We rented the King size bed/room and had a great time. The cabins are joined so you don't get a quiet place to yourself but all the same it was nice. The people next door slammed the slider so many times I was used to it by the end. The heater is noisy and ticks all night and

Dear Plnrboy, Thank you for taking the time to review our inn, and for your feedback. We're glad that your cabin was wonderful overall and that you enjoyed your stay with us. We wish we had known about your next door neighbor; sometimes guests feel so "in the woods" as you say that the don't realize they are being loud or need a gentle reminder. Though it's rarely needed, we would have taken the opportunity to politely mention that they did in fact have someone next door. Sometimes it's so quiet even when we're fully booked that guests forget they even have neighbors. And, we do respect the fact that each guest has individual preferences and sensitivity to sound. Cabin sizes do vary, and our cabins are certainly NOT houses but larger inn cabin rooms and suites. That said, many of our guests have enjoyed their stay with the family, whether in the same cabin (some can hold up to 5) or by booking several cabins. As for our squirrels, you're right! they ARE huge... that's because we pay them in peanuts we place in guest cabins. We do provide the first small bag, and you can purchase additional full bags from us, or certainly bring your own. We're always glad that you're entertained by our furry friends, and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

The room was rustic and very nice. They provided peanuts for the squirrels and birds which was fun. It was a short walk to the nearest restaurant and everything was within a short drive. We would stay there again.

We have stayed here about 5 times, and it used to be wonderful. The last couple of times minor issues, but this time was incredible how bad things turned out and all we were told was that the owners will not do anything to compensate no matter what. But they didn't even supply

Dear Mrs. DrinkWine1 We are sorry to hear that your experience during your stay was in any way unsatisfactory or fell short. This is not typical of our usual guest's experiences. Please accept our apologies regarding the brief outage with your heater. Upon inspection, it appeared pilot light was out and was promptly re-lit after your notified us, however we were only told about this on the morning of your checkout. We also did our best to assign rooms as close as possible, but have to take into consideration other guests with prior requests and the fact that we have limited rooms of certain types (some as low as 1, others 3) and also have limited options for guests who book later. It appears that the main reason for your displeasure is that we did not provide you any "compensation". While we acknowledge and agree that your heater needed attention (albeit a simple and quick fix), our goal is always to correct any issues or repairs promptly. We do not provide "compensation" of any kind. Unlike larger hotels that give you $20 here and $20 there for "compensation" instead of fixing things, we instead correct the problems. I'm sorry if you were disappointed at not receiving credits or refunds as sometimes occurs so readily at larger big-box hotels that fail to fix problems and they have to fall back on bribing their guests, but that is not common with smaller boutique inns. We wish you well in you future travels, no matter where they may take you.

Quiet Creek Inn has been one of my favorite retreats from as far back as the 1990s. It is a unique place to stay due to the wood burning fireplaces, individual outdoor decks, kitchenettes and some units with separate bedrooms. I enjoy staying here for the relaxation aspect plus

Thank you NorskDoll for your kind words! Sara, Nathan Dawna and I are thrilled you had a great stay, and welcome back after all these years! I have to say that the sad truth is everything has gone up, and not just hotel rates at the Quiet Creek Inn. We hope you agree (and it sounds like you do!) that we're still a great value, especially when compared to other great accommodations in getaway destinations. You're right about your tip though: we have our BEST rates on our official website, and if you can come Sunday through Thursday nights, even lower and better offers. We look forward to seeing you back soon.

Just what we needed: peace and quiet in a clean and comfortable environment. The weather was perfect and there were no flying insects. Peanuts were provided for feeding the very polite squirrels. Highly recommended if you are looking to actually "vacate".

Is there a place to cook your own bbq?
Hellow Howgarfish, Yep, we have a BBQ for guest use. Basic BBQ tools are available to borrow from the office (but you are welcome to bring your own if you have particular ones). You cabin is also outfitted with plates, bowls, utensils, etc, and depending on you cabin, suites have a small kitchenette with two burner stove and small sink. All have refrigerators and microwaves. It's perfect weather for a barbecue these days! come on up and grill with us!

