Beautiful property and unbeatable westside location. Loved the great style and the proximity to Exposition line light rail. Stayed for four nights in February. Walked around Culver City and took a tram to Santa Monica Pier. Highly recommend this property!

We visited for the LA Marathon, stayed at The Shay March 15-21st.

The location was so convenient, most of our destinations were less than a 15 minute drive, except for The Getty and The Broad which were 25 minutes.

The decor and amenities were great. I liked the one touch closure on the black out blinds, dimmers on all the lights fixtures. Super comfortable bed/pillows,

As to the location across the street there is a food coop and an enclave of shops and restaurants called Ivy Platform. We had brunch at one of the restaurants: Bianca's, highly recommend that place as well.

We are from Chicago and were surprised that the Shay restaurant "Etta" was the same as in Chicago (Maple and Ash group). We had breakfast in the Etta Cafe all but one day, great food and service. The Shay also has lovely rooftop restaurant called Celestina, great Margaritas, nice sunset view.
Restaurants we drove to:
Rustic Canyon, Republique, Osteria Mazza, Elephante, and 71Above, great dining!

At The Shay every single staff person we interacted with from hello to goodbye were so friendly and helpful. The Valet team especially, we were in and out a couple times a day and they were great!

This was a “staycation” for me and my dogs. My family and friends visited and we all enjoyed the hotel and the restaurants. The area is newly developed along Ivy Station (Metro). Parking is expensive ($42 per night) with little options in the area for overnight parking. There was security walking the area every day/night alongside Warner Media building and station. Staff was attentive and lobby/common areas were very warm and inviting. Both restaurants were enjoyed by my friends and family.

Impromptu trip to LA to visit one of my besties and since my name is Shaye, how could I NOT check this place out. Booked the room only hours before checking in with my two daughters ages 11 & 9. This place exceeded my expectations. The lobby and downstairs area was super trendy (but in a good way) Great looking bar and lounge areas big enough from many groups. The check in process was as easy as it could be, the staff very friendly and accommodating. Upstairs on the 6th floor (the rooftop) was a great pool/restaurant/lounge/cabana mix. We were able to get lounge chairs no problem but I did learn that a lot of the guests are locals using Resort Pass, so if you do plan to stay there, try to reserve your lounge chairs early in the day. There is QR code you can scan to make reservations. Fantastic pool side service, we enjoyed cocktails and food and the staff was great. The pool was heated but still refreshing and not crowded. I was worried that it wasn't going to be kid friendly but it totally was. The pool is only 3ft so it deters kids from being too crazy in there. Perfect pool to just lounge in and relax. We ate breakfast the Canopy Club (onsite restaurant) and while pricey, it was really good and you expect higher prices at a boutique hotel, so I was un-phased. Every interaction I had with a staff person during my stay was top notch. Delano from the front desk helped me multiple times with not sure important requests (but he treated them like high priority) The room was really nice and the shower was one of the best hotel showers I have ever used! The only issue I had was that the restaurant/bar was on the 6th floor and our room was on the 5th. We could hear loud music very late into the night as well as hearing tables and chairs being moved above us (probably to clean up/sweep ect) And then it started again early in the morning as they were probably setting up for breakfast. I would definitely request a room on one of the lower levels the next time I visit. Overall however it was a great experience and I definitely recommend it!

