This isn't your typical hotel. It looks like a former apartment building. They only have street parking and give you permits to park, please use them! I checked in with this nice man that gave me my parking permits and old school key to my room. Always check to see if your door is properly locked while coming and going. The room was a bit underwhelming. The only colors I saw were white and gray. Some modern framed pics, silk flowers and a colorful area rug would've made a HUGE difference. If you have a primo parking spot on the street, I recommend leaving your car there and walking to go get food. The Farmers Market and Grove are less than a mile away. So it's a brisk walk. The room has a mini fridge and single cup coffee maker. But it was ALWAYS cold in that room, so I had to blast the heater. The bathroom had stone-like floors and marble walls and the heating unit was too far so that bathroom was FREEZING! The shower pressure was quite low and temperature was slightly warmer than luke warm at best. But the toiletries was only a small bottle of conditioning shampoo (I hate those) a little bottle of lotion, bar soap, and a shower cap. It's obvious they're renovating the common areas, so hopefully it'll look nice when it's all finished. My only big gripe are that the walls are paper thin. I mean you can hear everything from everywhere all at once, in the hallways, clomping from shoes above, to people in the room next to mine having sex until 3am. I had to put in ear buds just to get to sleep. I didn't even really want to shower in the morning because the bathroom was so cold. I did, but it was a quick one. They leave a breakfast bag outside your door in the morning, which was a nice surprise. Surprisingly, I'd stay here again. The neighborhood feel, and the friendly staff would have me come back.…
Exactly what I was looking for in Los Angles. Stopped in Los Angles for the weekend before heading to Hawaii. I wanted a hotel that was decent and in a good location without the crazy cost associated with LA. I typically don't want to throw a ton of money at a hotel as we just use it as a place to sleep and shower. To that end, Wilshire Crest fit the bill to a T. Big room, nice bathroom renovated recently with good Wi-Fi. It appears to be a renovated apartment complex. No real view of the city, our room overlooked the courtyard. Plenty of light. Individual AC and mini fridge in the room. There were not a ton of plugs to be found, think studio apartment. No USB that I saw. It is a 2 story building without an elevator so if that is an issue, please let them know ahead. The carpet may have been a bit dated, but I found it to be clean an kept up nicely. We had no problems checking in. There is on street parking included, and we were able to find a place quite close every time we went out. Bag breakfast was left by the door after 7am. Sort of a Continental Breakfast with some additional yogurt and bananas. The desk was manned all the time, and the door was locked at night, but staff was very pleasant and responsive to anything we needed. It was walking distance to a few restaurants one block away, but the street it is on was very quiet. If you simply want a nice place to stay while in LA, I would highly recommend Wilshire Crest.…
We always stay here when we come to Los Angeles. It is an excellent value in a great location. Easy walk to the Farmer's Market, the Grove, the new Academy Museum, La Brea Tar Pits and Museum Row. The rooms are spacious and recently renovated. There is a sink inside the bathroom as well as outside, and we found the water pressure on the showers to be excellent. Neighbourhood is quiet - they give you a parking permit for street parking and we have never had an issue finding a spot. They are great to deal with and we will continue to come back whenever we visit the LA area.
This hotel has potential. But I felt like it is being neglected. The good: - Location! Steps away from LACMA and La Brea Tar Pits - Room: renovated and in very good condition. - Cute, homey feel, like a traveler's hostel. - Price was competitive for the area. The bad: - Front desk staff seems "out of it" and disengaged. Like he is an introvert working a front-end retail job -- wrong fit. - Shower pressure is awful and the showerhead leaks - Room was very cold, needed 1-2 hours to warm up from the floor radiator. - Staff leaves a little breakfast bag at 7-8am and knocks on the door (!) to let you know, which feels jarring, particularly if I'm sleeping. - This breakfast bag has mostly high-sugar, unhealthy plastic baked goods like one would find at a gas station. (And, fortunately, a banana and Greek yogurt.) And no bottled water or other beverage is included to wash it down. - Marks of neglect: - The hallway smells like a cat litter box. - No plates over any of the light switches. - Fake plants/flowers - No music or thoughtful ambience in the common spaces besides the basic homieness. …
My mom came to visit me in LA and needed a place to stay close to Beverly Hills, Beverly Grove, and the Mid-Wilshire area. She wanted something nice, but not too expensive in the neighborhood, and that was close to my apartment. The hotels on Wilshire Blvd. range from $300-$500 per night, but the Wilshire Crest was so affordably priced for what she got. She stayed at the hotel for over a week and had zero complaints. She loved the spaciousness of her room, the quietness of the hotel, and the employees' hospitality. They even brought her breakfast pastries every single morning to her door, free of charge. I would highly recommend the Wilshire Crest to anyone coming to LA. It really is the perfect gem!! Cheers.
Perfect location near the Academy Museum and Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art. Huge, clean room, breakfast delivered each morning and lovely outdoor spaces. Plus the Metro is being extended and there should be a station just a few blocks away before too long
I stayed at the Wilshire Crest Hotel when I went for my visa appointment in LA. The room was big, clean, had a comfy bed, good AC, and a helpful staff. It was a nice 15-20 minute walk to the VFS office. Maybe less if you aren't gawking along the way!
Clean room and lobby area. We enjoyed the selections for the in room breakfast. Staff was very friendly and responsive . Location was excellent, near good restaurants, shopping and museums. Will definitely stay again when we return to LA.
We have been staying here on and off for the past 5 years and we continue to come back because this is our home away from home. We know the staff well--Ross, Jerry, Alan, Benjie--and they know us already too, and whatever requests we make, they're extremely accommodating. The location is perfect--walking distance to Cedars Sinai, The Grove, great restaurants nearby. The street is quiet and we never have any problem finding parking for 5 days (maybe we were just lucky!). We feel very safe here. Unlike some newer hotels, the rooms are very spacious, beds are super comfy, water pressure is great, AC works fine. Glad to know also that the owners have been doing upgrades on the property. All in all, it's a great hotel! We'll keep coming back here.
Overall the experience is good. The bed is comfortable and the rooms are clean. They don’t have a restaurant but it is acceptable as it is a boutique hotel. They deliver the complimentary breakfast in a small bag to your door every morning. The reason why I gave 4 starts instead of a 5 is because I was hearing talking and laughing from the lobby in my room even around 11 pm. The problem is not that people were sitting there but rather the lack of sound isolation in the building. In addition, they had construction going on and my windows were covered with plastic sheeting, therefore I didn’t had any views of outside. Also the entrance was blocked on my first day because of thr construction and all guests had to enter from another entrance to the side. The hotel should’ve communicated the changes and/or their shortcomings related to the construction to the guests beforehand.…
