Planned to stay at the Evergreen or Rush Creek Lodge for a weekend family trip to take our son to Yosemite for the first time. It was a bit last minute and the Yosemite ‘resort’ prices were sky high, and most rooms sold out. After some digging I discovered The Groveland! What’s deceiving is that most pictures of the hotel on review websites online are extremely outdated. The Groveland was purchased by new owners/management a few years ago. It is the perfect blend of newly renovated, rustic, quaint and historical. Their website has all updated photos which gives you the best idea of the hotel. And talk about lot small town vibes! Groveland was such a welcoming little town, everyone was so nice and friendly. We picked up to-go orders from the Iron Door Saloon right next door (including cocktails in glass mason jars) which was delicious both nights and just what we needed after long days exploring Yosemite. We ate dinner on the beautifully set up outdoor patio at the hotel, under strung lights with. The staff at Iron Door were amazing as well. We picked up some groceries down the street at Mar-Val Market, again, full of friendly folks. There’s a nice little coffee place also next door. Everything you need it right there! The Adobe Suite was great, we had a rollaway for our son. I had coffee on the wrap around porch in the early morning. Each room has a table and chairs set up right there! Really enjoyed our stay, would recommend and would stay again!

We stayed here one night before proceeding to Yosemite Valley. The hotel is very well kept and charming. We stayed in the Adobe Suite, on the second floor of the main building. The room is small, but the ceilings are very high, and the newly renovated bathroom is very large. Contrary to what others have mentioned, the noise on Main Street in the morning was not an issue at all.
Live music on the patio was a nice surprise, as COVID is seriously restricting us from hearing any live music these days.
The town is very quiet, so there is not much to do on Main Street, except visit the famous bar next door, which is a must.
The room has a tv with satellite, but they should just remove it. The satellite didn't work, so the tv just had an error message.
Just one suggestion for the hotel: This room has french doors that open up to the deck, which wraps around the building. There is one high top cafe table right outside the french doors of this room. It would have been nice to place a little sign that says "Adobe Suite" on the table. Early in the morning, I opened the doors for some fresh air and light and went back to bed. At around 7am, a couple decided that this would be a good place to sit and have coffee and chat and laugh. They were literally five feet from my bed, which was really uncomfortable. There are six other tables throughout the wrap around porch! Why this one?! I had to get out of bed, and lock eyes with them in order to close the door for privacy. It was really awkward.

Thank you, kmlkm246, for your detailed review. We really appreciate your feedback. Upon guest check-in, we hand out a "Welcome to the Groveland Hotel!" detailed information sheet which includes our quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. with a request to be respectful of other guests and noise. During our renovation a couple years ago, a former conference room was actually remodeled into the Adobe Suite providing good space for a couple including a gorgeous bathroom with walk-in shower. Before guests arrival, the t.v.'s are checked to make sure they are working. A staff member is available to help from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. There is also an after-hours number to call if necessary. During the summer, Thursday thru Saturday nights, from 6-9 p.m., we are happy to offer free live music in our lovely garden courtyard located behind the hotel with our social-distanced tables. Take care.

We enjoyed our stay at the Groveland Hotel, the hotel has been updated nicely while keeping its older character and charm. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable, my only input would be the AC was a little light on the second floor- however there was a fan in the room so we got by. We enjoyed dinner on the patio both nights of our stay, complete with live music. The food was wonderfully home cooked and filling. I would recommend trying one of their bourbon flights. All of the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, we enjoyed just chatting with them on numerous occasions. Definitely a nice place to stay for a get away weekend or trip to Yosemite.

Thank you, TimC014, for your outstanding review & rating! We are very glad that you enjoyed your experience at our quaint historic hotel convenient to Yosemite. It was our pleasure to serve you. Our dinner special (Wed.-Sun. 5-9 p.m.) & free live music (Thurs.-Sat. 6-9 p.m.) will continue throughout the summer. Lately, with the outside temperatures in the 90's, it is good to know that the fan in your room helped to make it more comfortable. We hope you can visit us again. Take care.

Two nights for almost $600 and as far as I'm concerned, did not think it was worth it. First off, I was a late arrival and had trouble getting into hotel as all doors are locked and the staff leaves at 9 pm. I did get instructions to get into the hotel but I did not fully understand them. There is a note on the door with a phone # to call but when I did call it when straight to message. I finally found how to get in and we got into our room. When we entered the room (which was not lock), we noticed a small room, no TV (which there is a pic on your site showing a TV in a the room) no closets or dressers to put your clothes. The sink to wash hands / brush teeth etc is on the opposite side of the room from the bathroom (closer to the bed than the bathroom) with a very small shelf to put your toiletries. Quite frankly, this hotel is old (but neat and clean) but totally lacks a "modern" atmosphere. It reminded me of something you would see in an old western movie... We did not see any food service (this was at 8am) nor any staff to ask about food there. In fact, the only staff we saw was the bartender when we returned from Yosemite and it was closing time. In closing, if you are looking true getaway, this may be for you. However if you are use to the common amenities one finds even in most motels with a staff readily available, you may want to look elsewhere. BTW, we decided to extend our road trip and opted to stay elsewhere.

