfast was good too. Would definitely stay again. Solid 4.5 / 5 stars
This hotel is a superior value. One would expect much less from a hotel located in gritty downtown Hollywood and at such an affordable rate, but this hotel is clean, quiet, and modern. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay here again for my next LA weekend!
Beautiful old hotel in the center of everything on a very quiet street. Rooms are large with a dining area, dressing area, and nice size closet. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. A fridge and microwave is in the room. Great for a family!
