Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills has garnered appreciation for its professional service, though some guests have noted issues with front desk staff. While its central location earns high marks for convenience, opinions on value are less favorable, with criticisms focused on costly parking and perceived lack of special touches. Accommodations offer mixed reviews, with guests enjoying the spacious and comfortable rooms but pointing out noise and dated aesthetics.
Cleanliness generally meets expectations, and amenities like the Tesla charger are a hit, despite calls for updates and a more sizeable pool. The hotel's atmosphere pulses with a trendy, nightclub feel, which may not suit those seeking tranquility.

Hotel's Favourite
Booked a Superior Room, 2 Double Beds, Beverly Boulevard View for 3 nights for 3 persons using the ALL - Accor Live Limitless app. We needed to be close to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
- These were the most comfortable-to-sleep beds we have had in a while. There was a Sealy Posturepedic Titanium 400s Eurotop mattress topped with a lush featherbed. Supported on a slatted raised bed frame. Sheets and pillow cases were Sofitel-branded Centium Core Technology material. Felt very good. There was also a light down comforter.
- Bath amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand lotion & hand wash) were Balmain brand. Scent was mild with a hint of luxury. Paraben free. Argan as one of the ingredients. Very nice.
- Heidi Weisel bath robe. Two pairs of room slippers. 100% Cotton Standard Textile bath towel, hand towels and face towels. All felt luxury.
- We really liked the three section (upper, mid and lower sections) plantation shutters. Made light control for the room easy. No blackout shades which we did not need; some light seeped in but not a lot. The shutters could be opened like doors to get full view through the windows; nice.
- We got a room on the 7th floor (the elevator had 10 floors).
THE GOOD
- Staff service was good. Greeted warmly by Jennifer at check-in and she guided us in-person to the elevators after. Our housekeeper Elise was cordial and scheduled room cleaning when we would be out.
- WiFi was free and reliable. Speedtest results were 12.5 Mbps Download, 13.1 Mbps Upload. This is better than most other US hotels.
- Air-condition cooling worked well and temperature control was easy. We kept the room at about 70°F (the control unit actually read in °C and we set that to 21°C). The air vent ran with a gentle hum of about 72 dB which is comforting white noise level for me.
- The view was ok. From the center of the room, we were looking at the Beverly Center; it's across 6 lanes of traffic so not that close. The side of the Beverly Center is quite interesting with the cascading escalators in view. If we peeked around the Beverly Center towards the east, we could see high rises in the distant LA landscape; also interesting. I wonder whether this south-facing view is better than views out the hotel's north side.
- The location was surprisingly good. Auto traffic on Beverly Blvd and around the block was light. Walking to the Beverly Center as well to Beverly Connection (Target as well as other shops) was easy. We found a couple of nice restaurants within a 10 minute walk.
- At check-in, we were given three Sofitel-branded aluminum water bottles. There was a Flowater filling station in the elevator lobby. Water tasted good. There was also an ice machine room near the elevator lobby.
- The room television was a wall-mounted (with articulation) 47" LG FHD (1080p) with about 100 channels of programming. Image was very clear. Remote control worked well.
- Elevators were generally quick. There were three.
- Hair dryer was a Hamilton Beach Tourmaline 1875. Worked well, although there was no cool button. Tourmaline is an appreciated feature.
- Closet had a safe, ironing board, iron and portable luggage stand, as well as quality wood hangers. There was a cloth laundry bag, but no plastic laundry bag.
- The room was overall in good condition. Carpet seemed clean. Surfaces overall were well-dusted.
- Room lamp lighting was good.
THE ARE-YOU-PAYING-ATTENTION?
- We weren't offered any upgrade. Did I need to ask? Missed an opportunity to over-deliver.
- We booked the room for 3 people. There were three bath towels, but only two hand towels, two face towels, two pairs of room slippers and one bath robe.
- There wasn't any bar soap; sometimes liquid soap isn't the best tool for the job.
- We got toothbrushes from the front desk. Same as you would get from a 3-star hotel. They served the purpose, but was not at the luxury level presented by other features.
- While the bed and bedding was fantastic, the pillow situation was alarming. Each of the double beds had two pillows and a cushion. Of the four pillows we started with, there were three kinds. Two King medium loft feather pillows, one King high loft feather pillow, and one Standard shredded foam pillow. We asked our housekeeper for 6 feather pillows; she got them for us, but two were standard size. It would be great if there was more thoughtfulness in the pillows.
- The bath tub arrangement was a little challenging. Turning on the faucet required reaching in quite far to turn on water flow. Hot water in the bath came quite quickly (within 15 seconds), but I was not willing to stand in the tub to turn on the water flow and wait for the water to heat up. Also, the mixing valve did not seem to be thermostatic. The water would suddenly become very hot with a slight turn.
- The closet doors and bathroom door swung into the same room hallway and would knock into each other and make passing through an issue.
- There was one USB port at the night stand, and one at the work desk. Not enough.
- There was one chair for the work desk in the room. Not enough seating. The room needs at least one more chair or a bench/chaise.
- No refrigerator for personal items. There was a sensor-activated mini-bar in as well as on top of a cabinet. For a 4-star hotel that is near a hospital, a mini-refrigerator is a requirement: for medicines as well as other items related to health. Having a Las Vegas type tricky mini-bar unit is out-of-place here.
- We didn't need to park our car at the hotel. However, the parking fees seem excessive.
- For this trip, check-in time of 3 pm and check-out at 12 pm was ok for us as our itinerary fit with that. However, in general, I get annoyed with the 3-or-4 hour spaces separating check-in and check-out at hotels.
WOULD WE RETURN?
- We would return the next time we needed to be near Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The convenience of the location is there.
- Giving a 5-star TA rating assuming being close to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is an important factor.

