The receptionist was indifferent. Very basic room, no coffee pot, no hair dryer. Noisy, noise from the restaurant downstairs, cars on the street. The evening manager gave good directions on where to go or not to go in the night time. The room is sort of clean, but the carpet is old, bathroom dark and the fan is noisy. There...

Arrived 12th Dec 06....First night we were worried about tge location but it was well lit up so not too bad. The room we initially got was a bit noisy as it was facing the main road, so we asked to be moved on the next day which the staff were happy to offer us a different room, although it...

We didnt have a car in LA so the location was very convenient, just one block from the metro and bus stop. Located in the downdown you can even walk to convention center. The room and the bath was extremely small but okay if u r just sleeping there and not spending any more time. There was a kitchenette but...

I was scheduled for Federal Jury Duty, and this is one of the hotels on thier referral list. For someone that is not familiar with the Downtown LA area, parking was a headache. It's not very well marked where individuals should park for valet parking (there is only "Taxi Parking Only" signs in front of the hotel). When I contacted...

As a seasoned traveler finding a good hotel in a downtown metro area is usually an expensive proposition however I have stayed on several occasions at the kawada hotel in los angeles and have been pleasantly surpirsed on each visit. A japanese styled hotel that is located downtown is within a block of the metro and the rooms are clean...

We had arrived after a realy bad experience at the quality inn at anaheim. We were a little worried about the area the hotel was in. front desk staff were fantastic and really helpful!! The room, the beds and the bathroom were all very clean! The little coffee shop next door was good and had an ATM. My sister and...

We chose this hotel under the advice of our travel agent. The usual places she preferred were booked so she chose this one.To be fair, our criteria was clean and close to public transport and I guess it did fit the bill in the last respect at least! When we arrived on the airport shuttle bus we were a little...

The neigborhood issues are vastly overstated. Ritzy Omni Hotel one block (and a steep hill) away. Also one block away, a thriving, bustling, inner city Latino community. Payless, RiteAid, Subway, KFC, Taco Bell. et al. There ARE the homeless and street people, but, by far and away, many more families, mothers and children, teens and seniors...people just living their lives....

Everything at this hotel is designed to make the guests absolutely miserable. Forget about such incidentals as skid row location, dirty rooms, "unobtrusive" service, lack of closets and irons and a 20-year old TV. Torture by design goes further than that. On one side of the room there is a "desk" with power outlets but the phone and internet are...

My husband and I stayed there during interviews for new jobs in a new city. I really think that my bad experience there made us not even consider the positions in that city. Once we arrived there was no one at the front to tell us where to park. The lobby reaked of cigarette smoke (and i'm allergic) - they...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
