I travel around the World and can honestly say the Hotel is Beautiful and the Staff were 5 Star. The valet are extremely nice and respectful and my car was ready in minutes with just a text. The front desk was absolutely the BEST…I just returned from Paris and was in awe of the staff there, they were nice friendly Professional and really helpful… so I never expected the young man who checked me in to be even better than my Parisian experience. Michael was a sharp guy with an outgoing personality who engaged in a kind informative friendly uplifting way that should be taught in hospitality schools around the world. His last words to me before saying have a nice night was… Sir, our goal is to make your stay amazing and exceed your expectations so if there’s anything we can do please call us. I walked away thinking, how did he learn to be so welcoming then I found out who hired him. I met the GM Damien Hirsch and realized why the staff at the W are so amazing, he’s the highest caliber and known in the Marriott group as the Master of Leadership, he lives his job, he loves his staff and he cares about the guest experience. Being French and American, he has the best experiences of both worlds. We talked for 30 minutes and he couldn’t have been mor gracious kind respectful and professional. I can tell that he puts the guest first and and really cares about the hotel staff as well. There aren’t many GM’s like him and he should be an Executive VP in charge of development, there’s something beyond Special about Damien and that’s what makes the difference in our stay.…
This hotel is my preferred place to stay when I am in the area because of it's great location and excellent staff. I recently had to stay for a few days for business/working, during the time of my birthday. The whole process/journey from check-in, throughout my entire stay and check-out it was again AMAZING!!!!! Thank you to Jonna for arranging my fabulous suite room, because of my Bonvoy Status and birthday, Greg for a smooth, easy, welcoming check-in process, Shaun also at the front desk for checking in on me during my stay, Osiris for a super easy and helpful check-out process and the main person who's the reason I keep coming back to this amazing hotel, Sayyora!!!!!! There are many other employees at the front desk, valet and restaurant's name I couldn't remember, however please give kuddos to their excellent service. I appreciate all your hard work during these times and making people like myself feel like home when staying at your hotel.…
If you are a W lover as I am, DO NOT GO in this W! It's very expensive and an old low-level hotel renewed with low cost finishes, the room are nothing special and when I arrived I found hair of previous guests in the bathroom and left over of shopping in the drawers... They have breakfast a la carte, terrible expensive (one morning for 2 guest we spent 90$ !!!) and basic choice, the W s typical atmosphere was non present. You should be lucky for the customer service, at the check in I was well treated and my elite plus status was recognized, at the check out the lady wanted to bill me all my benefits and I had hard time to settle the bill... So my suggestion is...AVOID!
This is now my third stay at this particular W and the hotel is in a fabulous location. Everything is within walking distance, which can often be hard to find in most LA areas. This is the one hotel where I would be fine without a rental car. However, the hotel just doesn't align with the W brand image. THE SETUP: - It's beautiful despite having an older more traditional feel of a W branded hotel. The rooms are mediocre; lacking the typical "wow" factor that comes along with any updated W property. - The lobby is beautiful (but cold and uncomfortable). - The pool is gorgeous and so is the outdoor restaurant setup. - The location can't be beat. You can walk to Target, restaurants, farmer's market, UCLA campus, theaters. If traveling with kids to LA, this is the place to be and it's very convenient. - The rooms do not have any coffee or coffeemakers. My absolute biggest complaint about the hotel setup is their lack of concern for regulating the indoor lobby temperature. They leave the doors wide open making it absolutely freezing inside. I heard many people comment during all 3 times I was entering and exiting the hotel. It's honestly almost unbearable and feels as if they are intentionally keeping it wide open to keep the lobby from being crowded? It's a shame because it's the nicest part of the hotel yet completely empty at all times because it's uncomfortable cold. THE STAFF: The valet guys are terrific The evening staff is amazing The daytime staff needs some serious retraining. And I mean serious. The pretentious and unwelcoming attitude makes me wonder why these people are in the hospitality business at all. This goes for just the two out of the four daytime staff members I came in contact with although I'd prefer to leave their names out because the world is already crummy enough at the moment. THE FOOD: - It's fabulous despite being overpriced but I think you should expect that when you stay at a W. - Free coffee in the morning! The coffee station opens late for easter coasters (6am is 9am EST at which point I'm usually dying for coffee). However BEWARE: the coffee is in the FREEZING lobby so grab a jacket when you go down to refill your cup of joe. ELITE STATUS: - I was upgraded to a larger and very nice 2BR suite - I was given a problem during check in for using a client's corporate rate as I was there to work for them. This is understandable as it's the person's job but it should have been handled in a more discreet and private manner versus being announced to everyone in the lobby. I was mortified but willing to comply nonetheless. - If you're a married couple and share your bonvoy account, be sure your spouse adds your name to the reservation if you plan to check in separately. Despite my contact info being listed and my address & credit card # MATCHING the account, they still spent 5 full minutes contacting and verifying. I was told they have been experiencing lots of fraud lately. (im convinced perception is based on appearance in this case as I was dressed casually with two of my daughters). A little extra training on how to treat your best costumers would go a very long way. Also, some training on profiling clients and how to detect potential fraud would also be helpful because I certainly did not fit the bill of a fraudulent guest. On the flip side, the manager was lovely and helpful -- she took care of everything. This hotel as the potential of being amazing but not quite there at the moment.…