This was a great hotel for us as we re-visited some old haunts from days gone by when I lived in Los Angeles. We used Lyft to get around the city, and avoided the cost of renting a car and a place to park. This hotel was very close to many restaurants that we enjoyed -- including one evening in a comedy club above a fish restaurant that was superb.
One complaint that I had is that they do seem to love to perfume the rooms, which can irritate the sinuses a bit. A fresh clean smell is always appreciated, but a heavy dose of perfuming is not the same thing.

Dear guest, Thank you for your review! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our beautiful amenities and our ideal location! It is true that our location is ideal to discover the city without a car as we are closed to everything. We do apologize for the issue regarding the heavy smell of perfume during the day though, this has been shared with our team to avoid any future occurrence of that kind. Looking forward to welcoming you again very soon, Best regards, The Sofitel LA team

I really loved the Sofitel Hotel, it was in a great location and had a lot of stores and restaurants in the vicinity. The lobby is beautifully decorated by paintings. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. They have over night parking for $20 a night if you were to rent a car (highly suggested). The pool area is pretty. The staff is very welcoming. I met Raul Rubio that works as head of security of the hotel, he was very personable and even gave me a few suggestions of places that I could visit. He was attentive and cared about making our experience as enjoyable as possible. My only complaint would be that upon returning home when I looked at the final charge on the hotel, it was about $200 more than I had initially expected. The hotel charges a fee every night that comes out to about $35/night. I had booked the hotel on hotels.com. I called to figure out why it had been os much and the gentleman that picked up stated that those were the rules and that the website (hotels.com) mentions it. I honestly did not see that on the website, but felt the hotel should have the courtesy to remind guests of this. It was never told me to when I checked in, nor while I was checking out.

Dear Lusciouxissy, Thank you for your review! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our ideal location and our amenities! And our one and only Raul Rubio is very proud for having made your stay a success. Stayed here two nights, and we were pleasantly surprised. Although we had to ask for bathroom amenities (the only small glitch...when we were asked,”How much do you need?”), ha! We knew what you meant.
All of the staff here was consistently very pleasant and friendly. That makes a big difference in hotels that are sometimes expensive just for the fact that their location is in a city and close to shopping. We were welcomed and spoken to each and every time we either came or went; not intrusively or in a shallow manner, but genuinely and in a friendly manner. That upped the comfort level considerably.
The room was nice, and we didn’t mind an eagle’s nest view of the Bloomingdales building across the street on our side. The noise of the street was a small issue the first night, because even on the 10th floor, the sound of sirens (hospital right there) and loud mufflers makes it through. We used a noise machine; problem mostly solved. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The proximity of restaurants was great (breakfast at Norm’s...old style family restaurant with wonderful food) in lieu of the hotel restaurant being still closed, worked just fine. We’d recommend the Brazilian restaurant on the hotel list (amazing), and El Coyote restaurant (also very good) if you like Mexican food (a necessity for us).
Overall, we can’t say it enough (again) about the staff of this hotel. They made all the difference.

Stayed here for two nights in a two double room. We arrived at 1:30 am. Were welcomed by drunk guests giggling and yelling in the lobby taking selfies with the art.
Receptionist was friendly, quick and efficient, promised Salsa night would be over in 15 minutes.
Room was on third floor right above entrance area which gave us the great pleasure to hear squeaking party goers hanging out in front of hotel, waiting for their Ubers.
Room average, beds comfy, bathroom okay. Everything a bit outdated and banged up.
Second night impossible to sleep as pounding music was played in bar/club below us, same procedure, loud guests in front of hotel waiting for drivers way past 1am. Over all it is very light hearing, if you have someone sneezing or snoring in the room next to you, you hopefully have earplugs at hand.
I could not believe they rent out rooms that get so much noise from within the hotel. Either you're a club or a hotel...both at the same time appears challenging to me. Given many previous reviews there have been many complaints about this but apparently it does not matter to management.
On a positive note all staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Nonetheless I would not recommend this Hotel if you care to sleep at night.

