The SLS Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Beverly Hills, garners mixed reviews, with its atmosphere dividing guests between those charmed by its unique design and those finding it a tad overwhelming. While the hotel's location is a crowd-pleaser, offering easy access to local hotspots, opinions on room conditions and service fluctuate, with some appreciating the modern space and others left wanting.
Cleanliness is a highlight, yet the value is contentious, as some guests feel the cost doesn't align with their experience. Nonetheless, the hotel's amenities, including a rooftop pool and hidden cocktail bar, receive nods of approval.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel is located closer to West Hollywood than Beverly Hills proper (if you don’t know LA). The room was clean and comfortable albeit the bathroom was a bit user unfriendly with a large sink that splashed everywhere and little deck space. The windows are also quite thin so you hear all the traffic noise all day and night. I feel like it’s a problem with most Luxury Collection properties that the service is not good nor consistent. Breakfast in the restaurant took over an hour every day, and the waiter could never be found to get the check. I called down six times over a four hour period just to get some water sent to my room, to no avail. I couldn’t help but laugh at the comedy of the situation, one of the front desk workers could have easily run a few bottles up the first time I asked rather than keep passing the buck to room service (who never answered the phone ever). Valet is also $60/night and your only option if you drive, steep even for LA. For my specific purposes the location was what made me book this hotel but you may be disappointed if you come here expecting a Beverly Hills experience.

Hi John, thank you for staying with us and leaving such a comprehensive review! We are located right at the nexus of Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and L.A. proper and like to think you have the best of all three cities/neighborhoods within a short distance. We note your feedback on service times and this feedback has been shared with our internal team, which is rapidly growing. I'm glad you found your room clean and comfortable and hope you had the chance to check out our rooftop pool! We sincerely hope to welcome you back again.

My two stays at the SLS Beverly Hills over the last two consecutive weekends — including July 4 — were as impressive as ever. I was upgraded to nice suites and had great welcome amenities for both, even when the hotel was nearly sold out for July 4.
#AmbassadorStatusMatters #beverlyhills #losangeles #luxurycollection #suiteupgrades #sna #airconsuccess
I was upgraded the first July 4 weekend night from a paid regular entry level room to a deluxe suite without use of any SNA. (I was with a few buddies for a night out in LA.) The welcome amenity of sparkling wine, chocolates, and strawberries was wonderful.
I was first upgraded this past weekend via SNAs 5 days in advance of arrival from a paid entry level room to a deluxe one bedroom suite. I was further upgraded beyond the SNA upgrade a day before arrival to a Signature king suite, I’m sure because of my Ambassador status. (I was up in LA with my husband to meet a few friends and colleagues this time.) The welcome amenity of cheese and crackers, fresh fruit, and wine was also wonderful (and more to my husband’s liking lol).
Unlike our initial air con fiasco at the impressive West Hollywood EDITION in April, the air con worked great to 65-67 F in both suites — though neither were pre-cooled before my arrival as requested in my pre-arrival checklist. Both suites had extra bottles of water and a fan as requested, as well.
We enjoyed some fun time on the rooftop pool deck and bar for both stays. My breakfast benefit included a $35 credit per room, and breakfast was as wonderful as I remember. (My last stay here was in December 2019.) I do miss Somni and The Bazaar by Jose Andres (which closed during the pandemic), but this hotel still is firing on all cylinders, regardless. I was recognized and called by name so often that I realized I’d forgotten how often I used to stay here and how many of the staff have stayed during the pandemic. (The hotel never closed during the pandemic, so it didn’t suffer the same staff losses as so many others.)
The SLS continues to be a fantastic hotel with excellent service, F&B, and Ambassador recognition. The EDITION is a bit nicer and more polished overall (and concomitantly more expensive), but the air con is much more reliable at the SLS.

Stayed here for one night with a friend. I'm Marriott Titanium and I chose breakfast as the welcome amenity. The breakfast was top-notch; my friend and I each received a $35 credit for breakfast which covers essentially anything on the menu. The food was delicious and of high quality. Definitely would recommend the breakfast in lieu of the 1,000 welcome points.
The room was modern and well appointed. The bathroom was spacious with a great shower. Beds were super comfortable. The room was very quiet and provided for great sleep, notwithstanding its location right in the heart of west LA/ Beverly Hills.
If you don't want to stay downtown, definitely a great option close to most of the action in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.

I Have never had a worse experience at a hotel. It baffles me that they have the audacity to consider this 5 stars. The hotel is outdated, the pictures definitely do not match the hotel. the customer service is beyond poor. Every room comes dark and depressing. The rooms are not clean, when I first arrived I checked into my room they said was clean and ready. This room was dusty and far from clean, it had ketchup or blood stains all over the wall and couch. I took pictures, you would think with Covid-19 and all they would up their cleaning service. There is no mini fridge they are stocking it due to Covid they say but don't even clean the rooms properly. They don't even clean the pool area, they leave all the towels other people used around, you have to literally clean it yourself if you want to sit down. oh and lets not forget the awful customer service the manager Adrian had, he was upset with me instead of his housekeeping. we went to three different room before finding a clean enough room for me to stay. He then offered me a refund saying there is nothing else he can do about it. I have stayed at the SLS south beach and few others as well you can see my previous reviews on how amazing everything was at your other locations who doesn't consider themselves 5 stars when they definitely should. Never again, overcharged for a motel experience. I have reached out to corporate and they aren't any better, all they did was make excuses, had no interest in my concerns.

