My husband and I agreed after our recent vacation driving up the coast of California that Point Reyes was the place we would most like to return to; however, we also agreed that we would not be returning to the Motel Inverness. There are real positives to this motel, as other reviewers have mentioned: the lodge is great and the... More

It was very peaceful and relaxing to be either in the common area with the big fireplace, eating our al fresco dinner, or on the deck, watching birds and enjoying the sun and the view. This is a lovely little place, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Not much to do w/out a car, but this is in... More

Our choice to stay at Motel Inverness was the best of our trip. We were greeted by Shannon, who could not have been more friendly or accommodating. Since the hotel was not fully booked, she offered to upgrade us to the Great Egret Suite if we wished. Having booked the California Quail room, she allowed us to go see both... More

Ask for a room with a view à 120$. Great place with very limited service, but excellent clean rooms with all comfort. 1 remark: it takesloooonnng for warm water to show up in the shower. What a pitty (in a nature park) to have to waste so much cold water. Nice living room with binoculars, books, a blackboard with recent... More

We stayed at Motel Inverness for one night in early April, and it was an excellent experience. Though it's on the main road, Sir Francis Drake Blvd., it seemed quiet in the sleeping and back areas. Shannon, the General Manager, was terrifically helpful. It's not a B&B, but the "suites" have kitchens of one size or another. Our Heart's Desire... More

Yes, the rooms are small but they're cosy and you'll be wanting to spend most of your time outside in any case. The motel has charm, especially in the main room which doubles up as reception and a bird watching area. The manager was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back.

There aren't a lot of choices of hotels if you want to visit Point Reyes National Seashore. Weekends are hard to get a nearby room unless you book well in advance. We moved our trip around to arrive on a Sunday night instead of a Saturday night. SMART MOVE. The hotel had lots of rooms at a lower rate and... More

We stayed here for 2 nights over the Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 2011). This is a cozy little inn off the beaten track about 15 min drive from the small town of Point Reyes Station. Pros: The place is a haven for watching wildlife; it’s right on the edge of the water so there’s all kinds of birds and waterfowl to... More

Motel Inverness is the perfect base for your Point Reyes adventure. It is located on the shores of Tomales Bay and affords unrestricted views of wildlife that inhabit the area. The property itself is well-maintained however the rooms are somewhat small but very comfortable. The staff (Lynn) makes sure that your visit goes well.
