This place is a treasure. It’s a bit off the beaten path, just north of Kernville on Sierra Way. We arrived in Kernville at around 6:00 in the evening after driving all day and we were ready to find a place to relax. We drove around town and there were lots of full parking lots and no vacancy signs. Even this lodge had a no vacancy sign up. Luckily, I looked on trip advisor and saw that this place had good reviews and that I could reserve a room. When we arrived the host seemed very busy, maybe a little overwhelmed, but polite and attentive. He apologized and said that the no vacancy sign had been left on by accident. He gave us our key and directions to our room (right across the parking lot from the office) and said he’d bring the bill over for me to sign. The room we were assigned to was ADA compliant, so it came with a large parking space and a huge shower and bathroom, fitted to allow wheel chair access. It also had a kitchenette/dining room with a tiny table and four chairs, and two queen-sized beds. The kitchen had a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, a sink, and was stocked with coffee, popcorn, coffee mugs, wine glasses, dishes and silverware. We put our stuff inside and went to find food, which was quite difficult because of the huge number of people in town and the social distancing requirements. We ended up getting food at the local grocery store and taking it back to the lodge to eat at the side of the river. At the river, we were almost the only ones there (it was probably 8:00), and quite serene. The only problem was the amount of litter scattered around. When we returned to the room, we turned on the AC as it was quite warm, and the room cooled right down. Even though the lodge was full, it was quiet and comfortable all night long. In the morning I woke early and sat reading on the patio out our front door. It was lovely! I can’t wait to go back.

The purpose of this trip was to see the Sequoias, but the Kern River actually stole the show! The Lodge sits right on the river with easy stair access. The grounds are very welcoming, and there are gas and charcoal grills throughout the property free of charge to use. The room was decorated so well, and there was a microwave and mini fridge that made eating really convenient, seeing as there aren't many options in the surrounding area. They also have an ice machine, so you really lack for nothing. The Kern River is quite shallow but the currents are pretty strong, so definitely invest in water shoes and flotation devices. My only regret is we didn't stay for longer. Thank you for providing such a lovely experience, we will be back!

This motel is right on the Kern River, the room was clean and smelled fresh. It's a short drive to several hiking trails and about a 7 minute drive to the "downtown" area of Kernville. They have gas and charcoal bbqs available, a fire pit on the deck overlooking the river and assigned parking (1 space per room). The room had a refrigerator, microwave and dishes/silverware, making in room meals easy. Would definitely recommend Sequoia Lodge to anyone visiting Kernville.

Very clean rooms and property.. the bbqs were clean and accessible.. the flowers and decorations are beautiful ..the rooms are spacious, kitchenettes are stocked and functional, air conditioner was nice and cold, cable had a TON of channels...the lodge is definitely cared for as it’s evident both Diana and her husband take pride in this property!! Diana and her husband were so welcoming and the customer service was exceptional!!! There was a small market/deli across the street that has everything you can possibly need ..along with great breakfast. The location of the lodge was literally a 5 minute drive to town, and steps away from the river -once you walk out of your room. We will definitely be staying here in the future and wish we would have known about this GEM sooner!! I can literally rant and rave about our experience for HOURS -if you are contemplating where to stay ..stay here because you I’ll not be disappointed!!

I surprised my fiance for his birthday with a trip to the Kern River which happened to be labor day weekend. If you've never been to Kern River, Staying here was the BEST decision. It was a packed weekend in Kernville so staying a little higher than the chaos was exactly what we wanted. (Only like 5 min drive). It is the only spot on the river, and Diana was so accommodating. Jason( a man who works at the lodge) was also very kind and accommodating. We didnt know what to expect having never been to the Kern River and we are now Obsessed. We originally came for white water rafting but will be back specifically to stay here at the lodge! We loved the patio, the riverfront, the BBQ, the location. They gave us fresh towels, coffee, and had direct TV perfect for lazy morning relaxing. They even gave us some cooking supplies to use after we purchased some steaks to cook on their BBQ. There is an ice machine and the room has a microwave & minifridge so you're good to go! The absolute best part of the stay was the short walk up to an area you can float back down to your hotel on a raft. The water was low in Sept. So we bumped butts a little but the float had rapid and slow floating so the walk up was totally worth it. (I sugguest bringing a little ice chest raft to tow behind like we did). Overall the room was clean and gave a very homey vibe, Diana treats you like you're her own family which was the cherry on top! My fiance and I are big travelers and adventurers and have been a lot of places, but this has to be our new favorite! We cant wait to bring our families back

Me and my family enjoyed our time at the Sequoia Lodge that we ended up staying a day longer. The 2 bedroom was very nice and clean and a good fit for my wife and I and our 2 boys. We loved that the river was just a couple minute walk from our rooms and that the BBQ was literally just outside our room. The beach area was also just a few minutes away from us. Very friendly staff and plan on coming back hopefully inAugust or September. Thank you Diana and the Sequoia Lodge staff.

The motel is very cute, with light & decent sized rooms. The bathroom is a bit old but clean and worked fine. Kitchenette had a microwave & fridge with a somewhat random selection of silverware & knoves
Lovely location near the River Kern but over 100 miles (3 hours) from King's Canyon so less than ideal for visiting the main Sequioa areas

The Sequoia Lodge is such an awesome gem in Kernville located right on the Kern River. I happened to literally stumble upon it when I was inner tubing up the river with my family and my inner tube had popped going over a rapid a ways back. I had been drifting in my life vest with nothing in sight. I was so stressed out miles away from where I was staying with my family waiting in the river while I walked up the path from shore to try get help or an inner tube. I walked through the property to the market across the street. They wouldn't help me with a tube, even after I explained my dire situation. No money, no phone, no inner tube to get back up the river with my husband and our two 11 year old boys. I even offered for them to hold my wedding band since it was all I had to insure I would be back to pay them for a tube. Out of the three working there no one would help me even though I told them I was stranded.

I was on the verge of tears, when I saw the office to Sequoia Lodge, thinking it was my last hope. I explained my situation to Diana, the manager. Without hesitation she gave me a patched tube of her own, and walked me back over to the market to buy me a backup tube in case hers wouldn't keep air down the river. Turns out I did need the backup. She insisted that she didn't want anything for it, except to help someone else when they are in need. She took the opportunity to do an act of kindness for a total stranger.

She is exactly the kind of person that I would love to give my business to the next time I'm in town. She was the hero that saved our only full day in Kern. Meeting her and the kindness she showed was the blessing that changed our whole trip. Thank you Diana for being our Kernville Angel. My family and I are looking forward to staying at this awesome property next time we are in town.

We booked this as midway stop between Pacific Coast and Death Valley.

We booked room 17, for the best views next to the river.

Great host and welcome. The first thing about the room was the very strong smell of cleaning fluid - almost overpowering. Nice decor but pillows and mattress definitely need updating. Towels thin.

Id probably say overpriced to be honest.

It wasnt awful but wouldnt necessarily recommend. Sorry!

This is our 7th year staying here and it always exceeds our expectations! This year they are under new ownership and it was fantastic. The rooms were clean, the bed was crazy comfortable and being able to walk right across the street to the little country store and café really makes the trip so easy. We get coffee and breakfast there every morning and pick up any items we forgot (this year it was a toothbrush). Having such easy access to the river is key for us, our boys like to fish and we like to float in the river, everyone is happy.