Response from Anna Gaidaenko, General Manager at SLS Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Beverly Hills
Responded 1 Sept 2020
Dear Ibrahimdeka, please accept our apologies for what must have been a frustrating experience as we worked to find a room that was to your liking. We are indeed limited in certain services, including mini-bar, but most mini-bar items are still available upon request. We appreciate your understanding that not all processes are currently in place as they usually would be while others are augmented to meet current city and county-imposed mandates and guidelines as well as operating capabilities.

SLS is a solid hotel, I enjoy all their locations. We were greeted by Blake, who always gave us a warm welcome and stocked our car with water for whenever we took our car out of valet. The hostess at breakfast was always so kind to us as well- speaking of which the breakfast is great, especially the salmon yum! Were in and out of LA a lot, this is a hotel we come to often. Drinks at the bazaar were fantastic, excited to dine there during our next visit. Thank you!

I stay in hotels all over the world and while the SLS has a very fun Hollywood location, I found that it was not a good value. I get crazy when a $500 per night hotel charges you for coffee in the morning. The room was nothing special, except for the huge walking shower. I will say the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The good was overpriced and only average. If you're going to splurge, I'd skip this one. Was there attending a business meeting and the wifi was useless in the meeting room and not much better in the room.

Beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms. Everything in this hotel is ‘designer’ oriented so attracts a young, hip and beautiful crowd. I stayed at SLS during the Oscars weekend and it was very busy with Oscars insiders. Room was very clean, luxurious and it had everything you can thing of. Location is not great for walking at all. It is near Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, but not at any of them so not much around to see or do unless you want to shop at a mall nearby. Pool area is stunning, with trendy people sunbathing. Everything was perfect, including the service. Just remember that anything you touch will cost triple, from a small bottle of water priced 12 dollars to the over 50 a day valet parking. If you can afford all that, it’s highly recommended it!

Dear Giljuancarlos810, Thank you for your fantastic review! We are delighted to know how much you enjoyed your recent stay over Oscar weekend! We agree that Los Angeles is not a "walking city" so be sure to take advantage of our complimentary house car that will drop you off anywhere from the fabulous Rodeo Drive or to the amazing restaurants and nightlife in West Hollywood. Thank you for recommending us and we look forward to seeing you again soon for another extraordinary stay! Until then, Savor Life Slowly!

During the pandemic this hotel does not provide buffet breakfast. Marriott platinum and above members received $35 credits per person up to 70 per room towards breakfast. Breakfast was high-standard. Recommend breakfast in lieu of 1000 welcome points. I received a balcony junior suite which was luxurious and comfortable. Rooftop pool and bar was fantastic.

+1
Checked in and we were taken to a room with the smell in overwhelming marijuana smoke. The room was filthy - there was cigarette/marijuana ash on the sofa arm, chewed gum spit on the floor and pieces of marijuana on the dirty bench at the end of the bed. There was an eye dropper and trash in the hallway that remained in the same place for two days. The pool was out of control with competing music playing and people smoking marijuana with the staff completely ignoring the issue.
There is apparently no security and there are late night parties with door slamming and loud people in the hallways.
According “Roberto” from in-room dining, ice delivery is contingent on and prioritized by guests that “pay and tip.” Very rude staff and I was advised by a manager that the hotel records guest calls, which is helpful to track conversations with rude staff.
Housekeeping seems to be nonexistent as well as hotel management. When I asked for the General Managers name I was given the Executive Assistant. When I talked with a manager I was told that the lower rates at the hotel reflect the type of guests that were currently staying. This is a property in total distress.

I booked two rooms for a staycation at SLS Beverly Hills for my birthday. I was very disappointed by their adherence to level of safety guidelines. The pool was over saturated with people, people were smoking even tho it wasn’t allowed at the pool area, and I had to call security/front desk over 3 times as no one was following social distancing rules and violating the smoking restriction. I’m addition, people were partying and congregating throughout the hotel floors in areas that had been closed down due to covid. None of these people were wearing masks in these areas which was a hotel requirement. My guests and I felt so unsafe and uncomfortable that I left not only the pool area, but also the hotel and did not even stay the night as paid for. None of my calls or concerns were appropriately handled to remedy the situation. I am incredibly disappointed that a major hotel like this would not take public safety health guidelines more seriously to ensure the safety of their customers. I do not recommend staying at this hotel during this pandemic.