Historically, I've considered Sofitel to be a brand that is a significant notch above other "near-luxury" brands like Westin, etc. The rooms tend to be more thoughtfully designed, the staff better trained, the service more proactive. Alas, the Sofitel Los Angeles seems to be the exception to that general principle. Mostly, though, had they done the basics about recognizing status travelers with their frequent stay program, much of the rest would have been overlooked.
It started out at the very beginning of the stay, where although they thanked me for being a "loyalty member," and said that it was in the system, there was no tangible recognition of my platinum status. Not only did I not receive any sort of upgrade, but I didn't receive the welcome amenity or the drink coupon that I should have received as a platinum.
When I arrived at the room (after some confusion and a phone call to the front desk because the check-in agent's handwriting left me unable to distinguish between their 4 and a 6), I found a very average hotel room, with some notable shortcomings. First, and most frustrating, there were no accessible plugs next to the bed (that I could find), so I had to unplug one of the lamps to plug my phone in. Second, one of the bed lights didn't function. The bed itself was excellent.
The bathroom was solid, with a nice rain shower fixture, and the amenities ("Lanvin" branded) were better than average.
The fitness center was also solid, complete with several Peloton bikes and a rowing machine (Concept2 erg).
Breakfast the next morning (a very modest extra cost when booking the room) was also very good, in the French model - superb coffee and croissants.
When I checked out, I asked the agent at the front desk whether it was typical that a Platinum would receive no recognition/amenities. Embarrassed, she apologized, and said that it was because their systems run the status list in the morning, so they don't capture anyone who books same day (I booked early in the afternoon of my arrival for my last minute business trip). That's a pretty fundamental misdesign of their guest management systems.
I probably would have given them 4 stars (knocking them down for the room power situation), the complete lack of recognition of a platinum's status/delivery of promised benefits brings them down to 2 stars.

Talk about facilities and correct booking in. I booked in January for a Luxury room with bath on high floor.
They gave me initially a dingy small dark room with no bath.
On complaining they managed to find a larger more airy and lighted room but still with a larger shower.
On booking in they took $504 off my Amex without realising that all I owed was $204.
Shabby and hopeless service - I have been staying here for 6 years 3/4 times a year but no more - they have lost my future business.

Not Sofitel standard at all... rooms all need updating, as do bathrooms. The property has one unmatchable feature - conveniently positioned so close to Cedars Sinai Hospital - a five minute walk. Since this was the reason for our stay, our expectations were minimal, and our needs also very few.
Housekeeping was inefficient and generally the focus seemed to be on all the different acts on different nights in the bar. Interesting art in the lobby - but "mood" lighting spoiled enjoying any of it. The Beautiful People from the world of music and entertainment are regulars and sadly guests of the hotel are ignored. Order a drink in your room!

I had a wonderful experience at Sofitel Beverly Hills the hotel for the a very comfortable luxurious experience with all the amenities one requires and excellent service. The location is perfect close to my favourite shops and the on-site lounge has some of the best live music in townand salsa and fun vibe.
I was blessed with an upgrade to get to the penthouse with amazing views of the Hollywood hills and the city.
I have stayed in deluxe room as well it is rare in LA to have a spacious luxurious room at a afffordable rate. The housekeeping were very attentive and efficient and I love the European influence with the Hollywood glam.
I needed to print out my travel documents and the staff were most helpful I felt safe and all my requests were kindly attended to.
I would highly recommend staying Sofitel and extremely grateful for my experience.

Upon checking in our pre-paid room they took my credit card and charged it $845.00. They did not explain that that would be charged, I am checking on why today. Nice room although in the photos online they looked large it is quite small. We opted for the Hollywood Hills view and paid extra I was expecting more room in our room. Very small to most hotels I have stayed in the past. We did eat in the hotel dining room, good burgers.

I do not know for certain as I do not live in LA. Best to check with hotel directly. The staff there are very helpful.
I actually prefer the "garden suites"? that are on the side where the Jewish School is. I believe they are on the 3rd floor. The hotel is very very nice, and the lobby, hallways, and guest rooms are all high-end. There is nothing sloppy here.
$15 max per day at Cedars Sinai parking garage. 10 minute walk.
While on the smallish side, the pool is large enough to do short laps. Around the pool there are a few lounge chairs for sunning and a few covered cabanas. Overlooking the pool is a nice-sized patio with several more lounge chairs. All of this seems to get the sun much of the day.
