I found that I had an amazing experience at Boshack with it's cool farm, calm lake and comfortable tents. It gave my group of friends a break from the city and a chance to relax. Two things I didn't like though were the lack of air conditioning and amount of bugs in the area. Fly-screen in the tents and air conditioning would've made my day.
The Boshack was a great place to take our son on his first camping experience. With just enough amenities to keep everyone comfortable while still giving an authentic camping experience, we would highly recommend this place to anyone who was looking for a weekend trip away with family or some friends. There is a common room the size of a small house and with views of a lake that sometimes left me feeling like I was on safari! Derrick the owner was a really great host with the perfect balance of letting you relax on your own without being disturbed, while being available if you wanted any help.Came back to Perth after 2 nights feeling like I had been on a relaxing week long holiday.
I recently enjoyed a two night stay at Boshack Outback for some one-on-one time with my four year old daughter. From the moment we left the sealed road, we felt relaxed and slipped right into outback mode. We arrived to the spectacular view of the lake and warm welcome from Deryck. That afternoon we joined a tour and both found it excellent. The variety of activities kept my daughter interested - her favourites being the trailer rides and feeding the horses, while I also found it fun and informative. The evening finished with a hearty and delicious meal - thank you Terry!! The next day we whiled away the day building a teepee, canoeing on the lake, and spotting kangaroos, lizards and birds in the bush. The endless skies and natural lake make this a very special part of the world. Thank you Deryck for sharing it with us and giving us such a wonderful experience. I will be back with the rest of the family!…
The highlight of my trip was being in a canoe out on the lake and also spotting the long neck turtles in the evening. We stayed warm by the outdoor fire and gazed at stars that filled the night sky. Perfect spot to connect with nature.
We organised to go to Boshack for New Years Eve as a different but great and relaxing place to get together with friends and all of our kids. There's plenty of tent accommodation situation around or adjacent to a beautiful lake. It is a true WA experience complemented by the nearby very charming town of Toodyay which you pass through on your way. The owners are hospitable and warm and do all they can to make your stay memorable. It is the second time we have been and our kids love it. Thanks to all who made it a great night and day. A lovely way to welcome in 2017.
We stayed here for 1 night, It was the most unforgettable experience in our WA trip. The staff are so friendly, the scenery of lake in early morning is so calm and breathtaking. My 11 year old boy was so busy with campfire, canoeing and fishing, that he totally forget computer games. Though it was winter while we stay, the hot shower supply make us feel warm. Very pleasant stay, highly recommend for both child and adult.
We are a family of 4 (children aged 8 and 10) from England who stayed at Boshack for 2 nights in April. The cost of the 'lakeside glamper' was $250 a night for the 4 of us and I guess I was expecting something a bit fancier for my money. Basically the 'rustic glamper' is a huge tent, with proper beds and bedding, and a light switch and that was about it. Bring your own torches, and insect repellent - unusually, it rained a lot whilst we were there, and I guess that brought the mozzies out. The tour for the 4 of us was $275 and we enjoyed this, especially as Tamara was such an enthusiastic guide. A trailer ride, didgeridoo playing, marron handling, and even a bit of raft building which was a family highlight. Canoes are included in the price, and it was fantastic to be able to get out on the lake in the early morning and the evening and enjoy the peace of the surrounding nature. Meals provided by Deryck and his team were great, esp the pancakes and fried bread for breakfast, the billy tea and damper, and the bbq in the evening. The toilets are proper outdoor aussie dunnies, with sinks and taps open to the elements, which the children found an eye-opener at first! We had an amazing hot shower, the water heated by a wood fire, which was a real highlight. A new toilet and shower block being built but not operational when we were there. Sadly we didn't see kangaroos whilst we were there, or stars for that matter because of the unseasonable rain, but we had a campfire which made up for it. In short, if you want a unique experience away from the hustle and bustle of city life, to spend time getting back to nature and away from screens with your kids, to experience the 'back to basics' of an off-grid location whilst doing adventurous things like canoeing, then this is the place for you!…
Just spent a weekend on a Yoga Retreat at Boshack. Although the accomadation is rustic, everything was spotlessly clean. Chrissy and staff went out of their way to meet all our needs. The vegetarian meals were delicious and the outlook onto the lake was perfect backdrop to our yoga practice. Even though it is only 90minutes from the city,it felt a million miles away, it was so peaceful. Definitely be back for more.
This is a brilliant place to go to , its out and away from all the busyness of life and the night skies are dark as - great for Astronomers and Astrophotographers alike - also great for the eco tourist - worth the trip and not far from Perth.
I have been lucky enough to visit Boshack a number of times now. Deryck and the team are the most welcoming, friendly, laid back hosts you will have the pleasure of meeting. The 'glampers' are a step up from your ordinary hut; so very comfortable and spacious. I love lazing around the lake and kids don't stop exploring all the nature-based fun. My favorite spot for a short family getaway any time!! There are no complaints from anyone until it's time to leave. LOVE BOSHACK!!!
