The Saddleback Inn at Lake Arrowhead is a classic hotel in an absolutely beautiful location. Over the years since 1919, this restored historical landmark has played host to many Hollywood stars and executives, and is ideal for a romantic and relaxing getaway. There are rooms available in the main building, but our choice is always one of the separate "cabins" that are spread over the several acres, each with its own number and name. Our favorite is a suite, including a large bathroom with jetted tub, king bed, and living room with dining area. While there is not a stove available, there is a small refrigerator and a microwave. Additionally there are flat screen TV's in both the living room and bedroom, and a rock fireplace in the living room. Pets can be accommodated in several of the cabins, and there is a fee - call for information. The lovely grounds are covered with 100-year old cedars and pines, and the views are stunning. We have visited in June each year, and are treated to sightings of small wildlife. Squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, the occasional possum, and small bats flying among the trees at dusk ~ all contribute to the charm of the venue. There is also a gourmet restaurant on the premises, with both outdoor and inside seating. Pets are allowed in the patio area - a nice touch if you are traveling with your fur babies. Diane's Saddleback Grill is very popular with locals, and is the go-to choice for fine dining in the area. Lake Arrowhead itself is a 15-minute walk, and can be reached via a stroll through Lake Arrowhead Village, basically across the street (but out of view) of the Inn. The Village has restaurants, shops, a post office and a large grocery store. I cannot praise this hotel too highly.

If I could give less than one star I would. The staff here is abysmal and have a terrible attitude. They are not empathetic at all and quite frankly they were rude. Never EVER make a reservation here. You will be sorely dissatisfied.

We had dinner on a Tuesday night this month, not knowing it was their fish and chip night. Since we have moved to Lake Arrowhead in 8/2020, we have tried out most of the restaurants around, there are not that many of them. We really like the food and ambiance! Apparently this restaurant is little bit off the vilalge, not too many visitors and the locals want to keep it that way! My review is for the restuarant not the hotel itself.

The cabins would be amazing if only they would be better maintained. Seems like the owner is a cheap tightwad on maintenance. The cover of the super loud air conditioning unit fell off while I was adjusting the knob — it is held on with worn out cellophane tape, must have been like that for several years. When I try to plug in my iPhone charger, it falls right out of the AC plug, the contact inside the AC outlets are too loose (worn out). The little TV is a piece of junk with a blurry picture. The list can go on longer but I don’t have the time to type everything. It is too bad because otherwise these are very cute cabins and I would stay here EVERY year if they would just spend a few hundred $ on each cabin to fix what is worn out.

Lack of adequate staffing, no daily room service, one bar on internet, ants in the bathroom tub, noisy at 6 am by 7/11 store. This place has potential. I have pictures of the areas beauty but also video of the ants that just turned your vacation into a nightmare.

This is a great place to stay if you are traveling with your dog. We stayed in one of the cottages and each cottage has its own deck area with a small table and chairs to enjoy. We walked our dog in the neighborhood behind the hotel and she loved it. The bed was very comfortable and the room adequate. The reason I didn’t rate it higher is because the room was carpeted and soiled and could have used some updating. The deck was never cleaned off before we checked in so the chairs and table were dirty and the deck not swept off. Our cottage was #24 and it was right up from a 7-11 store that was busy all the time. People parked right next to our cottage to go to 7-11 and were noisy not to mention all the delivery trucks starting at 6am. Our reservation was for cottage 26, but when we arrived they put us in cottage 24. We had never stayed here before so we were not aware of the noise problem from the 7-11 store. The place is cute, and perfect if you are traveling with your pet, it just needs some updating and more staff to keep it clean.

Horrible policies. We have stayed there many times and when we had to cancel 48 hours ahead of time because one of us was sick, Michael refused to cancel the reservation and said we would be charged for one night. We will NEVER go back to this place.

I love the 80's. Hell - I grew up in them. But I don't need to stay in a time capsule devoted to that era. The "Sooner" cabin (#24) came complete with an Oklahoma Sooners football poster...dated..you guessed it...from 1982, which was indicative of the last time this room was updated. In short, the room was disgusting. Bad/exposed wiring in the room, a "Whirlpool" bathtub that I would be afraid to bath my dog in, peeling paint, and that musty "This room has not been aired out since 1982" smell to it. In addition, it was much too tiny to fit two adults in..which was never made clear to us when we reserved it. One thing in particular that bothered me is that when we checked in, the front desk clerk ran my check card for the entire amount of our stay, as opposed to an initial deposit/hold that most hotels do upon check-in. Shame on me for not catching that initially - definitely a tactic for making sure we would not pull out of the reservation once we looked at this ridiculous room. When my wife went back to the front desk to inform them that this room was not appropriate for two adults, and if we could upgrade to something cleaner/bigger, the clerk said "Well I told Matt when he called to reserve it that the room was small". False - my wife made the reservation...I had never spoken to anyone on the phone. Lying is not a great selling point for your establishment. Also - during our first night, the car parked next to ours in the spots allocated for the cabins had the passenger side windows broken out. When the patrons asked the hotel to have someone clean up the glass where the break-in occurred, they ignored their request. So each time I parked in our designated spot I had to make sure I was not driving over broken glass. When we asked for more towels during our second day, the front desk told us we could come by and pick them up ourselves. Really? You can't have someone drop them off to our room? And why they were at it, sweep up the broken glass next to our car? On our final day, I plugged in my cell phone to charge it. While doing this, I sliced open my finger on the broken/exposed screw on the 1982-era electrical outlet. Took me about 15 mins to get the bleeding to stop. This is a very long-winded way of staying do not stay here under any circumstances. Room we stayed in is not adequate for two normal-sized adults - it was dirty, dated and the office staff was incredibly unhelpful. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.

We stayed 2 nights. The cabins had a cozy woodsy feel. The room was very basic and no frills, it was small but comfortable. The room was outdated but the heater worked well. Our cabin was in the front facing the main road and 7-11 parking lot so we had quite a bit of street noise. Due to covid continental breakfast was coffee, tea and plastic wrapped pastries. Good location and a short walk to the village.

I give the hotel 3.5 stars. I have mixed emotions about my stay. I have never stayed at a hotel like this. It is rustic with a cabin feeling. Inside the room, it feels like a hotel. It is a unique experience. I had to get my temperature taken to check in. Somehow, I had a slight fever, according to the thermometer. My temperature was taken again abd I was told that I just made it. I understand, it is covid times. The hotel is one block from Lake Arrowhead village. There are no sidewalks. You need to be careful walking there. The bed is comfortable. There are chairs and tables outside of the room. The room was very quiet. There is a refrigerator in the room. It is a nice view outside. The shower had poor water pressure. I had a difficult time getting my hair wet. I am short but never had this challenge before. The tub has a place to sit where I would normally stand to wash my hair. The bathtub is a whirlpool bath. I was looking forward to trying this. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to work it. When I did, I got squirted, in the air by water, on both sides. Three jets on each side squirted water in the air. It would happen routinely. It was just strange and not relaxing. I am assuming the tubs are quite old. My room opened at the bottom. This door locked. Then I had to walk up about 15 stairs. The strange thing is that the door to my room didn't lock. Sometimes the door would open. The door to the bathroom had a lock but not a lock on my room? This felt like a safety issue. Breakfast is from 8 -10. However, breakfast is coffee (or hot water with tea and hot chocolate packets) and a packaged pastry. I understand that it is covid times. Couldn't they put the coffee and pastries out earlier? It isn't a bad place to stay. The location is quite good. The hotel is expensive (and has resort fees) and I don't know if it's the luxurious place you might be expecting.