Hi happypappy9we're sorry to hear you you felt your stay lacked the value. We're in the process of upgrading the guest rooms however the process has taken much longer than ever expected. We are in the process of upgrading the old hardwired TVs with no internet access to Smart TVs by the end of the summer. You are correct that we do not offer breakfast. Our restaurant Provisions is open Wednesday - Saturday for lunch and dinner. We do close the bar early as most guests turn in early for their visits to the park last week, and the noise level can be quite disrputive. We were also hit with a major staff shortage last week due to Covid. We're resuming normally staffing level operations this week. Thanks again for staying with us and safe travels,

Jenn and Doug and their excellent staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and welcome during our stay. We stayed here while visiting Yosemite and despite the hour+ drive into the main area of the park, it was well worth it. After long days spent hiking the beautiful trails in the park, we returned to cold draft beer in the Provisions bar and great creative food options with plenty of outdoor seating and live music. It was truly a magical way to spend our vacation in the California mountains and we will certainly be going back!

and went out of their way to book us a room with our little dog. The room was very clean and pretty. The outside dining area was full of charm and I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling up to Yosemite.

I stayed with my husband at the Groveland Hotel for 3 nights 2 weeks ago.
The Hotel is very nice and cozy, despite the fact it is an historical place you have the comforts of a modern hotel.
Due to Covid measures unfortunately all the room services were suspended but we had no issue in getting/change our bathroom towels every time needed.
Furthermore, it is in the middle of the small city of Groveland, very close to all the restaurants and the supermarket and at 30 minutes drive from the entrance of Yosemite National Park.
Highly recommended!

I was on a day trip to Yosemite, and in the last minute thought of staying in Groveland. I had not heard about Grovelandd hotel before, but I booked this since it had good reviews here. My expectations were low, since even basic hotels around Yosemite are quite expensive. Boy, was I impressed when I checked in after a full day of exploring Yosemite! I had no idea that the hotel had a 160+ year history and was a historic building. Even though the building was more than 100 years old, it is still surprisingly well maintained and clean. The room, although small, was very comfortable and clean. The day I was staying here, it was around quite warm at 91 degrees outside, and the air conditioning in the room was just perfect. This place was way over my expectations! The staff is one of the friendliest I have encountered in a while. The patio with live music is a phenomenal add-on to this place. It's the perfect place to chill after a long day of hiking in Yosemite. Added bonus - the first drink is on the house!

PS: I was in the room just opposite Lyle's room, but luckily he did not visit during the night! ;-)

I felt like coming home staying at the Groveland hotel. I came out to explore Yosemite with my dog Kona. We felt so welcome at the hotel and really enjoyed ending the day with the local music in the courtyard (Dutch Carson was awesome!). The food was also incredible! I'm a foodie and the salad had the freshest tomatoes and lettuce, felt like it must have been grown and picked right outside! Also the cheese and meat charcuterie board, both Kona and I enjoyed! :), mild yet flavorful cheese carefully picked out. Perfect combination of flavors! The local community is just a nice place to stroll around, don't miss the nursery nearby the garden there is so welcoming and tranquil.

I really wanted to like this place. For $250 a night my expectations were high, unfortunately, they were not met. Unlike their website says, there was no welcome drink, I never even ran into any staff. Each morning no one was at the front desk. An errant fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, and we all stood outside for 20 minutes even though the fire department is across the street. No one reached out to us to apologize. When we woke up, the power went out in the whole town. We waited a half hour and then went to Yosemite. Again, no one reached out to us to tell us the situation or what happened. The toiletries were placed on the shower floor, it would be great to add a caddy hanging from the shower head for them. There was no kleenex, no TV unless you signed into your own streaming accounts, the air conditioning didn’t work and the room was stuffy. I wish there had been less furniture in the tiny room to move around better. The internet worked for about 20 minutes and then seemed to start to limit us. The updates to the decor are great, but it would also be great to get a little more attention for such a steep price in that location.

Hi. It was a 30 minute drive. Only 20 miles however your driving up mountains and need to drive slower to be safe. It’s a beautiful drive. We drove that 3 days in a row. Enjoy The hotel was amazing. The Majestic hotel was gorgeous. That’s were we ate. However the its a bit run down. Needs some updating. Our hotel at The Groveland was well worth the drive and all new everything!
