For the $250 a night price tag I was expecting a Las Vegas type room but instead was greeted by a room with an Ikea Apple contemporary, minimalist style type room with a bed on the floor. We're talking no side table and really not much of anything in the room other than the phone on the floor and a...

We only had one night in LA so wanted to be downtown to be close to the train station. Loved the hotel, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, very modern esp. the shower which is quite visible from the room ;).Rooftop bar is nice for evening cocktails. Restaurant is only average so skip. Lobby area is funky, take some time...

Stayed here for four days with my girlfriend. This was our first visit to LA. The Standard was a nice hotel and I can say I was happy with our choice. Check in was smooth. Staff was friendly. Stayed in the medium sized room. Plenty of space for two people. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. And the bathroom design...

We stayed at the Standard recently and were very disappointed. The hallways are dark and creepy. The rooftop pool was murky. Hated the design of the room. Stark and uncomfortable. Trying too hard to be trendy. Pretentious. I would not stay there again.

We recently stayed one night in a standard sized room. It's very cool and modern, kind of stark. If you hate minimalistic styles this hotel is NOT for you. However, I loved it! Very cool bathroom set up as well. The rooftop bar and lounge rock! The drinks are a bit pricey but the awesome views make up for it!...

After visiting LA several times over the past 10 years, I stumbled upon The Standard by accident and vowed to stay the next time I was visiting. I managed to find a good rate via booking.com, as the hotel rates are way out of my budget, but we decided to treat ourselves for one night (think we paid about £85,...

From the check in to check out, this hotel offers true Rockstar treatment. The valet service is quick and affordable, the front desk staff are friendly, professional and accommodating, housekeeping has fantastic attention to detail, and the rooms are truly fantastic. I have enjoyed upgrades in the past and cannot speak highly enough of the staffs ability to make your...

Hotel specially made for young adults who want to spend good times in Los Angeles. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable, and the staff was friendly. I think these are the most important when we come down to a hotel.

I really did not like this hotel. I found the rooms to be modern (but not particularly well designed). I thought the food was over priced...although it was good. I also didn't appreciate the over sexualization on everything from the phone, to the TV, to the packaging of items on the mini bar.

We stayed there for 2 hours before we checked out and booked another room at another hotel. This place is terrible. We stayed in the large room on a Saturday night. Thought the pool on top would be nice, yes, but far from tranquill. After we checked in they put up ropes and security, then 20.00 a head and the...

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
