My wife and I loved our stay at The Lodge ! The rooms are large with a nice balcony. The lighting is a little dim though. The service is outstanding....we received a very warm welcome at check in; Gary, our bellhop, was extremely thorough. The concierge was very helpful in suggesting places in La Jolla with amazing water views. My...

This is the third time we have stayed at the Lodge. We booked an overnight stay through a Trip Advisor promotion and were dazzled by the great treatment we received. We were upgraded to an ocean view room It has spoiled us for future stays here. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Lunch around the pool with our son and...

We wanted to love this place as it looks so beautiful online but we were disappointed with our communication with the staff as well as the decoration in the rooms. On arrival we attempted to cancel a car service we had ordered during our stay. We were told this would be impossible as the cancellation period was 24 hours and...

Even if you are not a golfer, this place needs to be on your bucket list to visit. Great views and wonderful staff. Good food and a very relaxing atmosphere. Weather was terrific all week. Close to San Diego if the need to visit presents itself.

The Lodge is an AMAZING PLACE TO GET MARRIED!!!!!!! When looking for a destination wedding spot in San Diego we were drawn to the Lodge Torrey Pines. We first spoke/e-mailed Alison Patt the Senior Event Coordinator and she was so friendly and professional. We had spoke to other venues who were rude or took days to return my e-mails. We...

The lodge and surroundings are gorgeous - situated oceanside and next to Torrey Pines State Park. Giant pine trees surround the lodge, with the ocean in the distance. Beautiful hiking and whale watching are just a walk away. I like this lodge because you don't feel like you are in the city! The lodge itself is beautiful in the classic...

I have taken 3 great golf vacations this year, Bandon Dunes in Oregon, Pinehurst in North Carolina and Torrey Pines in California. Without a doubt the Lodge at Torrey Pines offered the best accomadations of the 3 resorts. The lodge is beautiful and the rooms spacious and comfortable. We had a courtyard view which was not bad but not as...

I have never heard of The Lodge until a great friend of mine had mentioned I should stay there. Booking was so easy, from pulling up to getting settled into my room. The staff here was extremely friendly and outgoing. I was planning my birthday weekend so I asked our bell hop if he had any recommendations, he helped very...

Service and problem solving at this hotel were excellent and top notch. All the staff seemed helpful and pleasant -with excellent follow-up when issues arose. Facilities were ok, but not in my view five star. Public areas (lobby, reception, etc.) were quite small and guest rooms in need of updating - carpets were very worn - an 80ish paisley green,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an award-winning luxury resort set atop the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla, California. Awarded the AAA Five Diamond rating for 14 consecutive years, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for six years in a row, and Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Hotels in the United States and Canada, The Lodge provides stunning views of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and Pacific Ocean and endless opportunities for guests to enjoy San Diego’s warm climate – from outdoor dining and relaxing at the spa to hiking, golfing and more. The Lodge is modeled after the famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena – two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Its post-and-beam construction features a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork and natural stone surfaces. Arrivals are greeted by doormen attired in kilted Scottish dress, while inside are 170 spacious guest rooms and suites designed for supreme comfort. The Lodge’s signature restaurant A.R. Valentien – rated Best Hotel Restaurant in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2015 – is a destination for fresh regional cuisine served in an elegant setting overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Artisan Table Dinners highlighting farm-to-table fare in a communal setting are offered weekly, while Executive Chef Jackson headlines The Lodge’s annual Celebrate the Craft event, one of Southern California’s premier showcases for regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking. For a more casual vibe, The Grill at The Lodge offers a full menu of favorites whether dining indoors or on the patio, while its bar is an ideal gathering place after a day on the course. The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the beauty and purity of the Pacific coastline. This 9,500 square foot space uses botanical- and marine-based extracts from European product lines Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, Farmhouse Fresh and NV Organics to replenish and restore the body and mind. Additional features of The Lodge include a croquet lawn, heated outdoor pool and cabanas, whirlpool, outdoor terrace with chaise lounges, hiking at the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve, a fitness center and the Scripps Library, a public space featuring a pool table, board games and more. Adjacent to The Lodge, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is an iconic 36-hole course that hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Farmers Insurance Open. Whether on the North Course or South Course, our guests have the opportunity to play where the pros play with the stunning La Jolla coastline as a backdrop. Nearby attractions include downtown La Jolla and Del Mar, Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Playhouse performing arts center and the Museum of Contemporary Art. During spring and summer, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club entices visitors with the thrill of live racing, while a popular year-round choice is the Torrey Pines State Reserve, a magnificent 2,000 acres of protected rare Torrey Pine trees featuring pristine beaches and eight miles of trails; The Lodge offers complimentary guided hikes throughout the preserve daily. The Lodge is located just 15 miles north of the San Diego International Airport and downtown San Diego. ... more   less
