Stayed here for one night earlier this month and ate in the restaurant. The room was a superior double. The bed was very comfortable and the room warm, shower room small but shower good. There was a small sitting area for use with tea, coffee etc. on the landing. The food was amazing. The cheese and spinach souffle in chive...

We have visited this restaurant on several occasions , sadly on this occasion the meal was over priced for what we got. One wrong order and one friend only ate starters as nothing on main menu. Usually excellent on this occasion the blackboard specials and main menu were disappointing. However lovely staff great atmosphere but price and quality didn't match...

Ate here a few weeks ago and had an excellent roast beef, Yorkshire pud. etc. Sunday lunch. The beef was excellent, pink, tender, delicious. So why, oh why do they drown it in gravy? Just bring the gravy in a nice little jug and I'll decide how much gravy I want to put on it. The place was very busy...

Lunch for four, mains and deserts plus drinks. Two fish and chips off the specials board and two poached pollock. The fish and chips were great, crispy batter and tasty fish so big it was almost too big for the plate. The poached pollock with asparagus and wild garlic mash was exceptional. The apple crumble desert was also very good....

It's becoming a regular place to eat. A bit off the main routes to Cumbria but we'll worth a visit. Friendly welcome. Great choice of local foods and beers. Main menu and a specials board. Will cater for all tastes. Recommend the Short horn beef cottage pie. Wonderfully rich and tasty. Also get a dish to share. You won't be...

Let me say I have worked in this trade for 17yrs + up until 18months ago and one of our party still works in this trade, so we have an in sight of what to expect when we go out. Slightly disappointed with our main course in that me & my friend paid £28 each for a sirloin steak and...

Always love this place and have never had a bad experience, visited with kids, other families and as a couple before. The choice is always great and yes pricey but you get what you pay for in life and I have never been disappointed!!

We visited over the Feb 12th & 13th for Sunday lunch and as a base to go into the Lake District the following day. Clearly they have spent a lot of money returning this lovely inn. Sunday lunch was full and the food was exceptional. They specialise in Lakeland beef. Open fires and a fantastic welcoming feeling. The staff are...

We were recommended the George and Dragon whilst visiting an eye clinic for our pooch in Penrith! We needed somewhere that would allow the dog and provide a hearty meal to cheer us up. The welcome was great and we were impressed with the service and the menu choices and specials board options. There was even plenty of choice for...