I want to start of by saying I am long time Marriott Bonvoy member and have stayed at W hotels before in NYC and Miami. I was excited to book my stay at this property as the level of service was always solid. I am in utter disbelief in what I experienced as a guest in this hotel. We flew in from NY to visit UCLA with my daughter. WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING IN THE ROOM someone came in and stole all of my cash and my wife's Bottega Venetta purse. They were kind enough to dump out the purses contents and my credit credit cards on the way out right by the door. They inexplicably left behind my watch and her Prada wallet after looking for cash inside it. In all my life of traveling I have never had items stolen from my hotel room. I could not belief how utterly unresponsive the hotel staff was. I asked to file a police report and was told "we first do an internal investigation then contact the police" and then I was later told "we don't have cameras in the hall by the rooms" so they could not figure out anything at all. They told me they would file a police report and given I had to catch a flight and leave they would take care of it. I asked to speak with the manager on duty, the head of security, they all told me "don't worry about it we will take care of it" and blew me off. They treated it like I was bothering them. ONCE WE LEFT THEY DID NOTHING! They promised to be in touch with me on Monday morning about the event. I called every single day that next week and could not get anyone on the phone to even speak with me on the matter. "The insurance company will be in contact" was the canned response. Fast forward another week and the insurance company says "sorry you had a safe you should have used it." That is it. Nothing. Meanwhile the safe was hidden in the back of the closet and I was in the room when this happened! Who expects to have people sneak into your room at night! If it didn't happen to me I would not even believe it. The lobby was jammed with people at the bar and restaurant one of which must have wondered upstairs if it wasn't an inside job from the hotel staff. They told me they had footage of my wife carrying the $3500 bag in the lobby up to the elevator but while they acknowledged it was stolen they were not responsible. Imagine someone sneaking into your room while you are IN IT! My daughter was staying right next door as well. It is horrifying and they acted like it was no big deal. I am guessing it happens ALL THE TIME at this property based on there reaction. DO NOT STAY HERE! IT IS NOT SAFE AND THEY DON'T CARE. I will never stay at another Marriott property again.…
I travel to LA frequently for business, but this was my first time staying at the W West Beverly Hills. I spent one week at this exquisite hotel. I received a titanium status room upgrade at checkin thanks to Katherine, who did an excellent job of recognizing my Bonvoy status. Also dined at STK Steak for dinner one night and was greeted and thanked on a first name basis by the maître d' who was very personable and attentive. This hotel is in a great residential location near UCLA with lots of bars, restaurants, markets and shopping within walking distance. At checkout there was an issue with the bill in regards to not receiving my daily titanium breakfast credit ($25 per person) on some days. Shawn promised to take care of it, handled it properly and straightened it out before I left in my Uber for the airport. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, it is appropriately managed and I really enjoyed my stay.…
Me, my dog, and my sister had a great time here. At check-in, they asked if my dog could have treats! The valet was completely worth the fee - all we had to do was text a phone number and our car was ready. Our king suite room was clean and updated. The area surrounding the hotel was safe to walk the dog and to walk around at night. Sightseeing and food adventures were a short drive safe or walk away. The front desk, and management were all friendly, pleasant, and helpful. Will stay here anytime I’m passing through LA, and recommend it to friends and family.
The W hotel for me didn’t felt like a hotel, because I have stay in several hotels and the attention I had over there was so good. The guys at the lobby are so kind and warm, the housekeeping ladies are amazing and pretty much the rest of the staff. If I go to LA again I will have no doubt in staying at the W
Once again, when I can stay at a W, I book it. There is nothing that compares when it comes to customer service. The staff make you feel like a rock star every time. I was always warmly greeted, and every need met. They truly live up to the Whenever Whatever motto. Shawn at the front was amazing. The initial room they gave me had a beautiful view overlooking the pool, but there was a cricket softly chirping somewhere. I called down to the front and they came up, sent up someone to help me pack and move everything to a new room. Shawn put me in one of the penthouse suites. I didn’t expect this, and knew the cricket wasn’t any fault of the hotel, but they certainly made it up to me. I also always enjoy all the delightful decor and ambience. I love bringing my camera and taking fun artsy photos when in a W. Everything about this location was great, and I will definitely return again and again. Thank you for another amazing experience W!…
Location can't be beat, it's walking distance to all the shops & restaurants in Westwood. We booked one night using 50K points & suite night award, to visit our daughter at UCLA. Despite communicating in advance to confirm our 2 bdrm room, we ended up with a 1 bdrm suite that we did not ask for - we spent 20-30min sorting this out when all we wanted to do was check into our room & rest. Our "Spectacular" 2bdrm suite (Room 619) was less than spectacular - couch was so beat up w/faux leather flaking everywhere, shower had this weird square cutout on the door so all the water sprayed all over the bathroom floor, doorbell did not work, and none of the phones in the room worked. Titanium/Platinum breakfast is a joke, you get $25 credit pp but everything is SO overpriced esp coffee being $6 when it's free in the hotel lobby. I wish I would've known about the free coffee in the lobby before we paid $12 plus tax & tip for 2 coffees. Our waiter, Jose, was delightful though - he provided GREAT customer service and was the highlight of our stay. The biggest miss happened when my husband & I went out and left our teenage daughter sleeping by herself. We made sure to put a "do not disturb" sign before heading out, and when we returned around 11am, there was a rollaway bed in the middle of our room that we DID NOT ask for, and we were very disturbed by the fact that someone came into our room WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION despite having a do not disturb sign. This is an unacceptable security breach. My husband found 2 housekeeping staff in the hallway and the male worker admitted that he brought the rollaway bed into our room, b/c his manager Alberto asked him to deliver it. He insisted that he called our room and knocked on our door before coming in (remember how I commented earlier that our doorbell and none of the phones worked in our room?). He was so apologetic (just trying to do his job), but I am apalled that this hotel does not train their housekeeping staff correctly - you should NEVER enter a guest room without permission esp when there is a do not disturb sign. Despite our terrible experience, I am giving an extra star for Jose and because the hotel refunded us for this stay. Unfortunately, there is no great Bonvoy property near UCLA - I recommend staying at the Luskin Conference Center (great hotel!) when visiting UCLA.…