The Shay is an AWESOME hotel in a really hip, nice area of Los Angeles. When I booked my family's vacation to the LA area, I was a little nervous about selecting this hotel. The Shay is a very new (doors opened in late 2021 I believe?) boutique hotel that is walking distance to a fun shopping area / arts district. Our great experience with The Shay actually began about a week or so prior to our stay when I was emailed by Rooms Manager Jorge Cuevas provided an advanced welcome along with recommendations for things to do in the area. Then, a few days prior to our arrival, Jorge emailed us again to let us know that the rooftop pool would be unavailable on the Friday afternoon/evening of our stay. While I was disappointed to hear this, I greatly appreciated the advanced notice which allowed us to plan accordingly. Our arrival at the hotel went very well as we were met with the attentive valets / bellhops who helped us get our luggage to the room. Front desk reception was very friendly and helpful as well. Our room included a balcony (thank you Jorge!) which was an awesome feature. The rooms were very trendy and comfortable enough for our party of 4. Later, when we requested a microwave one was brought to our room very quickly. Note the rooms don't include an iron/ironing board, however they did include a steamer which worked out just fine. My wife and I made use of the gym which was one of the nicer hotel gyms I've ever used with some really nice/new weight/cardio equipment. We booked a reservation for the rooftop restaurant and since our kids were swimming, the staff were kind enough to serve us pool side even though that technically closes around 4pm (I believe). There were patio heaters which were much needed and the staff even brought over blankets for everyone! There was no kids menu, however our kids aren't picky and they LOVED the tacos. The cocktails that I had poolside were also quite nice. The lobby is connected to a higher end cafe / restaurant / bar called etta. I took advantage of their espressos (excellent) and their cocktails (also excellent) but we ate elsewhere. There are tons of fun things within walking distance for a family to enjoy: parks, shopping, restaurants, etc. I simply can't recommend this hotel enough and can't wait until we come again!

Tom, I want to personally thank you and your wife for deciding to stay with us and for sharing your visit with everyone. So glad to hear you engaged with Jorge previously- he is a true guest experience pro and a natural at sharing great recommendations. Your review makes me even more proud of him and The Shay Squad. You are right about the balcony- good choice. Just enough private outside space to get to check out a sunset, or a view of this new kind of Los Angeles here in Culver City. Also glad you enjoyed- from Pelotons to Technogym to kettlebells, I was given the opportunity to hand select a lot that went in to the gym to make it functional fitness at its best. So glad to you all came, and checked out Culver City and the Arts District, and I can't wait to have you back. Cheers! Ryan Parker, General Manager ryan.parker@destinationhotels.com

Had a four night stay at The Shay in late February 2022.
Overall it was a great stay. Here are the main highlights:

It is a brand new hotel, everything is well appointed and in pristine condition.
As a Hyatt Globalist member, I got a very generous upgrade to a large suite with a large bathroom (including a bathtub) and a balcony. Such upgrades are rare in the USA - and I was traveling with a lot of luggage, so it was really appreciated!
The suite also received plenty of sunlight (great in the winter).
Shower pressure was great and the bathrobes felt luxurious and plush - wish mine at home was like that!
One night I ordered dinner via room service to the hotel's Etta restaurant. The price was reasonable and quality/quantity were very good.

Housekeeping forgot to clean my room one day. The front desk was apologetic and offered to send fresh towels and more coffee capsules when whey learned about it, so service recovery was good.

One point for improvement is that the breakfast menu at the restaurant should be more expansive. After 2 days I felt I had ordered pretty much everything there (and I don't even eat that much!)

But overall it was a great stay and The Shay is a very good addition to the LA hotel scene.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Shay. The hotel has a wonderful hip vibe. There are several very good restaurants on site including one on the rooftop where there was also a pool and a beautiful view of the city. My room, a king balcony, was very spacious, immaculate, quiet, beautifully decorated with a large bathroom and a very comfortable king bed. The location of the hotel is central and so easy to get to most places fairly quickly. I was so pleased with my stay at this hotel that I bought a variety of my relatives in to see it so they would recommend it to other visitors to the city.

We decided to stay at The Shay for our stay in Culver City this time. This newer hotel did not disappoint in any way. The hotel lobby and first floor area are spacious and comfortable. The roof top pool deck is beautiful and has views all around. The gym was well equipped. Our studio room was big and comfortable and allowed us to spread out without feeling like we were in a cramped hotel room. What stands out most is the staff. From the parking attendants to the front desk everyone was exceptionally nice, smiling and always willing to help us with whatever we needed. We felt safe there and the hotel was observing all COVID guidelines. All staff personnel were always wearing masks. If you’re thinking of staying here you wont be sorry.

One negative. I thought the daily valet parking rate of of $45/overnight was a bit steep.