Dear CA Traveler, On behalf of Quiet Creek Inn, I can tell you that we only have TWO designated pet rooms, so at any one time there are usually 1 or 2 dogs, often less. While the max is technically up to 2 small dogs per room (so 4 could be there), that is rare. In addition, our guests tend to be lovely people and pet parents, and understand how to manage their 'children'. As pet owners ourselves, we respect and love our furry friends, but also work very hard to balance the needs of our non pet owner guests and our allergic guests too (I myself have allergies, even though I love my cat, so I sympathize). We hope that answers your questions; feel free to call the inn directly and we would be happy to answer others. We look forward to seeing you visit soon!

Do you have any wheelchair accomodations?
Good Morning Mr/s Bailey, I believe one of my staff answered your direct email already, but it's good to add the details here for TripAdvisor users. Our inn does have a cabin with accessibility features. Please note, however, that the inn was built just prior to the finalization of US ADA law, and while the builder tried to forecast what those needs were, it is not fully a true ADA unit. The new owners have conducted an accessibility study, have put in place a multi-year plan to bring the inn into ADA compliance as much as is feasible and possible given mountain limitations, and are making upgrades and improvements continually. Our terrain, for example, makes this a challenge, but we are currently looking at enhancing parking stalls for van accessibility through repaving and grading. That said, the unit type that you would need to book is our King Suite Premium View (accessible & pet friendly). It has a ramp larger restroom and shower with a built in seat, wheelchair sink, and some handlebars. Note, though, that doors and hallways in this unit were not built wide enough to allow full turning, and although the restroom is much larger (double) what our other bathrooms are, it is by no means a modern ADA unit. Once feasibility and structural limtations are determined, this may or may not be something that can be remedied. We can also make accommodations for any guests that need them; we provide check-in curbside to assist guests not able to traverse stairs to the office, for example, and have an assistive devices pack for checkout at the front desk that will turn any room into a hearing/visual-impaired accessible unit. These and other accommodations can be made by calling or emailing the office in advance to ensure we have equipment and rooms reserved and allocated. I hope the above assists you and those reading this with your planning to visit Idyllwild and stay with us at Quiet Creek Inn. As the owner and manager, one of my main goals is continuing to improve accessibility for all our guests so that they are welcomed and can fully enjoy our accommodations and grounds.

Good day Traveling from Santa Clarita! Most cabins in Idyllwild do not have air conditioning, and neither do our residences (in general). With summer highs in the low to mid 80s, and overnights in summer generally in the 70s and as low as 60s, cooling is usually not required. This is particularly true of Quiet Creek Inn cabins along Strawberry creek, which generally are shaded by towering pines and lie in the 'Banana Belt' of Idyllwild and are 10-20 degrees cooler than the heart of town or other areas. Also, our cabins all have vaulted A-frame or slanting ceilings up to 20+ ft tall, so cooler air tends to stay at 'head level'. That said, all Quiet Creek Inn cabins offer a ceiling fan, sliding glass doors, and ample windows for circulation. Our King Suites both have a small in-window unit that helps cool the room down a bit, with a limited number of portable swamp coolers that you can request in your "special request" section of your reservation on our official booking site. I hope the above answers your questions, and we look forward to welcoming you up to the cooler climes of Idyllwild... I personally travel to the desert and beach areas 2-3 times a week (I have a home in the desert, and used to live in Long Beach), I can tell you our temperatures are quite pleasant and welcoming in summer!

Hi Joane, thanks for your interest in Quiet Creek Inn! All our cabins are 1 bedroom or studio with one bathroom, though many are suites with two beds (King/Queen and a super premium Queen sofa sleeper). Two couples have two options: either a King/Queen suite if you don't mind sharing the bathroom for the economical option, or if privacy is more important, you can book two cabins in any combination that you prefer. We can also try to assign cabins adjoining or facing each other if you like (please request when you book online), though all our cabins are very close to each other. We look forward to your visit to our acres of mountain paradise!
