I stayed at Elan Hotel some days before and more than a month after surgery at nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. If you book through their site, they offer the most competitive rate and also the even lower medical rate if you travel for medical reasons. I found both rooms where I stayed to be very clean, the only areas where I was able to find some dirt were the window mosquito net, the balcony banister and the blackout curtains. The mattress was hard and comfortable, even for an extended stay. If you ask for room number 219 to 222 you will get what I think are the quietest rooms since they are on the back of the hotel building and do not face the somewhat noisy Beverly Blvd. As for the rooms, they are not the most spacious I have seen but there is a desk that you can use to work with a laptop, and you can also ask for a small microwave oven to be brought into the room. Location is also great if you do not have a car: I found a Trader Joe's grocery store, CVS pharmacy, laundromat, dry cleaner and several restaurants all within walking distance. For me however, the most notable aspect was the quality of the reception service. Carlos offered much needed flexibility while I was at the hospital and did not have a sure date for my discharge, Nayroby and Gabriel were always warm and welcoming and even cared about how I was doing with my recovery. The only annoyances that I encountered were tied to the COVID prevention protocols that the hotel is following, there is no daily housekeeping service, though you can ask for new sheets and towels, and breakfast is not served. Also, laundry and room services were not offered during my stay. Given that I found these precautions to be useful, as well as the mandatory face mask in the hotel common areas, I have not detracted anything from my rating because of them.

An amazing affordable stay. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is very polite and helpful. A nice little lounge area with computers and printers came very hand for me personally. All in all, a great steal. Highly recommended.

It was not made clear before arrival where the parking was. I drove around the building/ block twice thinking I missed it. I called and it was explained that the gate in the front of the building that led downward would be opened for me. The parking is odd because there are double spaces but you can only park in one of them or you will block the car closest to the wall or, if you parked closest to the wall, you would be blocked in. For that you will pay $36/day. The room was adequate but small. Tiny balcony but no chairs to sit on out there. So not that practical. I had surgery the day after arrival and upon return to my room expecting it to be made, I found that it had not. I was terribly groggy but luckily had a friend with me to help get me settled in. My friend went to the front desk to let them know that the room had not been attended to. He was told that only stays of 3 nights or more get room service. The front desk person then said he was told that at check-in, which neither he, nor I was. There is nothing on their website to state this nor when I made the reservation directly with the hotel was this fact made known. Their website states that they offer "5 Star Amenities". One could easily take that as having a guestroom attendant make the room daily. When my friend advised the front desk person that no one told us this, she called him "a liar". Wow! Later she apologized for being that rude. So we had to ask for new towels and gave someone the trash (as we ate dinner the night before in our room). I would definitely not call this anything close to 5 Star. It would more accurately rate as a 2-3 Star. A 2-night stay with hospital rate, no maid service, and parking cost over $400. Not the best experience nor value for the money. Next time I will look elsewhere.

Very nice hotel and the staff is wonderful. We can't wait until things are back to normal, though. Nayroby at the front desk is a wonderful presence and welcoming, warm face of the hotel. Carlos is cheerful and kind as well.
