On two of four nights I was abused for complaining about the noise staff made most of the night, even though I was respectful but assertive when I did so. There was a man that the manager later told me 'just helps out' who sleeps in the common area by day and plays music and cleans at night. On the second night, I complained to the receptionist about his music and he came to my room and called me a "b****". I later had to complain about the receptionist himself as him and three of his friends were loudly talking and laughing in the corridor until about 3am. Two nights later, complained about the noise at 00.15am, then at 4am I was woken by the 'helper' and the cleaner having a very loud shouty conversation outside my door. I complained to the receptionist [the same one who was making noise two nights before until 3am], and he shrugged and said 'quiet time is for the guests only'. I then went directly to the two who were shouting and asked them to be quiet, pointed to the quiet time sign and told them myself and other guests were being woken up. They became aggressive, invading my body space and waving fingers at me and the female cleaner flew into a fifteen minute rage, threatening me with violence, shouting 'I'm a woman!' and 'Do you want to know my name?' and how customers don't pay her salary. She then started removing her outer clothing and offered to fight me in the street [at no point had I threatened her, or insulted her, I was only arguing that guests pay to sleep and should be respected]. I went to the receptionist and demanded to speak to the manager and he was unwilling to help and when he refused I said I would call the police if I received any more violent threats. He then proceeded to call the police in front of me and lie that I had started threatening and abusing his staff for no reason. He then said to me "f*** you, man, f*** you". After the call to the police, the aggressive workers disappeared, and I went to bed as I had not been asked to leave. At 5.30am, the police arrived and he sent them to my room to wake me up. The police did nothing but say people had to be calm, and said that making violent threats is not a reason to arrest someone so I could not press charges, so I went back to bed. The next morning, I checked out and spoke to a man who claimed to be the manager. He refunded me for the previous night and said he would investigate, but said he had been told a different story by his staff. For your own well-being do not stay here. I have never experienced anyone working in the service industry being this disrespectful to customers in my life and I'm in my 40s!…
My safe haven in LA been staying here for years now like a home to me great areas for guests great rooms clean tidy great people only thing would love to see the showers redone maybe more added though I noticed a new small restroom on floor one ! Just the BEST hostel in LA if not the whole world cheers ! ...see you again soon from the Aussie 😊
The place was really at a great location right at the Hollywood walk of fame. Near a lot of tourist spots. On my first night I was given a very noisy room near a club and sleeping was a problem. I was to stay for 2 nights so it was bearable. The beds were clean and warm. What I just liked about the place is the location compared to the rate you pay for stay. It was worth it.
This hostel is not a traveler’s hostel but like a concentration camp. There are too many homeless Sketchy people staying here. This is more like a shelter not a hostel. It’s so scary for a solo traveler. I also had a really bad experience in the women’s restroom. The men’s restroom/showers are on the second floor and the women’s on the third floor. So if you’re placed on the second floor, like myself, you would have to go all the way upstairs just to go. Mind you they only have stairs since they don’t have an elevator! It’s 2020 who doesn’t have an elevator imagine if you had big luggage. Because of this, I saw some guy peeing in the women’s stall. I reported it but they didn’t see who since there’s no cameras inside. The man who went in the women’s bathroom probably didn’t want to go all the way downstairs to the second floor just to go to the male’s restroom. This is so bad especially if you have arthritis. Also; I felt like I was going to catch coronavirus They don’t sanitize the showers. It’s really gross there were hair everywhere on the floor. And anyone can just come inside since there are no locks in the showers. I will never stay again! Give yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Orange Hostel is better than this wasteland…
Just stayed there for 2 days and i am highly recommended this to everyone whos on budget. *Location is the best , its literally on the hottest spot of hollywood walk of fame *the hostel design is cool and nice *friendly and helpful staff *included with easy breakfast (not much option but good inclusion) *nice bed I stayed there recently and due to corona i guess not too many people are staying , i book 2 bunk beds in mixed 4 beds room and they gave us the whole room for ourself which i really appreciate. I was also there during the black lives matter parade and i can watch the whole thing through my window room. I will def be back there if i happen to come by to LA again. Note : there re stairs so you have to lift ur own luggage (good workout).
My first hostel experience was in San Fran and it wasn't flash . This is much more modern , pleasant and clean with good vibes. Maybe Orange beats it on the free breakfast - will have to wait until tomorrow to confirm :-) Location is tops with all you would ever want on your doorstep ! Recommended
I have visited this hostel on several occasions and have had the pleasure of working with Carlos A. My check-in/out times are somewhat challenging however Carlos A is ALWAYS going above and beyond to assure my needs are met. He’s even explained to other staff how to but my days in the system. 1 phone call and I’m DONE!! A girl can’t ask for more than that. He gets my 10 STARS hands down!!
Stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. Location is unbelievable, right on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Went on a hike up to the Hollywood Sign with tour guide Anthony and he was amazing!! Super informative and fun and took great pics for the solo travelers. Great guy!
I styed here menawhile viisting Los Angeles in July this year. I liked the location of the Hostel roght on the walk of fame boulevard and right in front the train line so it was very convenient when commuting somewhere else I wanted to ge. This is basicaly in front of the Dolby Theater and Also the Griffith Obersvatory it is not that far from there. I just wnet to sleep on the room. There were plenty of showers, they were clean. Our room had a window so when coudl keep it open during the day in rder to circulate the air, I liked that. Only complain is that the entrance has so many steps, like 30 steps so if you bring heavy baggage that is something I will be concerned about. If they had an elevator it would be perfect and I would have given them 5 stars. Breakfast was included and it was ok.…
This hostel is located extremely conveniently on Hollywood boulevard. Across the road from the metro which is one stop to Universal studios or a few stops to Downtown LA. The place is clean and comfortable. Majority of the staff are all really helpful and make a note of learning your name and interacting with you. There are daily free events ranging from hikes to bar nights. Event leaders Carlos and Clarke are great and ensure everybody is safe and enjoying themselves. Good security and facilities. The only let down is the noisy boulevard but it’s a small trade off for being right in the action and you can get ear plugs for a buck.
