Trip Advisor should update their listing since the Half Moon Motel has become the Galaxy Inn for sometime. It is a real old-style motel with two stories and rooms opening out onto walkway, with access to the 2cond floor only by stairways. The room was clean, fairly large, and the king size bed quite good. However, it is on a rather busy street, for which you can't fault the hotel. There was a lot of traffic noise, and the typical through the wall heater was noisy when running. There is no waiting area, free coffee, computer for use, or anything like that, but only an attendant behind armored glass like you were dealing with a bank. I wanted to print a boarding pass, but they said that wasn't possible. In general, staff didn't seem particularly friendly. I didn't have a car, but parking looked like it might be an issue. All in all, a cheap decent place to stay, but a bit noisy and no welcoming waiting area and front office.

This was a really cute and clean room. The mini--fridge and microwave were helpful and the little sitting table provided a great space for me to read and write on. The bedding was comfortable and gave my back no troubles. Plus the restaurants nearby offered convenient and tasty food to eat when I didn't feel like venturing far.

I appreciate the friendly reception and high quality customer service I received from Mike, Ken and the Cleaning Angels... Thank you! I stayed in a suite a couple of times and years ago when this Motel was named Half Moon... it is now named Galaxy Inn. The manager remembered my name... very impressive customer service! I appreciate the attention to details and the quality of materials used to furnish and decorate the rooms... to model the comfort and quality of being at home. For example... a table and 2 chairs for dining, mini-fridge, dresser drawers, an area for hanging clothes, a flat screen TV, granite surfaces, comfy bed and abundant soft pillows, fan & A/C to circulate and cool room, crown moulding, recessed lighting with separate switches for adjusting the specific quality of lighting desired (for reading, dining, watching TV), paneled bathroom door and curved shower rod. Thank you to all of the people... and creative genius who have contributed to making this “Home Away from Home” experience available!

We stayed there last year to avoid the higher hotel fees near UCLA. Okay, so far so good. This is one of those places that's just good enough to keep you from saying "we're outta here" but you stay because it's only one night. Desk staff was civil, but not too friendly. Ice machine was broken, but you had to pay for ice so... Odd self-serve coffee machine at the front desk. Desk, not lobby. Think small. Now smaller. Rooms were clean, but odd. Way oversized table, but only one chair because the table was too big to accommodate two people and still be able to close the door. Not much room to move. Neighborhood seemed fairly safe. A great upscale bbq restaurant directly across the street - The Maple Block - saved the day. Free parking at motel, but it's a tight squeeze. Bring your subcompact. Underwhelming, but doable.

Hotel is in great location close to Venice beach, rooms are good size & beds are comfortable. Front desk guy Mike was very helpful, and very nice. Accidentally double booked and he was very helpful with refunding my money.
