Okay. It’s not the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at but it’s something. I think it safe to say that it’s up to par with like the nick hotel back in Orlando by the local Disney world , in terms of it being super outdated . I read in a review on wiki that it’s a small Buisiness but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be kept up. Yes the place is a extravagantly old(for my age) but with proper care of not only the rooms but the whole building I think you can attract more guests than just people who want a cinematic view or people just want to be here for the magic castle in general. I like the color scheme in the rooms . It’s very welcoming, but walls are very dirty and have multiple scratches and wholes . Seems to be a water problem in the particular room we were in cause the curtains were stained and it almost looked like blood which was quite unsettling to say the least . Kitchen has a lack of utensils. Stains on the couch and mold in the shower. The beds are okay but I feel as if it was very hard to sleep cause of mattresses that have a beady texture to it . Pillows were also uncomfortable. If problems like these were fixed and taken care of quickly it would be perfect . As with the exterior I know that it’s gonna get dirty fairly easy but there was trash on the ground by the trash cans and the overall building was not kept up and cleaned . If you hire someone to come out and clean the building every other month then it might be a little cleaner . I also think that it deserves a major repaint , bright yellow with the theme of the hotel and club that it’s made for I think that a darker tone would work perfectly like an ashy grey to black . It would also be a lot easier to maintain cleanliness since it is also a darker color . The only up to date feature in the hotel is the blinds . I think this whole place needs an over all refurbishment and with that it would actually be gorgeous and pleasing to the eye . Staff from what I know it great so far kind people. And one last thing , the tv are poorly put up I believe, wires are dangling down against the wall and it’s not very pretty ?? But other than that everything else is fine and just needs a little re- theme.…
We stayed four nights with our family of 5 and we had an excellent time! There is a great vintage vibe the minute you step into the courtyard. The hotel met all our needs and beyond. The 1 bedroom suite was more than enough room. You do need to remember this is not the Ritz...as the room was 'well loved' but was just fine for our family. the beds were very comfortable and we slept well every night. We had a pool view balcony room which was great! The complimentary amenities that were included are incredible and our family took full advantage of them. The kids had a ball with all the snacks and poolside soft-serve. The 'Popsicle Hotline' is such a neat little perk that the kids thought was amazing. Our room package also included $20/day in drinks 9book direct with the hotel...this rate was same as a regular rate when we booked) for mom and dad too which were great to enjoy poolside. The pool was a great temperature and even on days that aren't hot...the courtyard blocks the wind and on a sunny day it gets pretty warm which was perfect. The kids had so much fun at the hotel that all we heard when we weren't there was, "when can we go back to the hotel?". The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. We were able to check in a few hours early and enjoy the amenities. They always had a smile on their face and were more than accommodating when the kids asked for snacks or popsicles. The Assistant Manager never seemed to stop working and was always buzzing around with a smile on his face and a friendly hello. Alphonse the in-house magician was so friendly and entertaining with the kids. The kids really enjoyed his tricks. The location is in a perfect central area. We planned to go to a Dodger game, Santa Monica, WB Studio Tour, so the location was a perfect central location and just 2 minute walk to Hollywood Blvd and the Chinese Theatre. With that being said..one thing to think about when booking with a family...Hollywood Blvd is a dump (which was fine with me) and you only need to spend about an hour down there. Not really a place to walk around much, so a car is necessary ($17/day underground secured parking...which is very reasonable). We knew this going in that the area wasn't the best....but it was still 100% worth staying at the Magic Castle Hotel. If you are travelling to L.A. and want a central 'home base' for the price and the incredible value you cannot beat the Magic Castle Hotel! I would 100% stay there again.…
Highly recommend this hotel. Stayed here for 6 days during the TCM Film Festival. Very good location—1 block from Hollywood Blvd and 1/2 block from Ovation Mall. Close to Metro. Staff is wonderful—very pleasant and accommodating. Comfortable beds and pillows. Lots of free snacks as well as ice cream and soda. Nice pool.
We stayed at Magic Castle Hotel from April 17 - 20, 2022. Pros: 1. Amenities - unlimited snacks, ice cream, heated pool, and the Popsicle Hotline were amazing. 2. Location (one block from Mann's Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood & Highland mall). 3. CUSTOMER SERVICE - front desk staff was very helpful. These people are getting interrupted several times an hour for snacks, to deliver popsicles, etc. and they did it all with a smile. 4. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Good selection of pastries, fruit, yogurt, toast, and cereal. Drinking my morning coffee out by the pool, enjoying the ambiance was so nice. Cons: 1. As others have mentioned, the building is getting a bit tired and could use a bit of a reno. Overall we had a great stay!
We stayed at the Magic Castle for 10 nights as a family. We stayed in one of the two bedroom suites with two children aged 13 and 11. The room could sleep 6 comfortably with lots of storage space. The highlights for us as a family were the attentiveness of the staff. Rod and his team couldn’t have been more helpful. Also, the beds were large and comfortable. We’re very well rested. The breakfast was fab and our children enjoyed the free snacks and drinks. The choice of DVDs at reception was brilliant. We had a fully functioning kitchen which we used very basically. However, there’s a few shops nearby to stock up. Wi-Fi, always important when travelling with teenagers was brilliant. All over coverage and free. Great speeds to make business video and personal WhatsApp and Teams calls. Although the room was very tired, it was clean and the location of the hotel was a brilliant base for us. We travelled all over LA with a metro pass and Uber. The hotel is 5 mins walk from Hollywood and Highland metro stop. We managed to get tickets for a magic show next door which was brilliant. Whilst we were here we heard the hotel has been sold to a new owner and it would be nice if they could make more of the magic history theme of the hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making our experience memorable.…
