Detailed Reviews
Wow, we had such an amazing time at Boshack. There is so much to do ,or as little as you want. I was looking to get the family off their devices and spend some time and out in nature and this farm stay did not disappoint.
Such good value for money ,as the price includes all your meals and some great activities. The food was delicious and plentiful.
I thought I might just chill out, but once the activities started I was right up there with the kids! I loved being in the trailer heading out for farm experience. It bought back lots of nice childhood memories and I’m sure the kids will remember the experience too. We fed the alpacas and horses, went on a lovely nature walk through the paperbark forest and enjoyed hearing the stories of the Aboriginal people and pioneers of the area, plus the local family history of the owners of Boshack.
We came back from the farm to a yummy afternoon tea and then spent the afternoon canoeing exploring and shelter building .
That evening we sat by the campfire under the stars, toasting marshmallows and doing a bit of night spotting of the local wildlife in and near the lake.
OMG the stars are so easily visible out there and you truly feel you are experiencing the outback and at the same time a small dot in the universe.
Did we miss our devices NO! We slept so well.
Cabins are very clean and beds comfortable. I loved having a nice hot shower and whilst looking out at a stunning lake view.
I never really get up for sunrise at home but I'm glad I did as it was spectacular.
If you are looking for a stay where all you do is pack your cloths and toothbrush and everyone is entertained I highly recommend Boshack ,it really is a unique place with a very nice peaceful energy.
Even though it was only a couple nights I felt like I had time to rest and reset with the family.
Thanks Chrissy , you and your team made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble

A great farm stay that is family friendly. A beautiful place to disconnect and unwind in a tranquil natural environment. Fully catered so you don’t even have to worry about organising and cooking your meals.
Boshack is also close to many nature reserves with an abundance of wildflowers in spring.

This was our second trip to Boshack in 6 months after my daughters begged and begged to go back! Such a relaxing and soul restoring getaway; the location is beautiful and the staff are warm and hospitable. We’ve loved both our trips and met some wonderful people during our visits, with kids quickly mingling and making new friends. There’s lots of activities to get involved in, or time to relax and enjoy the lake and watch the sun rise and set. The accommodation is comfortable with all the basic amenities and they provide meals which makes for an actual parent holiday!

I wanted somewhere to escape life's stress and am so thankful I found this gem. Our family spent last weekend at Boshack and it was more amazing than I can put into words. Firstly, the location is stunning. I took at least 20 photos of the lake at different times of day - from the mist rolling off it in the morning to the sunset's reflection in the evening. The fact that all the food is put on for you and Steve takes you on all sorts of adventures around the grounds made it an actual break for the family's grown-ups.
We were there with another family; our kids are aged 2, 4, 6 and 8, and everyone was entertained and engaged. Steve's ability to spin a tale, coupled with his knowledge of First Nations food and history made this an educational and magical experience. They struck gold when the owners found him as his morning fry-ups were equally amazing!
The ensuites are made from water tanks and make for the most incredible shower - the view is stunning and the water is piping hot.
I can’t stop raving about this special place and already can't wait to go back.

We wanted to do something different and fun for my husband’s birthday with our little family, 2 year old and 6 year old, and were so glad we did. From the moment we arrived, the kids quickly made new friends and were playing nonstop. We got to feed the animals, get messy building a forte, bush tucker tasting, honey tasting (even brought some home and had to reach out to order some more!), nature walks, kayaking on the lake, digging for crystals and do lots of star gazing seeing. The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and they were very accommodating to our dietary requirements. Hubby and I even go to spend some 1:1 together once the kids fell asleep as we hung out outside our accommodation enjoying the fire and watching the stars. Highly recommend for anything wanting a little family getaway with something for everyone!

The Boshack was a great place to take our son on his first camping experience. With just enough amenities to keep everyone comfortable while still giving an authentic camping experience, we would highly recommend this place to anyone who was looking for a weekend trip away with family or some friends. There is a common room the size of a small house and with views of a lake that sometimes left me feeling like I was on safari! Derrick the owner was a really great host with the perfect balance of letting you relax on your own without being disturbed, while being available if you wanted any help.Came back to Perth after 2 nights feeling like I had been on a relaxing week long holiday.

The highlight of my trip was being in a canoe out on the lake and also spotting the long neck turtles in the evening. We stayed warm by the outdoor fire and gazed at stars that filled the night sky. Perfect spot to connect with nature.

We spent 2 nights here September long weekend, absolutely great. The staff were so friendly and the Glamping was great, clean and comfortable. We chose to have our meals supplied, and simply 5 star Josie and Gillian were great cooks, and so much food. The outback tour was brilliant Rory was a great tour guide with shane helping, the kids loved playing the didgeridoo and boomerang throwing, and loved the widgetty grubs. Jenny was brilliant and so kind and helpful.
Was lovely sitting by the camp fire at night and it was great having Derryck join us. Overall a fantastic experience, staff all wonderful and caring.

We spent 2 days here in early June 2014 as we wanted our children to experience the outdoors apart from the usual farmstays and it certainly turned out to be the highlight of their trip to Perth and the surrounding region. Accommodation was really basic, but I think the idea is to spend time enjoying the outdoors. We chose the "glamping" option, which is glamorous camping. Our tent had a "patio" with a chair, a door and beds and a single torch light as its only illumination. It was the start of winter and was got pretty cold at night but we were offered additional blankets. The bathroom facilities are even more basic. But the overall experience was amazing. The place seems to be in the middle of nowhere (actually the nearest town of Toodyay is just a half hour away). The property has a very unique lake which is very serene. The kids had so much fun just wondering about the property, looking for the lamb, climbing trees, roasting marshmallows around the fire, canoeing and star gazing at night. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests around the log fire and sipping wine. The staff Terry, Ian and Gillian were warm and helpful. We woke up in the morning to the sounds of nature...the rooster, birds and lamb. The outback "tour" experience was wonderful for us. Our lovely guide Leigh took us out to show us typical outback life. The kids got to feed the horses and cows. We all had a go at throwing the boomerang, searching for water sources (water divining), the didgeridoo. The kids made billy tea, tried the damper scones, witchety grubs and did some fishing. This was certainly a different experience for us and we are glad we did it. Tip: Bring along some torchlights !

I was in Perth for 8 nights with my family, and we booked a night at the Boshack on 10 Dec 2013. This is really a MUST-DO if you want to experience the true Australian outback away from the city life in Perth, especially if you come from a city yourself (my family is from Singapore).
Service - The people there are very warm and friendly, and took the initiative to mingle with us during mealtimes, when they could have just simply eaten by themselves in their kitchen. Though my family was only there for 1 day and 1 night, I recall lots of cheerful laughter among us. The owner even took the initiative to give my family tips on where else we could go in Perth upon checking out of the Boshack.
Value - Not bad, quite value-for-money overall.
Sleep quality - The beds were comfortable, complete with blankets/quilts. I fell asleep quite easily.
Cleanliness - Be prepared to see flies/insects around, some dead and some alive. After all, it is in the open nature :)
Location - Getting there is a long journey and was a little difficult for us as some of the directions were a little unclear.
Rooms - My parents would have preferred to have a mini-fridge in the convenience of our own tent. Other than that, our tent was rather well-equipped. There was even an extra pull-out bed in the tent, so it could actually accomodate up to 5 people. There were also a sitting area with sofas in the outer section of the tent. My family chose the best tent option available.
Children activities - My family has no children, but the activities we did on the optional (payable) tour would also be of interest to children. We chased sheep, saw cows, fed horses, played boomerangs, saw reptiles out in the open, and walked through bushes.