Let me begin with the positive. The entire staff was professional, friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful. The lobby is beautifully decorated. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The rooms are quite small (the hotel describes them as “cozy”). There is no desk and no desk chair. The power outlet for a laptop is on a dresser but this does not make an efficient workspace and the dresser is so close to the bed that there is no room for a desk chair in any case. The bathroom wall adjacent to the bedroom is translucent, so if you turn on the bathroom light at night it shines right into the bedroom and can awaken your companion. The door to the bathroom is a sliding barn door that is noisy and does not block light, again disturbing a sleeping companion. Rooms are poorly soundproofed—we could clearly hear the shower and TV from the next room. There were cooking odors in the hall and in our room, and the windows do not open so you cannot ventilate the room. The mattress was very hard and clearly had an inadequate spring design as any movement by one person was easily felt by the other. There is no restaurant for breakfast. The only food service in the morning is the Etta café, which is essentially just a coffee bar, so it is not possible to get a real breakfast in the hotel. We didn’t try the restaurant for other meals but from the menu it appears to be essentially a pizzeria. The hotel charges 5 star prices, but in rooms, services and amenities it does not come close to being 5 star. We come to Culver City often to visit relatives and were excited to see a hotel that was closer than the Beverly Hills hotels we usually stay at, but this was a disappointment. I was tempted to rate it one star, but settled on three because at least it is clean and well staffed.

We certainly appreciate the feedback about the professional, warm and helpful group of people we have here at The Shay. Love that feedback- thank you! We appreciate your notes as well and recognize not every hotel is a perfect fit for everyone's needs. Our goal in designing our rooms is a contemporary vibe that brings leisure to the business traveller- meeting style, fun and functionality needs comfortably. Our rooms start at 300 square feet, compared to 180 in some similar lifestyle hotel options locally. Our suites are 500-600+ square feet and all the way up to our massive 1900 sq ft Presidential Scene Suite. Things like the frosted shower glass doors are great, but perhaps we didn't explain well enough that the closet mirror door slides to cover the shower door should you want additional privacy. Etta's cafe opens at 7am, and while we are still in our opening phase they have counter service and a seating area both indoors and outside on the patio and serve items like a farmers market breakfast sandwich, pastries, an egg and leek frittata, chia seed pudding and more. That menu will grow quickly. etta, for dinner, is a top restaurant in Los Angeles right now run in partnership with Michelin star chef Danny Grant. Much more than essentially a pizzeria, it's an experience. A shame you didn't get a chance to try it. I'm disappointed you didn't enjoy The Shay as much as we'd hope, and I hope that you find the perfect spot for you when you visit relatives next time. Thank you so much for sharing. This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I was hesitant about staying in Culver City but this is in a great area with lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops in walking distance and you are 20 minutes away from virtually everything in LA.

Pros: Brand new hotel, very clean, modern rooms, beautiful lobby with a pool table, lobby bar and relaxing and working areas and good restaurant. Pool is very “LA chic” and the gym is huge with Peloton bikes and full weights. You can even play Netflix and other apps on your phone to the TV in your room. The service was excellent with both the front desk and valet employees very helpful. The metro is also right next door.

Cons: Parking is an absurd $45 and there is some noise from the music downstairs on the weekend nights, but not too bad. There is also a ‘money grab’ $25 daily fee, which seems to be the new thing urban hotels are doing to replicate the ‘resort fee’ at beach hotels. Note that fee includes Uber rides anywhere within 2 miles and a couple of tickets on the metro, so take advantage of those inclusions to get your money’s worth.

Not your grandfathers Culver City! Ha! We hear a lot how much Culver City has gotten more and more special and how so many people think of it as a hidden gem now. There's locally owned and operated restuarants, shops, and more right outside the door, and a lot of recreation so close including a State Park to hike at and a bike path to the beach. Really glad you we're impressed and felt it was one of the best hotels you've ever stayed in and that everything was so close. Really appreciate it! Included in the Destination Fee is a lot of value adds, including like you said a ride within 2 miles, and a round trip on the metro, which we find so many people are taking to Santa Monica during their stay. Thanks for sharing- we appreciate it. Let me know when you return so I share more of my favorite Culver City spots with you. Cheers, Ryan Parker, General Manager ryan.parker@destinationhotels.com

We do! We have a set of rooms separated from the rest of the hotel on one floor by a breezeway, and those rooms we never put pets in. We use HEPA vacuums additionally that never go into the rooms with pets. Hope that helps! Kudos to you for asking, many make an assumption that there wouldn't be pet free rooms.
