From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty!! Gorgeous decor, friendly helpful staff and food to die for! Michael was especially lovely and was the first staff member we met, such a warm welcome after a long journey. 10/10 to The Garland.
We love The Garland and have stayed here for many years! With new Covid guidelines, this hotel did a fantastic job making us feel safe and went over and above all protocols. SUPER friendly staff! Cleanliness and nostalgic decor are THE BEST!
839697380 The location is centrally located to a wide variety of fun things to do. The property’s largest border is an LA fwy so be aware that there is road noise. Generally the Garland could offer a lot but misses on many levels. Charging guests for parking is unacceptable for a surface parking in a region where there is NO public transportation. The general price/rate for the accommodations is quite high. Bottom line - Price does not fit the service delivered. instead of holding a $100 per night up front for possible charges they CHARGE your account and issue a credit if not used - check your statement at check out. Checking in the front desk makes guests feel like we are getting fleeced, and we are. The front lobby staff ignored us and walked past us before we had to ask to be checked in. They offered no help with luggage. The Garland is pretending to be a resort and it still looks like a hipster version of its former life as a hotel chain. Sorry guys but you are missing the mark and trying too hard to be cool. I booked 2 nights for my wife and I and 5 nights for relatives. We all shared the same experience. The Garland has the advantage because there are few competitors in the area.…
We arrived at the Garland and the lobby was lovely and staff were friendly. They needed the $400 hold for credit card but their systems don't accept tap off your phone so as we didn't have the card with is we had to give cash over. BIG NOTE Parking is $32 per day! As we were there for 6 nights it was impossible for us to afford another $192 on our trip. We do feel it should be free parking when your paying for an expensive hotel why do they add on parking. We feel this is unessesary and really put a downer on our trip. We parked over the road on Aqua Vista Steet FOR FREE (just note on one day a week they do street clean so you have to move the car for a couple of hours). It's literally the road opposite the hotel. Our car was fine the whole time we were there. We had been to San Francisco/monterey/yosemite/santa maria before this hotel and not had to pay parking in any of them hotels. Our room was nice, we were woken up alot by the freeway noise. The hotel is right next to the freeway and the road opposite hotel is also busy/noisy. The aircon box was sooo loud so we turned it off as you couldn't sleep with thst noise it was like you had an aircraft going over your room constantly. There was a hairdryer and steamer in the room. We didn't use the coffee machine or bottles of water as we were to scared to get charged for using them. There were fresh towels daily if you require them. The bed was also made daily. The pool area was nice and it's great to have towels to grab instead of having to use your own. The laundry room was great for us to it was $3 a wash and $3 to dry. Just another note this is at all places not just the garland. The tipping situation gets a bit much especially if your from the UK like us. When you get passed the receipts at places and it says tip and your supposed to write it in we feel its to much its absolutely everywhere. Coffee shops even when your at a hotdog stop and the card machine says add a tip. It's just to much it makes us feel uncomfortable so we avoided going down for drinks and going out as much as we couldn't afford to leave tips everytime we go for a drink or a bite to eat or to a gift shop! The UK isn't like this so I guess we're not used to it. The Garland is a nice hotel. Its just a shame about paying for parking and being next to the freeway. I think the parking situation should be reviewed. …
My best friend and I had a night away at the Garland! Michael greeted us at the check in counter and became a friend during our stay! Maddie helped us find unique gifts in the store and added to our amazing stay! We loved the poolside bar, The Front Yard, and the comfortable spaces to sit and lounge. Will stay here again!
