Really enjoyed our star at the Hotel MdR. Would definitely stay here again. All the employees were very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk staff. They helped make our stay very nice and comfortable. Very nice pool area, gets lots of nice sun. Property was nice and everything was clean. Room was spacious and clean with nice amenities.

Hotel's Favourite
Location was prime; room was clean & spacious; staff was very pleasant and responsive to requests. Finding the hotel was a bit tricky since it was booked as the Doubletree by Hilton; there were no obvious signs to that. The hotel sits back from the street, and the large signage showed Hotel MDR and in much smaller lettering it said Doubletree by Hilton.

Room was great. Front desk staff was helpful. Let me start the rest off with I know it was my fault with leaving my sweater. I knew exactly where I left it and gave an exact description of it an hour or two after I left. I went through the proper channels (website) to report the item. I was called weeks later and was told they could not find it. The person was going to call me back after she spoke with the person that cleaned the room. No one saw it. So either they didn't check everything before they rented out the room or the staff that cleaned the room took it home. Was going to stay there again but now I won't be.

Hotel MDR Ms. Deejaaye was very fast, efficient, professional and nice as she checked me in and gave me 2 hot fresh chocolate chip cookies and 2 bottles of water. Room was perfect. Lounge area in lobby was great for sitting and doing business phone calls/computer while I was waiting for my room.

My room wasn't cleaned and when I asked the front desk they said you must request your room to be cleaned. Isn't that the opposite of how every other hotel works? I wasn't told any of this when I checked in. Also, aren't you supposed to get cookies and water at a Double Tree? That didn't happen. Room was average. Mattress was sloppy and worn. Bathroom wasn't the cleanest. Slightly dated. This place needs some new leadership.

We had 2 separate bookings. Called ahead and asked that they combine them. They said they would. They didn’t. On arrival room not ready. Asked to leave bags. No claim checks - used post it notes instead. Bags stored in open accessible area by the doors not somewhere safe. Room ok with 2 good beds and nice bathroom. Had to request housekeeping but was told it was “fully booked”. Manager argued with me. (Totally unprofessional). No recognition of Hilton Honors loyalty and status. Not even a bottle of water in the room. Parking ok but quite expensive and it gets very full. Didn’t want to risk going out late and finding no parking when we returned. Strip mall across street with juice place and Starbucks and a few eateries. Not quite the location we had hoped for as marina and beaches are a drive or quite a walk away. (Definitely our fault but be aware). Nice receptionist gave us info on vegan places to eat which were great. Check out was a complete fiasco. Multiple bills which even the hotel staff could not explain. Took 1 of three bills back and spoke to manager and even he didn’t have a clue. He just said that one wasn’t for me and tore it up. Bizarre. We had a $25 credit which were told about at check in. On check out we were told we’d used it on the wrong booking. WTAF? Went to grab and go for coffee but the guy had no coffee. Yes - you read that correctly they had no coffee! If you don’t have any - go buy some. Jeez. This place needs a secret shopper and a major improvement in management and a better focus on the guest and guest experience. One really annoying thing is that front desk answers the phone but puts you on hold whilst dealing with guests in person. I had to call from the U.K. 3 times to actually speak to someone. Those calls cost me a fortune. I witnessed staff doing this at the hotel in person too. All in all a very disappointing stay and certainly not like any other DoubleTree I’ve stayed in. Great location. Room was clean. Hotel needs an update, especially for what they charge. Pool area is great and lobby is nice and modern. Lots of amenities within walking distance but beaches and Marina are a drive away. Onsite parking was convenient

This Hilton has everything wrong with it. I booked a room with a pool view and was facing a wall. The couch was too low to sit in. I asked for my coffee station to be refreshed in the morning and at night when I returned nothing was cleaned up it looked like someone had thrown a few extra tea bags amidst the clutter/mess that was there. The room was too hot at one point and too cold at another and no temperature control. The starbucks was closed at 8:30 AM not possible to get an espresso or cappucino. The bed was hard. I got NOTHING for being a hilton honors member. Parking is an additional 28 dollars a day!! On top of the price for my "pool view" suite with no pool view.

The check in was easy thanks to Kat. Kat also was very helpfull and accommodating the next day when she assisted us with bike rentals and gave us ideas on things to do in the area. Everyone that worked at the hotel was very friendly. The room was nice and a good value. I would stay here again mostly due to the great customer service and excellent location.

This hotel is 15-20 minutes north of LAX, very close to Venice and not far from Santa Monica. Easy access to all major roads. It's comfortable' with an excellent staff. It's located smack in the center of a large upscale mall, with many good restaurants and stores within a short walking distance. There is a Pavilions grocery store, a 2 minute walk around the corner, and a Gelson's nearby. I saw some reviews complaining that the hotel is separated by two major roads from the beautiful boat marina, which is surrounded by shops and excellent restaurants. That is true, but one can easily walk across those roads at crosswalks with traffic lights and walk signs. Or drive door to door in 5 minutes. The only minor complaints I have are that (nightly parking at $28/dollar a day is a bit excessive, as the parking area is just an open, unsecure lot with gates immediately outside the hotel hotel (given what it is, it should be free). It seems that one could park for free at the surrounding large mall lots a stone's throw from the main entrance. The hotel is a little dated, and could use refurbishing, especially the slow and creaky elevators. Also, cleaning is not automatic; you have tell the front desk the day before that you need it. However, putting aside these minor complaints, we would stay in the hotel again. …
