The hotel also does not have some of the services you'd expect from larger properties, like, for example, room service or a pool, but what it does have is a team that cares deeply about providing top-notch service to guests. Always friendly and accommodating, the entire front desk team, especially Ana, were so kind and helpful to my family and me during our stay. When an issue happened at the hotel that was beyond its control, Ana and the team made it right with us, and that was appreciated.
I'd like to also mention that the area in which the hotel is located is absolutely ideal. The Culver Steps are literally right outside the hotel, along with a nearly overwhelming number of dining and shopping options within a close walking distance. We did not get a rental car during our stay, and we did not need it - particularly since the hotel works with a terrific luxury car service called Alto. I can't recommend using this service enough.
Especially considering the plentiful dining options nearby, I'd probably avoid Lillie's - the service wasn't great and it's unbelievably expensive.
Finally, consider requesting a room facing the Culver Steps or the plaza area where Chipotle is located. The street noise coming from the main street was loud, and I live in a major city.
Overall, though, if you are looking for a cool upscale property in a nice area, especially if you want to be near Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and the airport, the Culver Hotel is your place.
The room was stuffy and hot at night, but running the air conditioner was not a great option, as after a few minutes, a mildew smell permeated the room.
UPDATE: I was contacted by the hotel after I sent them the above feedback on their post-stay survey. They detailed the steps they were going to take to address my concerns and refunded part of a fee from my bill. Based on their response, and again the level of service, I’m keeping the original starred review, but adding this note so you’ll be aware that the hotel staff really does go all out to make sure you’re comfortable.
My check-in experience was awful. The young lady at the front desk was especially unhelpful about the forced-air heating unit in my room that was making a continuous clacking noise loud enough to be heard in the hallway outside the room. When I requested to be switched to a room with a properly functioning unit, she told me there were no rooms available at the same size I had reserved, but that a smaller room would be made available at the same price. When I said I would have to discuss the price with the manager she magically found a room of the same size with a quiet heater. How they could rent my first room given the noise of the heater is beyond belief.

The team did not miss a beat during my stay.
They heard it was my birthday and went above and beyond with a hand written letter in my room and a bottle of bubbles for me as well as a birthday dessert and welcome bubbles in the signature restaurant, Lillies. I enjoyed afternoon tea on the patio on Sunday morning and it was the perfect start to my day and kicking off my packed studio tours for Sony and Amazon next door.
I cannot wait to come back!
