This is probably the best hotel in downtown LA. The rooms are well decorated and high enough that every single one has a lovely view. The fitness center is spacious and the room service was tasty. However, for $1,000/night for a basic room, its not worth it. The AC units are noisy, the service is pretty lackadaisical, and the location is.. well, its downtown LA so its awful. You're close to the convention center which is really the only reason why I think you'd stay here. So nothing horrible about the hotel but nothing to justify the laughably high rates
The hotel is luxurious as expected, but still manages to exude a traditional Californian charm devoid of stuffiness. I enjoyed the stay. Staff were professional and efficient, while warm and engaging. My preferred accommodation when in LA. I recommend.
This experience was top-notch from the day before arriving until the last moment at checkout. The staff and their level of service was impeccable. My friends and I have stayed all over the world and this by far was the best hotel experience ever! I would be remiss if I did not mention the staff members that provided excellent service. Mariana gets the VIP award for this hotel. She reached out the night before my arrival to welcome me with a warm and thoughtful email. Upon arrival, I met Victor at the front desk and the checkin process was perfect. He was kind and helpful and provided me with useful information while visiting the city. Next, the Club Lounge staff was one of a kind. Shout out to Emad and Cameron for making custom cocktails and sharing ideas about things to do while in town. From the room cleaning professionals to the guest services management and staff, I highly recommend this hotel! You won’t regret it! My friends and I will be back very soon!…
We recently stayed at a handful of Ritz-Carlton properties, which is why this one feels a bit like it doesn't belong. Location — It's in Downtown, which was expected. However, it's also connected to the JW Marriott (physically located, you can walk between the two hotels) and they occasionally share amenities (e.g. if one of the pools is out of service). In-Room Dining — We had a mixed experience. Dinner was quick and decent, but when we ordered two bottles of water at 10pm, it took them 45 minutes to bring them up. Notably, I called after 30 minutes complaining about the issue and asking not to get disturbed anymore since we would go to sleep. Instead of offering a speedy delivery, all we got was an "OK" — with staff knocking on our door 15 minutes later (with us in bed). The optimal experience here would obviously have been to offer a speedy delivery and apologize for the issue. Housekeeping — Top notch, and incredibly friendly. Zero complains. Valet — The guys are friendly, but slow. We called asking for the car to be brought around. They said "we will bring it up straight away" — 20 minutes later, the car was still not out. Instead, luxury after luxury car was given what felt like preferential treatment. Managing expectations here would be nice. Rooms — Nice, quiet (at least the corner city view room), comfortable bed and OK views. Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory in the (far) distance. Front Desk — Nice staff. Definitely more of a city hospitality than in San Fran or Palm Springs. But they did offer champagne and water on arrival, and water whenever we pass by which is nice. Generally, for the same nightly price as in Palm Springs and San Francisco, we think that this property does not live up to the Ritz-Carlton standard. Next time we'd choose another Marriott Bonvoy property to get better service/value for money.…
My husband and I recently traveled to Los Angeles from NYC to celebrate my 60th birthday and attend my best friends’ wedding. We have stayed at other 5 star hotels while in LA on past visits. We can honestly say that that will no longer be the case. The Ritz Carlton DTLA is the obvious choice from now on. Yes, it is the Ritz after all but as in other past reviews, I always say that the PEOPLE is who actually makes the brand. The caring way the staff host their guests is very impressive indeed. From the time we got picked up at LAX to the time we checked out will now be a very fond memory and we are SURE to stay at this property every time we visit LA. Check in was a breeze. Valet was seamless (thank you Jesse), Victor at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming, a very good first impression, we had lunch while waiting for the suite to be ready and it was worth every minute. (Less than 20 minutes since we arrived quite early we expected to wait a bit longer) Victor really came through and offered us a stunning corner Executive Suite with the most amazing views of Downtown and the West side of LA. Thank you Victor! Beds are what one expects from The Ritz Carlton, SUPER comfortable and always clean. Ample space in our Suite to relax and unwind from the stress of NYC! Irene and Marianne, thank you for making our stay a wonderful experience. Corina in Housekeeping and Paloma at Security were most attentive, always very professional and friendly as the rest of the staff. Everyone is truly a great Ambassador to the brand. All our expectations were more than exceeded. The spa is world class. Make sure not to miss it! A great experience, great people and services. We had two deep tissue massages and enjoyed the rest of the time at “The Sanctuary” The lobby is small yes, but it is very well appointed and it gives it that feel of exclusivity. The property sits right in the middle of LA Live. Beautiful structure and very centrally located. Everything one needs can be found within a 15-20 minute drive or walk. Being from NYC we can appreciate that. I can go on and on but I have limited space to comment here. Thank you EVERYONE at The Ritz Carlton DTLA for making my 60th birthday a cherished memory.…
