Disgraceful experience. Not worth any of your buck and probably in top 5 of LA’s worst accommodations. The motel is dirty, worn out, disgusting and ugly. Stains on the sheets and towels, the carpet that hasn’t been cleaned since 1983 and wallpaper that is hanging off the walls. Power outlets that didn’t work, WiFi didn’t work either and the staff was uninterested, borderline blunt. Just do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Heaps of other options in LA.
Good experience; the motel was as expected, the room was very clean, bed smells fresh, felt safe, plenty of parking. To be honest just the WiFi was kinda bad but wasn't a big deal for me as I used only my phone. The other good thing is that the place is not far from hollywood Boulevard, If you are driving of course, so about 15 min driving to do the walk of fame.
We stayed one night at the Friendship Motor Inn and it wasn’t pleasant. The guy at the front desk was very nice and helpful to be sure. That being said the room was dirty (both built in grime and dirt that could easily be wiped up…wasn’t even vacuumed) things were broken everywhere and the right bed ended up giving us a half a dozen bed bug bites. The lobby area has been recently re-done and once they re-do the rooms, it will probably be a great place to stay. Until then, stay at your own risk.
Half way between downtown and the beach and close to all the dining in K-town this clean basic motel is a great place to stay to explore LA. We booked 4 nights with Vic and had a quiet upstairs room as promised and there was ample free parking. Good value for Los Angeles.
My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights and we loved it. We found it to be spotless, very safe, big room, and well lit. There is free parking and we got a nice big king bed and first floor room, so I could see the car in front of me. Yet some how, the rooms feel soundproof. There were plenty of clean towels, amazing espresso coffee and fresh nestle juices. The owner is a pleasure and very kind, he is genuinely concerned for you and wants you to enjoy it. I myself am a hotel host for short term rentals so I really do appreciate him and the place he has created for his guests. Thank you, I will definitely recommend to my family and friends who come to LA. Best of luck, Magali Sofia
Me and my partner stayed at the motel for 4 nights and was good. The place is nice, clean and comfortable; there is a big bad where to rest after a long day around LA. From our bedroom we could see the “Hollywood Sign”. A plus is the owner, he is very helpful with planning your day and he can give you some tips to get the best from LA.
We stayed in LA for just 3 nights but we were delighted with our choice of the Friendship Motor Inn and our experience with the manager (unfortunately I did not get his name). My 4 star rating is directly attributed to his great customer service as I believe customer service is fundamental in any hotel, or business experience for that matter. The manager made check in simple and was always happy to give us information on LA, tell us stories, and generally help out. He seemed to work 247, he'd be at breakfast in the morning (breakfast was fairly good, not a great selection but enough to keep you going) and we'd then even see him doing laundry in the late evening! Other than the customer service, the room was nice, we were on the second floor, we didn't drive but there appeared to be plenty of parking. The heater was good and we had a microwave and fridge amongst a comfortable bed and other good amenities including good TV channels. It is situated in an okay part of LA, and the transport to and from the motel via the Metro was good enough (there are some stops nearby). Unfortunately, there aren't many grocery stores in the vicinity, and the nearest fast food chains are about a 10+ minute walk away. Housekeeping was good and overall we enjoyed our stay. The only issue was probably the location, but if you have a car then I don't see anything wrong with this place!…
Very clean, even though the hotel is slightly older I felt it was very clean which is more important! So quiet too, couldn't hear any neighbours or anything! Perfect for a light sleeper. Hotel staff were also very friendly
I would like to begin by saying that the service provided by the management (owner) of Friendship Motor Inn was absolutely disgusting and extremely rude! He was completely abrupt to our requests. There is NO WAY I would ever stay in this filthy place! Breakfast was a total joke - How on Earth do you serve breakfast without eggs! The breakfast was very basic and consisted of cheap bread, tasteless butter, tea/coffee with home brand milk and a tasteless apple danish. We had our breakfast once and then chose to eat at McDonalds which was fair bit of distance from the motel. The room was very old with lot of smell of mould in it. No one bothered to make up our room despite our stay for 3 days. The fridge in the room did not have any drinks and not even a bottle of water. When we asked the owner why there weren’t any drinks, he didn’t have any answer. No one even bothered to assist us with the luggage to the room considering we had a 3 year old with us. There was no international adapter in our room so we could charge our phones. When we asked why there weren’t any adapters in the room considering majority of the guests in the motel were from other countries, the owner rudely said “Someone from your country Australia borrowed the adapter from reception and didn’t return on time, so I charged him $20 (through his credit card that he used to make booking) even though it cost me only $5”. It is not only rude for the owner to have said that but also unethical for him to have charged 4 times the price of the adapter. The location of this motel is not so good part of LA and fair but of distance from the airport. There were No amenities near by and we had to catch a cab even to buy drinks or something to eat. We have visited LA on a number of occasions before but this was our worst experience ever! I will NEVER EVER stay at Friendship Motor Inn again in my life even if happens to be the last motel left in LA. I hope my review helps other to decide whether they want to stay in this cheap motel or not.…
This is a fine place to stay on a budget, not too far from the Hollywood area. This is a typical motel, if you go in expecting a fancy hotel, you might be in for a disappointment. The property is small, does not have an elevator so if you get a room on the second floor like I did, you'll have to haul your luggage up a flight of stairs. There is free parking in the hotel lot. We had booked a two queen bed room. The room was quite spacious, there was a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. The bathroom was small but neat. The room had a table and couple of chairs - it did look dated but importantly, I found the room and bathroom to be quite clean and in order. The famous Hollywood sign was visible from the second floor balcony! The breakfast could do with improvement. It is quite a lean offering. Bread, couple of cereal options, coffee and juice. There is no seating area for the breakfast, you're expected to carry it to your room in a tray. Super friendly owner as well - always a good thing if your host is friendly and offers tips and suggestions to a visiting tourist!…
