I styed here menawhile viisting Los Angeles in July this year. I liked the location of the Hostel roght on the walk of fame boulevard and right in front the train line so it was very convenient when commuting somewhere else I wanted to ge. This is basicaly in front of the Dolby Theater and Also the Griffith Obersvatory it is not that far from there. I just wnet to sleep on the room. There were plenty of showers, they were clean. Our room had a window so when coudl keep it open during the day in rder to circulate the air, I liked that. Only complain is that the entrance has so many steps, like 30 steps so if you bring heavy baggage that is something I will be concerned about. If they had an elevator it would be perfect and I would have given them 5 stars. Breakfast was included and it was ok.

The staff in the hostal is very kind, it is located right in the heart of the walk of fame and in front of the metro station which is convenient.It is known that LA has a problem with homeless people, street vendors, people on drugs, etc. and Hollywood is not the exception I don’t think is fair to judge the hostal based on that. The area is alive until late you can visit museums that are open until 10pm The hostal is clean overall, for breakfast they offer coffee bread jam fruits. The amount of showers doesn’t seem to be enough for the guests and sometimes it gota too crowded. The bathrooms were clean, bed was clean as well.

Great place to stay, large common area with pool table and well equipped kitchen. Complimentary continental breakfast available 7-9 and free towel hire.
I was weary of the location due to travelling alone but felt perfectly safe at all times. Opposite metro so very easy to get around.
Room, 4 bed female, was very spacious with AC and small locker available. Privacy blackout curtains around beds. The bathroom / shower layout worked very well, never queuing. A larger towel would be ideal for walking from changing area to shower area but it was fine. You can also hang your clothes over the shower door if you prefer.
Everything was spotless at all times, saw meticulous cleaning from housekeeping throughout. Front desk staff were very friendly and happy to help with queries.

As a solo female traveller, I didn’t feel safe here at all. Although it was a convenient location, there was a lot of homeless and mentally ill people and people on drugs and alcohol hanging around. I was put in a 6 bed dorm room where only one male was staying, who was very creepy. I didn’t feel comfortable at all staying in a room alone with him, so I asked if there was any upgrades to private rooms, but was told the price was 3x what it was online. I stayed one night but left before my visit was up. When I took sheets off the bed, there was blood stains on the mattress. Was very loud in the night and ‘quiet time’ isn’t respected. Also very very annoying there are only one lot of female toilets and it was the other side of the building from where I was staying. Also the shower doors are see through.

If the ocean beach samesun is a 10 this place is a 5. There restrooms are not very clean, the overall property lacks positive vibes. There is a common area with a pool table but no social atmosphere. A highlight which for me is actually a negative is that it’s right on Hollywood boulevard so expect a lot of noise at all times. Samesun took over the old USA hostel in ocean beach, and they would have been better off taking the over the old USA hostel in Hollywood which was on shrader which was just a block off Hollywood boulevard but way better location, had front yard area and each room it’s own bathroom.

Great hostel! Love the community and the amenities! The LOCATION is amazing as well and can't be beat!! It's right on hollywood blvd across the street from a store with necessities like snacks etc. Hostel provides shampoo and soap dispensers in showers as sell as full service kitchen with spices. Staff is super nice. Luggage storage avail. Def recommend

Regarding the merits, the location is superior as it is in the mid of the Walk of Fame and surrounded by many museums and stylish malls. The price was adequate, the overall hostel social atmosphere was enjoyable as it was full of diversified nationalities. The drawbacks were the extremely hot weather in the room (handled by only one stand fan) and the unavailability of free parking.

A very nice, safe, clean place. The beds are comfortable although a little small for my height. The reception staff is very polite. They give you towels, breakfast (bagels, oatmeal, tea, oranges) which is very appreciated. It is a very busy place and with the best location you can find. In front of it is the subway, Dolby theater, Chinese theater, Walk of Fame. A perfect place to come and discover Hollywood.

The primary merit of the hostel is its location, where it is in the middle of the Walk of Fame. On the other hand, the service, the value, and the breakfast were good and fair. In July, it was very hot weather, so air conditioners would be very nice to be added to the hostel rooms.

Weird aroma greets you as you enter the hostel and climb the Mount Everest stairs to reception . I took a 10 hour flight to get to Los Angeles and yet the guy at reception said that they get a lot of bums staying their who end up wanting to live there and have no job and he hoped it wouldn’t be me . Bizarre thing to say to a tourist . There were some “ edgy “ people staying there but mainly tourists . Great location but dirty dishes in eating area and this area and shower / toilet area just too smalll . Rooms too hot

Please be aware we do not accept guests whom live in the greater Los Angeles area. It is stated on our website, as well as all of our 3rd party websites. All guests arriving have to provide proof of onward travel (Bust, Train, or Flight ticket) that shows they are leaving Los Angeles. We are a traveler’s hostel, and these rules are in place to encourage this atmosphere. Please be aware housekeeping goes through all rooms and facilities on a daily basis to clean during the day from the time of 7am-3:30pm. During this time people are checking in and out of rooms, enjoying day activities in the Hollywood area, as well as all of Los Angeles. People from all countries and cultures of the world tend to come stay here at our location, and we do our best to ensure incoming guests are welcomed to clean, and fresh smelling room. We ask all our guests on the hike if they would like the scenic view which the hike is not too taxing on the body or directly behind the sign which is the longer hike. The group decides and the ones that dont want to go on the full excursion either wait or know the way back to the hostel as it is a very simple on 3 minute bus ride back to hostel.
Id say about 50 percent of the rooms you can. Also our giant common room with pool table fooseball table couches and large projector showing the oscars on tv while u peek out windows of common room to see the stars in front of you. Youve come to the right place.
There are more places to choose from in the Los Angeles area.
