Stayed for 2 nights. Room is nice and staff friendly, but they placed a group of kids on my floor, and they were very noisy. Had to call on the front desk so they would stop blasting music at 2am. Wasn’t able to sleep well my second and last night. It was so noisy that I thought the staff would say something when I checked out, but nothing, shame. There are so many good hotel options out there, why risk it, I’d choose another one.
over the past few years we’ve stayed at the AC Marriott, just a block farther down Wilshire from this hotel... for some reason we decided to try the Kimpton this stay and thoroughly enjoyed it, in spite of CoVid. I am very sad that I hadn’t done it sooner and it will most definitely be our go-to spot going forward since our son lives up at La Brea and Wilshire. this is a small boutique hotel with only five full guestroom floors and a very small reception area but the valet parking is much nicer and more efficient than the AC Marriott, the staff is lovely and eager to help and accommodate us especially with Covid… The pool was open and somebody was up there attending to the bar and food needs (unlike the AC Marriott in September)... The morning breakfast box, again because of Covid was very diverse with locks and bagel and cream cheese and yogurt and fruit on the yogurt and a piece of fresh fruit and a muffin and I forget what else and that took care of us just fine. When you ask for anything instead of a robot delivering it to your room as happens at the AC Marriott due to Covid, A human being brings it to you here. They have a nice little happy hour option again even though it’s Covid but no socialization on the second floor quiet space. We would definitely go back and even the general manager wrote me a lovely note in response to some things I asked for which couldn’t have been sweeter. Thank you all.…
This hotel is an odd place with a number of strengths and glaring weaknesses. Among the strengths would be a central location to a number of LA-area attractions, the rooftop pool area, daily popcorn, and a friendly staff. Negatives include the lack of an on-site fitness center, failure by the front desk to inform us about the nightly "wine hour", the wine hour only including 1 glass of wine per person (unlike other Kimpton's, which have no limitations), and an awkward one-way entrance to the valet stand. In addition, the immediate area is sketchy, including people sleeping on the sidewalk nearby, homeless campers, etc. In fairness, those issues are out of their control. The rooftop pool and restaurant is wonderful. However, on the one day we planned to hang by the pool, it was closed most of the day for a private event. The hotel was sensitive to our concerns and arranged for us to go to another Kimpton property, but it was 30 minutes away and killed the vibe of a pool day by the time we got there.…
Rooms are so tiny. Customer service is non existent. The hotel is dirty dirty dirty. Location is ok if you like homeless and drugged out people. The pool is soooo tiny and the sitting area is taken by locals (NOT GUEST).
Recently stayed here for 3 nights while we were in town for a charity event- hotel is small and boutique-y. Very modest lobby but rooms were very nice and great location with awesome rooftop pool. What sets this hotel apart from the rest is the staff- I have never experienced staff so committed to ensuring a great stay and willingness to help with anything.. Kristen and Carolina at the front desk were so accommodating with all requests and really went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful stay. The rooftop pool was immaculate with amazing views and also superb staff! The food was surprisingly excellent! Coming from someone who has stayed at many high end, luxury hotels, I would highly recommend this place.
Nice staff and great views from the rooftop. Food and drinks are much better than the last time I stayed here. They are clean and everyone had a mask on. My friends and I had no issues staying here. Internet is a bit slow and some of the rooms could be updated, but overall it was good.
We had a great night on our staycation as a couple wanting a night off from baby duty. We loved having drinks by the pool and the free popcorn and coffee in the lobby! Our room was huge and very comfortable. I loved the bathtub in the shower. Very spa-like! We’ll be back soon!
TV was on at 11 PM arrival and remote would not turn off. No access to power cord. Had to put a towel over to fall asleep. Asked front desk to repair and was not addressed in 3 day stay. Internet speed was less than 2 MBPS and was not repaired with call to tech support number or front desk. No ice in ice machine and told front desk day 2. Was never replenished. They still charged resort fees even though amenities were closed for COVID. HVAC is extremely noisy. I think the positive reviews might be from a very small number of Suite room stays.
Hotel staff are nice. They upgraded our room from a Premier King, to a suite, and well, lets just say the views are not what is posted on the website. Our room looks out to a blank wall. If you are staying here, make sure you specify if you want a view. Other than that there isn’t a lot around. It is 1/4 mile from the Peterson Car Museum, which is nice.
We have stayed in a lot of Kimpton hotels, but were not at all impressed with this one. We were so excited to stay here based on the ratings, reviews and photos. But everything in regards to service fell below our expectations. I understand everyone in the hospitality industry is short staffed, but by not giving the customers anything in the room, they are asking for people to call for things, everything we asked for tool at the very least 30 minutes to arrive. But you have to ask them for everything including ice. There was not even q tips or shower cap in the bathroom which we didn't even bother to ask because it'd simply took too long to arrive. We asked for a refrigerator in our room - it was there, however it didn't work. We asked for another, but that never happened during our stay and we just used the cooler we brought ourselves to keep our items cold. When we arrived, there was no greeting at all. The valet was so overwhelmed with no help. We were looking for a bell cart for our luggage which was no where to be found so we ended up making multiple trips ourselves to unload. There were staff at the front desk but no one greeted us so we almost didn't know that was the front desk. One of the elevator was not working and the elevator was so small that only one party fit in so it took us a long time just to get in the elevator. When I asked the staff about the other elevator that didn't seem to be working, she said "oh ya I think they are coming later to fix it". So the hotel was aware of the issue but didn't bother to put up a sign. We did eat at the restaurant on the rooftop and it was a great experience. The staff was friendly and very efficient. Cocktails were delicious!…
