Me and my girlfriend recently stayed at the athletic club and we were very dissappointed! When we arrived the receptionist wasnt very helpful, we went up to our room which was nice, but was let down by the bathroom, which was very poor. The tiles were cracked in a few places and in general looked very old and tierd, just...

I just stayed at the LAAC for the second time. My first time was about a year and half ago, then last week. First of all, when we made the reservation we told them we were a party of FOUR. Please have a room with two beds. They said they would try but can't make any promises. Well, naturally, when...

The hotel is not a normal hotel but really an "Athletic Club" with various sports facilities. Our room was of excellent quality, only the view was not great (which was not so important for us as we only used the room for regeneration).

This is an excellent choice for a comfortable downtown hotel. The hotel is outstanding, the rooms are really big, the beds very comfortable and luxurious, the rooms have a nice view, sports and recreational facilities impressive and accessible, the staff is very friendly and indiscreet, breakfast plentiful and the hotel bar is equipped with the best wines from around the...

Customer service at the front desk was NOT the greatest. Hotel was nice, but hard to navigate if your not a member of the "club". Rooms were nice but bathroom fixtures and tile needed replaced. Not worth the money you pay.

We booked this hotel for one night to attend an event at the Staples Center and we were very happy with our choice. It was within an easy 15 minutes walk of Staples. There was convenient parking and we found the $12 per day rate to be reasonable for downtown parking. The room was not large by US hotel standards,...

We booked this hotel (note it's primarily a fitness club) for a weekday Nokia event and chose it for what appeared to be a good value for the price. Hotels in the area are expensive, but the reviews were glowing and it was rated 4* so we gave it a try. The place is old. The rooms have been updated...

I am from LA and never stay in hotels there when visiting but needed to for a family event. Was curious about the LAAC so tried it out... The rooms are fabulously well decorated, with a very "clubby" feel to them. I got a corner room and it felt very special and even though it was hot in LA, the...

We wanted to be close to the Nokia Center, and it definitely is! Cool hotel Nice vibe and great health club amenities since it actually is an athletic club. Rooftop access is cool. It is not too close to the touristy stuff like Hollywood and Sunset Blvds, so we ended up paying $30 cab rides to those places. The area...

Positive place: different from big LA hotels, abundant complimentary breakfast with good omlette (though bad coffee), quite large rooms (with dark brown color), entire building-size roof-top to view LA (and possibility to take sunbath if weather ok), good size pool to swim, nice small steam-bath, many opetion for workout (from yoga to basket as well as the normal stuff). In...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
