Hotel's Favourite
It’s just a basic motel room.
The pros:
- 7/11, CVS pharmacy, 24/7 donut shop, and a convenience store all within walking distance
- functioning hair dryer and iron in room
- the pool in the pictures is no longer there, but the courtyard is a lovely spot to sit in the sun on the outdoor furniture provided
- can catch a glimpse of the Hollywood sign from out the front of the property
- toiletries provided in the shower
- laundry room is handy, (have to have own powder as none available for purchase), $2.25 a wash and $2 a dry, quarters only
- we arrived prior to check in and reception held our bags for the hour while we went for a walk
The cons:
- the beds are VERY small, so expect to get cosy
- I didn’t get phone reception here and the wifi didn’t work for over half of our stay which was disappointing
- it’s nice to have bagels provided at breakfast at reception, but the double sided toaster is broken, so it’s quite a wait if you’d like your bagel toasted
- the rooms don’t get turned down til about 4pm. So after you’ve had a big day out, you return back to an unmade room with no fresh towels, etc. then you have to occupy yourself in the courtyard while the room is turned down
- requesting fresh towels from reception is pointless, they will never arrive
- the female reception staff do not speak, and you’d be very lucky to have them even look up from their phones
The facilities were clean and I would be comfortable to stay here again

We chose this as our location as our home base for a week of research and movie mania fun. Price and proximity were our keys. Price is absolutely right. Location next to a giant food store was very convenient. Microwave and fridge made in-room meals easy. Close to less expensive food providers, too. But know that the area and all of Hollywood are infested with homeless campers. We feel for most of them but they are a real downer and scary. Service is average plus. Beds were comfortable plus. Room was clean (but see below). Parking is a rip-off but all other lodgings have monetized everything except oxygen so that was a push. One BIG minus - the carpeting in our room was unacceptably filthy dirty. You don't want to see our photos. So overall our rating is "GO".

Picked this hotel due to its proximity to the Thai consulate, just a few blocks away and price. The review is mostly positive with just a few nit-picks. Got rm 105, in back and on 1st floor. Room was quiet, bed and pillows soft. TV was large and lots of channels. Had microwave, refer, coffee maker, desk, small dinning table. Really more than I expected.
The only down side was no hair dryer and no battery in the smoke detector. Did ask front desk about hair dryer they might have had one to borrow?
You do have to pay extra for inside parking, but not much. Overall a good value compared to others in the area. Would stay there again if in the same area.

Dear Martyjustice, Thank you so much for your kind review. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and our location was convenient for your trip. I apologize for the missing hair dryer and smoke detector battery, there is to be one in each room. So sorry front desk was unable to bring one for you. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, both have been placed back in the room. Thank you again and we hope to get the chance of welcoming you back soon! Kind regards, Priya Bhakta General Manager

Automatic lights in our room (109) kept turning on and off at random. The bathroom lights would turn off in the middle of a shower, plunging me into darkness. The same bathroom lights turned on at random several times an hour DAY AND NIGHT. I reported the problem the next morning, but it was never fixed. The second night we finally got up at midnight (after getting out of bed to turn the lights off 5 times in 2 hours) and removed the faulty switch from the wall, disconnecting the live wires. I reported the problem the next morning for the second time. We were gone all day, came back late afternoon, it still wasn't fixed so we packed up and left a day early exhausted from lack of sleep.
Some office staff were nice, a couple of them were terribly rude. There is also the world's loudest ice machine in the courtyard that can be clearly heard roaring day and night throughout the building. Yes, roaring. I've never heard anything like it.
The rooms are actually very nice, but our carpet smelled of urine, so there are cleaning issues. Fridge, microwave, safe and coffee maker we're all in like new condition. Bed and pillows were comfortable and clean. The room was a good size, the bathroom was really nice, clean with a big shower. But it was hard to appreciate all of the good qualities of this hotel with all of the lights randomly coming on and going off and the unresponsiveness of the front desk staff.
The location is sort of close to Pantages Theater, Walk of Fame, and Paramount Studios. Definitely walking distance to Paramount, walk or a very short drive to Hollywood and Vine.
We could not communicate with any of the cleaning staff as they were all Spanish speaking only, which was frustrating.

The hotel room was just like advertised. The bed was comfortable and it was clean. I am somewhat picky and wished the bathroom was a tad bit cleaner but I could smell disinfectants. The patio area was very clean and inviting. Parking was $15 a night but I didn't mind since I didn't have to worry about finding parking. Close to many restaurants and right next to a Pavillions grocery store. Check in was easy and straight forward. I will definitely recommend to everyone and I will stay here again.

Our TV in our room stop working. We called for the night attendant Elsa to trouble shoot TV. She right out refused and had an attitude because we interrupted her personal phone call. She lied and said that she spoke to the manager which later we found out that she never did. I want the manager to call me regarding this person behavior. Our stay was for a week and it was multiple occasions that she was only engaged in her personal phone calls and refused to meet our needs. Rodeway will not be successful if you have an employees who just want to talk on their personal cell the entire night and not help hotel guest. The day shift attendant was absolutely wonderful and very helpful. I hope you guys give her a raise or promotion for her generosity and the pride that she gives in representing your company. Thanks. Dr Ware.

The room was great like any hotel should be. Clean, bathroom, good bed, and nice interior. The area around it though was crap. $15 for parking, like if I’m staying here paying $200+ then I shouldn’t have to pay for parking. If you’re crazy enough to wanna take a trip to the Hollywood area, go for something closer.

The lobby is ordinary. Grubby and very plain. This is where a basic breakfast is served.
The rooms are fabulous. Roomy and a great bathroom. Location is good but the area has a lot of homeless people on the streets.
This is not a hotel.
More effort could be made for the public areas.

The property from the outside looks pretty dumpy. Secured gated parking garage is very small. Front desk staff was friendly. The breakfast is pre wrapped "grab in go" snack type. The room, honestly way better than expected considering the outside of the property. The carpets were clean, even with white socks on(iykyk). Linens were clean and fresh. Rooms have been updated pretty recently, they were nice.
It is in LA so safety is always a concern but close to nicer neighborhoods so wasn't too bad. My daughter and I felt safe walking to the grocery store next door. Overall we will stay here again when in the area.
