Nestled in the heart of Culver City, The Culver Hotel delights guests with its elegant charm and bygone-era ambiance, complete with live jazz that enlivens the atmosphere. The hotel's prime location earns high marks for its convenience to local attractions. While the amenities, including a lively bar and quality toiletries, are generally appreciated, some visitors mention the rooms can feel cramped and the gym facilities are limited. Cleanliness is consistently praised, though service reviews are a mixed bag, ranging from friendly to unprofessional. Moreover, guests often find the additional fees and expensive parking challenging, questioning the overall value.

Great boutique hotel. There’s a lot of history here, and they lean into it. Rooms are a little on the small side but very tastefully decorated and have everything you need. The complimentary filtered water in a glass bottle is a nice touch. I’ll definitely stay here again.

The Culver Hotel is located in an historically significant building in the heart of downtown Culver. With this historic nature are some key benefits - it's beautiful, quaint, and it really leans into its old Hollywood character. Depending on what you are looking for, historic could have some drawbacks, too - there is a lived in feel to the hotel, so if small dents and other imperfections are not your speed, then another property might be more suitable.

The hotel also does not have some of the services you'd expect from larger properties, like, for example, room service or a pool, but what it does have is a team that cares deeply about providing top-notch service to guests. Always friendly and accommodating, the entire front desk team, especially Ana, were so kind and helpful to my family and me during our stay. When an issue happened at the hotel that was beyond its control, Ana and the team made it right with us, and that was appreciated.

I'd like to also mention that the area in which the hotel is located is absolutely ideal. The Culver Steps are literally right outside the hotel, along with a nearly overwhelming number of dining and shopping options within a close walking distance. We did not get a rental car during our stay, and we did not need it - particularly since the hotel works with a terrific luxury car service called Alto. I can't recommend using this service enough.

Especially considering the plentiful dining options nearby, I'd probably avoid Lillie's - the service wasn't great and it's unbelievably expensive.

Finally, consider requesting a room facing the Culver Steps or the plaza area where Chipotle is located. The street noise coming from the main street was loud, and I live in a major city.

Overall, though, if you are looking for a cool upscale property in a nice area, especially if you want to be near Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and the airport, the Culver Hotel is your place.

Traditional, historic and perfectly located - this is a great hotel full with character and a very warm welcome. We stayed in a king size room which wasn't massive but was perfectly adequate for us, the shower comes with Aesop soaps/shampoo and there is a refrigerator and the usual coffee facilities. The people at reception/check-in were really friendly and you receive a voucher for the bar - we had great cocktails. The surrounding area is clean, friendly and has multiple choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We found it to be the perfect base.

The hotel could do with a proper breakfast menu given that they charge a substantial fee. There is usually no one at the dining room to serve croissants from behind the bar and only options would be a whole apple, a muffin/cake slice. The rooms can do with a bit of an upgrade with hardly any closet space (the closet in the room was tiny with hardly any space to stand; the cupboard was rickety and didnt even have selves. The least the hotel can do is provide two bottles of water. The bath fittings need an upgrade/were crying out for some repair if not replacement.

Beautiful Art Deco hotel with exceptional service. My only issues were with the room itself. Uneven mattress spurred acid reflux, because your head is lower than your feet. Pillows were strangely uneven with hard patches in places. No good neck support from any combination of pillows. I don’t know why I didn’t think to ask if they had other pillows, that’s on me.

The room was stuffy and hot at night, but running the air conditioner was not a great option, as after a few minutes, a mildew smell permeated the room.

UPDATE: I was contacted by the hotel after I sent them the above feedback on their post-stay survey. They detailed the steps they were going to take to address my concerns and refunded part of a fee from my bill. Based on their response, and again the level of service, I’m keeping the original starred review, but adding this note so you’ll be aware that the hotel staff really does go all out to make sure you’re comfortable.

first-time stay, won’t go back. There’s very little water pressure (4th flr) and no truly hot water at all so get used to showering in a weak spray of lukewarm water.
My check-in experience was awful. The young lady at the front desk was especially unhelpful about the forced-air heating unit in my room that was making a continuous clacking noise loud enough to be heard in the hallway outside the room. When I requested to be switched to a room with a properly functioning unit, she told me there were no rooms available at the same size I had reserved, but that a smaller room would be made available at the same price. When I said I would have to discuss the price with the manager she magically found a room of the same size with a quiet heater. How they could rent my first room given the noise of the heater is beyond belief.

The room was great, and the restaurant was great. My biggest issue with this property is that the parking is a disaster. For this level of a hotel there needs to be a valet option or a convenient parking lot for guest to self park. Being directed to the Trader Joe’s down the street when you have luggage is ridiculous then there’s a parking structure immediately next-door, which I was told upon check out was not the parking area you partner with so therefore, you don’t validate. this resulted in me arriving at the property with some stress, and then departing the property with stress. I will likely not return.

Historical hotel with well kept rooms and public areas. The location is great and accessible parking at a reasonable price is a rare find in LA. Perhaps lacking the full confort of newer buildings The Culver experience is worth it if you enjoy a classy historical vibe.

The elegance and charm of the culver hotel are unmatched. It’s as if you step into a Time Machine and are transported back to the 20’s. The hotel is apparently celebrating their 100th year anniversary and I am excited to come back to experience.
The team did not miss a beat during my stay.
They heard it was my birthday and went above and beyond with a hand written letter in my room and a bottle of bubbles for me as well as a birthday dessert and welcome bubbles in the signature restaurant, Lillies. I enjoyed afternoon tea on the patio on Sunday morning and it was the perfect start to my day and kicking off my packed studio tours for Sony and Amazon next door.
I cannot wait to come back!

I would give this hotel a good rating for the location. The rooms are a bit small but it was fine for me as a solo traveler. I found the free breakfast in the morning to be gone before 8:15/ 9 and not restocked to accommodate guests which was frustrating since it’s something we pay for. Also the parking is a walk and there is a garage right next to hotel that if you don’t need in and out is cheaper

Sorry for delay answering. Just decided to check my account and saw this. My husband and I drove from San Francisco Bay Area to the Culver. We used valet parking. They are a small hotel, with very nice staff. I’m sure they would be glad to answer your question. You might want to check Uber and Lyft, as well. We used Uber during our stay and it was well worth it.

We have lovely outdoor areas to sit and read. Our patio is unique, it is not facing any traffic. It faces out to the Town Plaza and there is sunny and shaded spaces for our guests to enjoy all day long. At night it gets very busy, a real bar scene, but during the day it is quiet and gorgeous.
