The historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel has been a legendary Los Angeles landmark since 1923. With exquisite Spanish-Italian Renaissance architecture, including stunning hand-painted ceilings, it's rich history is most noted for its connection with the Oscars - the founding banquet for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was held in the Crystal Ballroom in 1927, where the original "Oscar" statuette was sketched on a Biltmore napkin, and eight Academy Awards banquets were held in the Biltmore Bowl during the '30s and '40s.

After a long while of anticipation and extensive research, deciding to set aside time to visit the Biltmore in Los Angeles was undeniably one of the best choices I've ever made. The hotel impressively maintains its pristine cleanliness and has remarkably preserved its architectural and artistic treasures, reflecting its rich history through the years. As soon as we walked in, it became immediately apparent that the staff at the Biltmore take their roles seriously, demonstrating excellence and attentiveness. However, it was The Biltmore’s Mr. Valentine who made our visit insightful and memorable. Despite all the research we had conducted and the pictures we had seen, the Biltmore turned out to be an experience that exceeded our expectations. Mr. Valentine's kindness and knowledge transformed what was initially just a visit to LA’s Biltmore Hotel, into something special. We quickly realized that the Biltmore is a place one must personally explore to fully appreciate its uniqueness. Without Mr. Valentine, I’m certain that, our visit, and many others, would not have been the same. We are enthusiastically sharing our Biltmore experience with our friends, encouraging them to come and discover it for themselves. We’ve fallen in love with this hotel! Our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Valentine, and the entire Biltmore team for making our visit truly exceptional.

I knew when booking our 4-day stay in LA that I wanted a nice, safe hotel and the Biltmore certainly did not disappoint. Security is throughout and cameras are everywhere for safety and protection. On top of this, I booked Biltmore because of the architecture and rich history! Being an architectural geek, this hotel BLEW my mind! After speaking with multiple security guards about Biltmore’s rich history and them taking the time to be very personable, we were referred to Valentine, the hotel manager. He took time today to show my husband and I around, pointing out numerous hidden secrets of Biltmore, and much more. We thank you, Valentine and the three security staff we spoke with, for making our stay at Biltmore forever memorable! God bless you all. Mandy/Ryland from South Carolina

Very beautiful 100 year old “Grand Dame” hotel. Fun energy. Great Hollywood/Movie living history. On the day of our departure I was taking pictures and I spied the manager Valentine showing a ballroom to another patron. He invited me to join and we had a wonderful 30 min tour of the history and the magic of the hotel. It is so nice to be able to experience the splendor of yesteryear. Thank you so much Valentine! You and your staff made the trip that much more special.

I was attending a weekend event in the hotel, so I booked a suite for six days. I had a friend staying with me for two of the nights, so I called twice to confirm that the second room in the suite had a fold-out couch and a half bath so my friend wouldn't have to come into my room at night. (I am a married lady, and he is not my husband, so this was for both of our comfort.) I can't find my notes from my first call, but I spoke to someone (whose name I will redact because the workers are on strike) the second time at 1:43 on July 12th. When I arrived at the hotel, it was, indeed, beautiful. I had high hopes for my suite. However, the further into the hotel you go, the more the luxury fades. The halls were dingy, and my room was a great disappointment. While some of the furnishings were nice in style, the upkeep was lacking. My first concern was the overwhelming musty smell. I am sensitive to smells, so I went down to ask if another suite was available. I was told no. They said they could send up someone to spray air freshener, but as I have chemical sensitivities, that wasn't going to work. Basically, the agent told me I should burn some candles. !!! I ended up having to do a Shipt delivery from Target and put out some air deodorizers. That was far from ideal because of my sensitivities, but between them and cranking the air down to the minimum, it eventually was tolerable but came back in waves over the course of the week. My friend noticed it, too. Then, I discovered an hour or two into settling in that the door in the second room of the suite was not a half bath like I had assumed. There was no half bath! It just was an adjoining door to another suite across the hall. I went down to discuss this and was told there was nothing to be done. I asked for management. I was told he would email me the next morning. No email ever came, so I went down to ask for him. He was so terse and unhelpful. There was a strong implication that I was making up the fact that I had confirmed there was a half bath. I didn't have my notes on me because I had just switched to a new phone, so I didn't have the name. (I do have that screenshot now of the time and date of the call and who I spoke with.) I asked for a second room to be compensated for the mistake on their part, as it was putting me in a compromising position. He told me I could have another room for $199 a night. With all the extras they charge - really - they charge so much on top of the rate - that would be at least $500 for a mistake on their part. I couldn't get him to accept responsibility for his employees' mistakes. So, eventually, I asked if they could compromise by comping the two nights of parking for my friend and maybe a few room charges. This was the most insulting part - instead of saying, "No, I am sorry. I cannot do that, " he just started repeating robotically, "I can offer you a second room at $199" repeatedly. It was shocking behavior. I have been in front desk management at a large hotel before. I couldn't imagine acting like that to a guest, especially as I was calm and reasonable, though obviously upset by the predicament. His behavior was unacceptable, so I removed myself and said I would let TripAdvisor know. Seriously, it was just so disrespectful. No acknowledgment of my predicament, their responsibility, or sympathy. Just a blank expression and trying to get more money out of me for their mistake. The rooms were, like I said, in bad disrepair. The phone cord would fall out of the base when I picked it up, and the mini fridge couldn't really keep up. The bathroom was filthy. Hair everywhere (see pictures), and the switches were gunked up with black build-up. There was an industrial-style toilet with a loose seat. The kind you'd see in a school or mall. They purport themselves to be a luxury hotel, but this felt like I was staying in a hostel! There were cracks and pink mold in the showers and bathtub. It was really gross. The noise at this hotel is unbelievable. This isn't their fault, but it is worth noting. I was overlooking Pershing Square and am unsure why, but people want to burn rubber out of the intersection regularly until 3 a.m. It sounds like they are filming an installment of Fast & The Furious. Even with a fan and a noise machine I brought, sleeping was hard. Not to mention the random yelling. Once again, there's not much they can do about this, but I'm guessing a courtyard-facing room would be better. I had requested a quiet room. It was the opposite. Likewise, the hotel was sweltering hot during the event. I had to give up and return to my room the second night. Luckily, the in-room AC worked adequately. The bar-restaurant has a bad fruit fly problem. Two of my meals were ruined by them landing on my meal. I started just eating in my room instead. Also, don't count on the front desk to follow through on requests. I asked if there might be a fan I could use and was told they would let me know. Hours went by without a word, so I had to have one delivered from Target. What *was* good about the hotel was the security guard; I am not sure how to spell his name - O'Shea? Oshay? He was DELIGHTFUL. He is the gem in their crown and made sure I had everything I needed and was so very kind. Also, Jaime in the coffee kiosk off the lobby is an absolute king of a man. So sweet and kind to everyone and made an effort to be jovial and prompt every day. I really appreciated him. Bell Services were kind, too. Maybe they could give some pointers to the front desk staff. Likewise, the event staff were impeccable!!! Also, be aware that you will not receive points on your My Millenial account if you book with a group code. All in all, it was a dismal experience for a premium price. I want to attend the event next year, and I need to stay on property with my disability, but I don't know if I can expose myself to such treatment again. I didn't want to write this review, despite my treatment, but I also wanted to spare other people from going in unaware like I was.

We had paid in advance and planned a tour of the hotel. The tour company stood us up. The hotel was in a quandry. Frank Valentine volunteered to give me and my 3 friends a tour. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and the various events over the last 100 years. He saved the day for us and gave us a great experience!
